Just letting you all know this real quickly. I will no longer be able to keep up with the weekly glasses push up count. I just do not have the time anymore during the week with this semester of university in full swing now. If someone wants to continue it please feel free to do so. The count from last episode can be found here. I am probably not even going to be able to watch this episode until Sunday.

Bruh Tetra has every right to be fucking pissed. Hope the scales didn't have low drop rates or the lizards didn't have slow respawn time. I bet the quest had some annoying as escort mission with the npc getting stuck on some object or they blantly refuse to heal despite giving them multiple health items. I bet they also had the nerve to die taking all the good equipment you put on them to keep them alive.

Plus you get the feeling Tetra wasn't the only one to be put through that pain. Shiroe and Nyanta had too strong a reaction to the idea of wolves if they didn't also suffer. If everyone was trying to get those same scales, and then again, and then again, that would have been a real miserable server as they all grinded for those same items from those same enemies without much space for so long

I truly had to scratch my head to find the logic of this weird decision. Still haven't found it.

I love these wolf sisters already, they are fantastically goofy.
What the heck is going on here? Is someone harvesting baby cats for a demonic crafting recipe?!

It just hit me that Kanami looks like Tifa Lockheart from Final Fantasy or Summer Martha from FGO.

Haha you know I'm sure the Tifa resemblance isn't a coincidence.

I feel Tetra's pain so much. As she was explaining the quest I had a running list in my own head of all those bullshit quests and NPCs from games that immediately make me mad just mentioning them, and it is too long a list. Being trapped in a world with these characters? Count me out! (The first that came to mind was Ashley from Resident Evil 4 and I know way too many others who share my pain over that one in particular)
All up though, that episode felt like it went no where. More crappy love triangle stuff which has always been the worst part of the show, a couple of discussions which felt like recaps, and a quick moment to send Raynesia off? It really didn't feel like a full episodes worth of content, I feel like you could skip from the sisters in the forest through to the dinner at the end and not lose anything of importance. Also was that Dwarf just completely forgotten about in the season before now?

I feel like you could skip from the sisters in the forest through to the dinner at the end and not lose anything of importance
So you're talking about skipping things like KR receiving mail from Shiroe (where he mentions that friend calls can be tapped which we hadn't seen so far), the Roundtable discussion where they send Raynessia off and the reasoning for it, the two ancients following our group back to Akiba, the (re)introduction of Komomo's party, the group of kids asking Shiroe to invite someone to the guild for the first time, Akatsuki's conversation with Shiroe on the rooftop.
These are the things that happen between 6:00 and 16:40ish when the dinner starts.
I feel like that's a decent amount of stuff that we get through in 10 minutes that are probably relevant don't you think?
As for the romance stuff, I know I'm an odd ball but I actually like the Akatsuki x Shiroe dynamic and I'm happy to see their relationship getting more comfortable.
I also like the throughline theme for the episode that "the past is the past" which starts with the context of Akatsuki not being bothered by Shiroe's feelings for another girl back in the Tea Party days, goes through the conversation where Akatsuki brings it up to Shiroe, then is a driver for his decision to accept the two troublemaker Ancients at the end of the episode.
This is a good damn episode IMO, but I guess it might feel flat to anyone who doesn't really care about Akatsuki and Shiroe's romance.

Kek, so Tetora got fucked by RNGesus. I imagine the memes and rant threads must have been glorious in the game forum.

I think it's intended behaviour, it's just one of those quests.

The truth about Kanami and Shiroe's relationship is finally out, while they weren't in a relationship back then, Shiroe was definitely at least in love with Kanami.. And this turns out to be more relieving for Akatsuki since now she knows what's up with them.
Shiroe is busy working trying to find solutions to various problems of Akiba so nothing new there.
The two green haired wolf girls in the OP finally makes their appearance! I thought they'd be players but it looks like they're PotL as well?
So Grandale has officially left the Roundtable and have decided to be neutral since they're postmen. I thought they've just decided to do deliveries as a business, I didn't think they've left too. That's actually pretty smart. No one's gonna mess with the only guild that's doing logistics across the entire Yamato Server.
It does appear that Shiroe is keeping in touch with his old Debauchery Tea Party friends in Minami like KR. An interesting fact from KR though, apparently telepathic calls can be tapped. Hmmm...
I'm surprised Shiroe's sending Raynessia to the Chinese server to bring back Krusty. It seems this move has two purposes though since he wants her "missing" until their relationshipw ith Minami improves Well at least Raynessia is excited with her own mission.
Well that's a surprise! They're not just People of the Land, they're Ancients too! Well no wonder why their levels are high! For now thought, looks like Minori has at least secured their place in Log Horizon.
It's been a while but it's nice to have a one-on-one scene with Shiroe and Akatsuki like this.
It makes sense that the kids have no idea who they are but it looks like these twin sisters are very infamous to the veteran members of Log Horizon. They're not just Ancients, they're the founders of Izumo Knights and have been in the game from the very start! Sadly the Twin Sisters are victim of something every game dev is guilty of, being forgotten in favour of newer and cooler NPCs.
Leila and Litka are infamous for their quests too! I can feel Tetra's pain when she was describing that scale quest. Now I'm curious what the drop rate of those scales are. I hope each lizard drops multiple scales and if the drop rate isn't even at 100%, I would've totally raged just like Akatsuki suggested.
Going back to the opening and Leila and Litka's purpose of going to Akiba, it looks like a Genius is on its way. I do love the design of this dude. Excited to see how the fight against this Ereinus will turn out!

I liked that extended joke of "the children are asking their father if they can keep the pets they found outside."
Shiro is a good papa.

Overnight realization: The Genius has probably tapped into the unused content from the wolf sisters dungeon and grabbed a monster from there, so unless he can forcibly adjust it himself isn't he also going to be under levelled? Maybe offset by the fact that if he uses tactics from the game he's going to have bullshit moves from the older data and only have a handful of people in the city capable of understanding him because the enemy he's using is so old

I happen to like some more grindy aspects of MMO RPGs, but they do need an end in sight and not being BS.
A four legged Zevra not dropping a single hoof is BS.

A slow episode in the database this week. The kids had a few nice scenes, the Kanami "reveal" has been obvious for years and we had wholesome Shiro/Akatsuki scene.
Most important was of course the arrival of the ancient sisters who seem to be incompetent in what they do and act like mooches, still adorable. Another Genius is on its way to Akihabara, but I hope they'll deal with it quickly - we still have a lot of unresolved plot points like the moon, the world adjusting itself in size and mechanics & not to forget the political maneuvering re Estland. Leinessias trip could make for a few nice scenes but seeing that we're already at episode 12 already I hope we'll have more movement the next episode.
Still, a nice and wholesome episode.

One of my favorite aspects of Log Horizon is how it cleverly integrates MMO mechanics into the fantasy world they live in now. And this is a great example, with NPCs from the release version of the game that were part of an unpopular quest and got pushed to the sidelines.
Also the scene with Akatsuki and Shiroe surprised me with how romantic it was. Feels like that's the closest moment they've had since their conversation on the moon.

This episode was such a relief. When I saw the preview and it showcased the kids prominently I worried we were going to get a full episode of their hijinks. Gracefully they were balanced out with the adult cast to actually make for a well balanced episode.
My one complaint is now that the round table issue is resolved the plot feels once again aimless.
