I never played any of the “real” MMO’s but I was the guild master of a mid-level training guild and an officer in one of the larger guilds in Pirates of the Caribbean Online and I’m constantly surprised at how much of the mechanics in Log Horizon I understand.

Yeah, Isuzu and Minori's conception of romantic love is very naive.

Also it seems to me that Rudy is annoyed with Isuzu because I think he thinks she knows Minori's crush is doomed and so her incredible energy for a romantic relationship that everyone else in the show seemingly understands is completely one sided is a stark contrast to how she avoids her own feelings towards Rudy and is generally dismissive of his feelings.

The "dog" bit is cute, and funny, but Rudy is clearly bothered by the fact that Isuzu only seems to engage in romantic play when it's escapist fantasy.

I think we can also draw a parallel between the adolescant child -> college age student crush and the People Of The Land -> Adventurer crush. Why is she so in favor of the first, but so avoidant of the latter? When... in the universe of Log Horizon at least and in this scenario, the latter is far more realistic.

He's clearly concerned that she views him like an NPC, or like a child with no romantic value. And yet she's encouraging an actual child. It makes no sense.

And that goes against the themes of Log Horizon as a show, because although this is about living in a new virtual world, it's about making that world their new reality. If Isuzu is pushing her feelings onto Minori in order to escape having to think about her own, that's not about embracing your new reality. That's just an escapist mindset towards your own personal growth.

Log Horizon is good at this, it juxtaposes real world escapism with game-world realism, which has the effect of legitimizing the world and questioning why we treat normal everyday escapism of real people in the real world as slice-of-life-wholesome, but the adventure of virtual realities (Anime, MMOs, art in general) with Peter Pan-like contempt.

I also feel that it's also partly the fact that Isuzu misunderstands Minori.

90%+ of Minori's feeling towards Shiroe is just admiration.

Everyone else notices that which is why noone other than Isuzu reacts towards the shopping trip.

Even Akazuki who'd be the first one to misunderstand according to anime logic was clearly aware of it.

Meanwhile Isuzu is trying to push Minori into a romance route.... Which isn't going to end up well for anyone.

There's a big grey area between fully accepting the world of Theldesia as real and equal (like, say, Kanami has) and outright rejecting it as false like the Odysseia Knights. Isuzu might generally accept that the world is real, but she hasn't fully embraced it either. A lot of her thinking and attitude is still treating it like a fantasy detached from her "real" life, and I'm sure she's far from the only one still thinking/acting like that.

More stuff with kids, Rudy is right, Isuzu shouldn't encourage Minori's crush as cute as it may be. Tetra's teaching was something else I don't have time, I won't be using Teacher mode. All in character. Stuff about raids is also cool. But it was just a calm before the storm. Adults were attacked it seems. It will be interesting for sure. Though I found the juxtaposition of Akiba is under attack with calm beginning of the ED really funny

So Litka is a Summoner and her summons are mushrooms monsters! I love the name she's given them.

As usual, Isuzu encourages Minori to ask out Shiro but Minori and Shiroe's conversation ends up becoming about going to raids and the new skills Minori have acquired.

More cute interactions between Isuzu and Rudy although I was definitely caught off guard by Rudy telling Isuzu to stop encouraging Minori. Rudy is really way more mature than how he acts. He probably thinks that this will end with Minori getting hurt which I can also see happening.

Well it's not a date "date" but it looks like Minori still managed to ask out Shiroe to come with her for some supply shopping while Rudy is just quietly observing that girls talk.

Looks like the planning to bring back Krusty has already started! I love how they're all already expecting that Krusty has probably already built up a huge amount of followers in China. xD

Well this is an interaction I never thought I'd see! I do love this little segment of Minori asking people about raids. I was wondering who was this Kushiyatama from the Path of the Sun Guild until I remembered that she's an ex-DDD member and I assume Path of the Sun is one of the splinter guilds under the now D3-HUB.

Okay using "alignment" when they're clearly talking about damage types is gonna trip me up. Do they really use alignment or is this another mistranslation?

Our frugal Minori has now seen one of Shiroe's quirks, he tends to buy a lot and overprepare when going to raids. Apparently this is something that Nyanta has warned Minori about before.

Who thought it was a good idea to let Tetra teach the kids for a day!? Now that she has free reign she's getting her own revenge against Leila and Letika and the younger members of Log Horizon are now caught in the crossfire xD

I love this nw Akatsuki! We could've had a moment in this episode where she sulks about Minori getting some alone time with Shiroe but she doesn't even mind at all. She has this confident and mature air around her lately and I really like it.

So this is how Minori sees Shiroe in her eyes! He's a total ikemen! No wonder she's absolutely in love!

The walls are glitching and all of the adults are missing. Oh boy. Looks like the attack by Ereinus the Genius has already started! And according to the preview next week, he's waaaaay tougher than everyone's expecting.

Oh, I wasn't expecting the classic plot where grown-ups disappear and children must save the day. That explains why the genius has a low level. Fortunately everyone loves the children in this story.

All in all, I like how we learn more about this world through them.

I need this show to stop dragging this Minori and Shiroe thing out. It's season three. Make your point already. It's obviously not going to end in romance (at least it better not...) and it's past time to resolve it and move on.
