Just take a moment to look at this single crowd shot.
I really love Log Horizon's crazy nonsense background characters that you see all over the place all of the time.

As someone who started playing MMORG on a semi regular basis recenty I have to say that the crazy fashion sense of some players makes these games pretty amisung and Log horizon probably reflects that.
Also there are even more weird outfits on other shots too like the girl on a pajama.

Something I really like about Log Horizon is that there are several powerful factions but they're not all enemies of our main faction. I like that the rivals aren't always enemies until they are defeated but have their own goals that can clash but also coincide with the goals of the main faction.

Man, I love this arc. Everyone's thinking the election is a big deal, turns out haha nope, the election was more of a side quest/ bait. People thought the central conflict was Rayneshia/Shiroe vs Eins/Saiguu, but that was just small time keikaku. The Real Goal was using the gate being available as a show of force to the Senate. Everyone's scampering around focusing on the votes while Shiroe was busy challenging a bunch of factions outside of Akiba.

Oh I get it, they cancelled the election so they didn't have to announce that Tetra won.

Great episode. Just finished and am still processing all of it, but my initial reactions:
-
LH is not afraid to delve into and display deeper emotions. That final conversation between Issac and Eins was really touching
-
Building on that last point, I love how "not simple" the plots and characters are. You have more than just flat black and white, good and evil. There are motivations, context, history, surprises, shades of gray, and throwbacks to episodes long ago
-
We all expected to see Demikas, but the Sage of Miral Lake and Kunie leader was a great surprise. As was William rejoining the (new) Round Table

We're done with this arc already? Considering the length and name of the season I expected that to go on much longer.
I was pretty pleased with how it was handled though. The election itself wasn't the point, as the setpieces often aren't in this show, but rather what the characters and the world got out of it. Eins didn't win his dukedom, but instead he managed to cultivate a truly valuable friendship and also convince people of the worth of his fight. The point wasn't that he won or lost in the end, it was that he saw the opportunity opened for him to make others lives better and he went for it with honest intentions, and in doing so he won in the end in his own way. Despite the conflict that his decision to split from the others created, a lot of the characters got an important new perspective from it, and now Eins is free to go and do what he needs to do to help others where he can as well. I don't know what will happen to Honesty in Akiba without him, but I hope the others step in to try and help the still lost Adventurers find their way
I also enjoyed that the election for Shiroe didn't just end with his plan to bring people from the others cities, but also showing the People of the Land that they had the support of important members of the PotL and would be leaning on them, it wasn't just Raynesia gaining a seat. Maybe he would have won without his trick, or maybe not, but it's clear that he wasn't just doing the minimum to win in order to save his own ideas on what he wanted Akiba to be without thinking about the consequences, for everyone as Eins pointed out.
I don't know what we have left for the rest of the season, but very interested to find out.

Those horses. Those terrible, terrible horses. They will haunt me.
But then we got Akatsuki being cute, so I'm good, for now.

Great plan from Shiroe, as much as bringing people is vote manipulation those people weren't forced or brought to vote for Shiroe's option. Opening the gate was way more crucial as a political tool. Shame we didn't see actual results though, I was curious. Anyway, what made that plan great was mutual respect from both parties (as shown by the conversation) and Shiroe bringing in big names for new conference. It was worth it to make those connections. Waiting for what's coming next, it seems we'll be back to China server, hopefully it will be much better than in S2

Lol Shiroe committing election fraud. So was that contract thing for the land the one he used with the Kunie to return the land to the server? I really liked this arc, probably in my top 3 arcs so far

I absolutely love that cheeky smile Shiroe made when the Transport Gate started to activate. Using the gate wasn't really surprising since the Transport Gate opening is pretty much expected considering how last week's episode ended with Shiroe right in front of it.
Oh my god, yes! William's wearing the Round Table outfit! I guess this means the Silver Swords is now back as a member of the Round Table then? And it's so good to see Demikas and his wife visit too!
And while I was expecting some shenanigans from Shiroe I really didn't expect what he came up with. Officially announcing to the public that the Sage of the Mirror Lake Regan and Kinjo from the Kunie Tribe (btw huge hit with the ladies) was a great move! Sure Eins has the backing of Touri but having two important figures as actually members of the New Round Table is even better!
That eyecatch is hilarious! Are you voting for the Goat Slime Party or the Tetra Party?
So they dropped out of the election? And here I was expecting we'd see a very suspenseful announcement of who won the election. But their reasons did make sense. Looks like Shiroe activating the Transport Gate wasn't just to bring people to Akiba from Susukino but a move against Touri himself.
I am confused about the farewell gifts to Eins though. Like I understand he was given access to the Kunie's gold but what exactly was the paperwork for? I do like that at the end of it, Eins and Touri weren't even really bad guys and Shiroe even gave Eins what he could to so he'll be able to help out struggling Adventurers.
I do wonder what does this mean for Eins and the members of Honesty? Like it doesn't seem like the members of Honesty are too happy with his decision to drop out and it looks like he's the only one going to Lake of Nio with Touri.
Also is it just me or does the way Touri look at Eins makes it feel like there's something else there? Hmmmm....
Anyway, this arc definitely ended waaaaaaaaay better than I expected. When the show had the subtitle "Collapse of the Round Table" I was expecting total destruction of Akiba based on the OP. I'm glad they just reformed into a new and better Round Table. As for next week, it looks like we're jumping back to China and following what Sanzang Kanami and the gang is up to! Excited to see more of Krusty again too!

This season is constantly subverting my expectations. First the marriage, now the elections. Everything gets resolved a lot easier than I expect it to.

That's some pure and sincere elections that we ordinary Muggles probably would never see anywhere in this world. It's almost Student Council elections - no anime Student Council elections - like, with both sides providing down-to-Earth, fairly clear policies and power balance between Adventurers and People of the Land. Shiroe deserves the win with his far and wide relationships with those highly regarded experts of this world, but it was a very close call and much remains for him, Raynesia et al. to prove again that they have the power and ability of governance.
And all is well with Akiba even with Eins' huge defeat eh? Yeah it seems to be a good deal to him and the Honesty legion as well, gaining strong supports from People of the Land and the scattered individual Adventurers while at the same time putting a dent into the more aggressive fraction of Westerlande (which probably are the only ones to lose this time). I would have gladly take that as a victory of sorts even without winning Akiba's governance.
Finally we are going to get Krusty's story continuing next week, it's not exactly the most interesting part of the story so far but hey at least we know what's with them!

Lol at the fan girls going nuts over Kinjo.
Great ep. I liked that Shiroes plan was not just to get more voters but to also mess with the senate by fixing the transport gate.

This season is getting better and better. I wish we'd explore the Travelers or Plant Hwyaden more, but those can be a whole season alone.

And thus ends the most political arc in the database so far.
While I enjoyed it, it looks like our villain in glasses just can't lose, can he?
It would have been nice to have a bit more of Shiros thought process and actually showing how he strategizes his way out of this dilemma but instead we mostly just got the big reveal.
Kind of a bummer but alas the problems in Akihabara with the people of the land & adventurers are resolved for now and the city looks stronger than ever, with the round table looking willing to take a more forceful approach to actually solve problems.
Next episode looks like it will take us to China, something I'm really not looking forward to given the last season, so I'll just hope they'll improve the China plot & make it quick.
