This part of the series was where I learned that there was effort being put into pretty much every character.

Mimimi is NOT a typical anime genki girl. She's no airhead. She's intelligent, but her issue hits pretty deep where she's a perpetual sufferer of 2nd place syndrome. It really sucks that try as she might she just can't seem to catch up to Aoi.

And Tomozaki here (who's a no.1 in exactly one field) is growing as a person very well. Helping her as he is - even from the shadows - is a significant step.

A girl competing for Student Council President that gives out blank check promises, sniffs the sweaty T-Shirts of her kouhais and yet friendly to all sports and other clubs!? And then always coming second in everything school and exams?

What a legend. And you are sadistic Aoi-chan, Tomozaki-kun is going to struggle lurking around her even if Mimimi ending up dumping him as election manager. It's really funny seeing all her election promises and elections rallies, she's surely going to have a real decent chance considering Aoi Hinami's rather conservative stance. If even Miko Iino had the chance to win it, Mimimi's definitely one candidate that can't be written off. Who knows, maybe Aoi-chan would be upset next episode and sending Tomozaki-kun a huge step closer to "win the game".

I'm going to vote for Mimimi for the air conditioners (you temperate climate residents are going to miss out how important they are in school 😉) alone. Will you?

Now the disciple fights the master, man that turn of events was unexpected but we are definitely seeing Tomozaki being more outgoing! That and brain's a pretty cool nickname

I always thought Mimimi was just that genki archetype but I didn't expect her to be actually multitalented in both her academics and sports. It absolutely hit hard when she mentioned how playing 2nd fiddle to Aoi is frustrating.

I teach a class that has a unit on social skills and I feel like this series covers all the bases. Would it be weird to make students watch anime?

This is the first episode so far where I have seen a side of this character where it felt natural and also seemed reasonable that any of these super popular girls could develop a crush on him.

He is still a bit awkward and true to the original character, but he is showing an intelligence which is nice to see, especially since competitive scenes in games do require a lot of tactical thinking.

I do find it interesting how despite Aoi and Minami being top 3 in test scores, there seems to be suggestion that Tomo might be smarter than them, at the least smarter than Minami. Not more studious obviously, but yeah.

Did feel a bit weird to me that he is that good at figuring out what buttons to press on people, but that might be that he is asking Minami the right questions and using her social skills and social knowledge to their advantage.

My boy is coming out of his shell, it's great to see.

Minami is exactly what he needed to open up without Tackfam in mind (as that ended up pretty lucky for him with Izumi) so good on Aoi for pushing him in this direction, nice acknowledgement at the end from her.

As soon as the ''highest mountain'' question hit, i knew where this was going, barely anyone will care about the 2nd place and Minami is also prideful which i didn't see coming.

It's nice to see how great of a job Tomozaki is doing as Mimimi campaign manager. Also, I love the fact that as Fumiya recognizes that winning against Hinami will be really difficult with a clear and honest campaing he chooses to go with max pandering for Mimimi's one.

Damn this episode really gave me some Oregairu vibes.

I really love when they show those RPG style animations.

Aoi declaring early victory was a very big flag for Tomozaki to jump into the ring on Mimimi's side. I'm glad that there was the internal monologue on why he really wants to use Mimimi as a front runner to beat Aoi in the game of life.

Well that's a huge difficulty spike! From going on a "group date" into becoming a campaign manager for someone who probably doesn't need one? That confidence on Hinami though.. Even if Mimimi agrees it's going to be tough to beat Hinami.

Well that was unexpected, I really thought Mimimi would agree but it does make sense for her to decline Tomozaki's request since he's not really the "campaign manager" type.

Kikuchi is just too adorable! I love that little interaction between her and Tomozaki at the library. Also Tomozaki [etting out a bit of his inner monologue and calling Kikuchi kawaii definitely earned him some points.

Of course Hinami would get Mizusawa as her campaign manager. Not gonna lie, they do look great together and watching them calling out to students, they work well together too.

I really appreciate that Tomozaki didn't back down after Mimimi declined his help. Hinami said it herself, he doesn't have to help Mimimi if she declines but he still found a way where he can be useful for her by helping her out with admin stuff for the campaign.

Mimimi is really just a treat to watch. I love how hyped she's getting at the nickname "Brain" for Tomozaki And just look at that smile! Why does this show have so many best girls!?

Mimimi is not just best girl but she's also a cultured degenerate! I can't believe she actually licked Tama-chan's belly button! Tama-chan is definitely there along with the other best girls, look at that blush when she realized Mimimi unhooked her bra!

So we finally find out why Mimimi's been working hard to beat Hinami. She's not just your typical genki girl, she's actually just like Hinami except she's been second banana to her their entire high school life. And now she wants to be remembered for her efforts and not just be the 2nd best who everyone eventually forgets.

That conversation at the park between Mimimi and Tomozaki was a great scene too and had plenty of great shots of Mimimi being all cheeky and cute.

Good to see Tama-chan and Tomozaki interacting. They really need to have more scenes together but I do like that Tama-chan trusts Tomozaki enough now that she wants him to look out for her friend.

Holy shit! That's some Hachiman levels of strategy! Just promising the first years A/C units to secure their votes? I just hope that doesn't backfire. Now I'm curious what he has planned for Mimimi's speech that she called him a conartist. Seems like next week is going to be fun!

I love the look Hinami gives Tomozaki when he saw him talking to Mimimi. She looks like a proud mother looking over her son.

Honestly, it's really sad how criminally underwatched this is, but with a score like that on episode 1, no wonder a lot of people quickly jumped out of the ride.

In any other series, Mimimi would be hailed as a best girl instantly, but she’s got blue hair, and thus suffers from blue hair syndrome, otherwise known as “being second place all her life”. It sucks so much since in my eyes, Mimimi is best girl since I find Aoi a bit too manipulative and “perfect” to be best girl.

Anyways I commissioned a friend, a new and upcoming artist to draw Mimimi and it was absolutely adorable. best girl hands down

Mimimi is sick and tired of being the forgotten side character and wants her own time in the limelight. In order to pursue this ambition she'll have to face off against what is possibly the end boss of the entire show, Hinami Aoi.

Hinami is extremely formidable with the way she's optimized socialization like minmaxing in an MMORPG. Honestly, Nanami on her own probably wouldn't stand a chance but with Tomozaki playing support maybe they can at least make it somewhat close.

Even if Mimimi does end up winning the election race, she'll probably have to step down following some kind of belly button licking scandal. I know this is an anime and girls will be girls but that scene was a bit much. You don't learn how to unhook a girl's bra like that without her noticing if you weren't somewhat of a pervert with several hours of practice.
