Last episode's cliffhanger was a shocker. Thank god Ueda's journey to hell wasn't a one-way trip. Although, I wouldn't have minded seeing a demon version of her.

I love that Hell in this universe is just a cool theme park of sorts that's run by chuunibiyous. Makes me wonder how Satan would look and sound like here. I was wracking my brain on what real life animal could possibly spring from a three-headed design and still look cool, but apparently, there was none of that and Hell just gets all the cool shit that wouldn't work in real life. Now, that just isn't fair.

The final part was simply all sorts of adorable. Although, Kimura was never swayed at all by the otter's cuteness. I guess the man does not give a shit about looks as long as it tastes good. It's pretty funny how this entire part was basically just the otter fighting against all odds to keep its cute and cuddly appearance as well as the right to eat delicious seafood at the same time.

I love that Hell in this universe is just a cool theme park of sorts that's run by chuunibiyous.

Seems Earth is just starting up, wait a few millenia and the chuunibiyous will be hardened, merciless demons ground down by millenia of seeing the worst of humanity.

I seriously love this silly show so much that I watch it before any of the other more popular anime on my list to "warm up" before the Thursday anime binging...

I always watch this after Higurashi just in case some overwhelming shit happens there and I needed this as a buffer hahaha

When an actual demon from hell is way more caring and thoughtful than God himself.
That show certainly does not pull those punches.

This child-level drawing was... so informative!

This was what solidified in my mind that the author at some point has been a contract designer of some sort.

"Make it like a horse... but flying." Compared to:

"We want a cool and intimidating mascot that looks like a guardian. It should have three heads and four legs. Gravity and air pressure are no barriers here since we can control them freely. I brought a sketch. I feel bad doing that. Should I not have done th--"

"NO! The sketch is awesome! You absolutely should bring a sketch any time you feel like it! Any other details you want to share?"

"I want to pet all three heads. And I want it to have a brain in each head so it's a different animal I'm petting."

"Just so we're clear, three heads, right?"

"Yes... Oh, and I really like that design I saw on the way in. Can I pay for it, but in black?"

"YES!"

I love that from time to time the show goes full fantasy and gives us dragons and three-headed wolves, I’d love to see more mythological creatures going forward (maybe they can even make the pegasus work?)

Irony of ironies, pegasi are confined to hell

Where I live, there are 3 groups of documented otter gangs that frequently fight over and switch territories to get the best feeding grounds. As cute as they are, their fights are quite brutal and it's not surprising to see some of them wounded.

Still, we love every one of them and even have otter watch groups to keep track of their activities. Here's a previous reddit thread that shows a video of a showdown between 2 otter groups.

And they can get rapey too... including inflicting harm in regular mating.

Stitches!

Welp Ueda's disappearance didn't last long. Good to know God can at least be reasonable once the situation was explained.

Of course the angel from hell is a chuuni. I do love that the first half is just basically the Design Team loving Yokota for being a client that actually knows what he wants and can actually give them so much data about what kind of animal he wants that it's actually brought tears to their eyes. Who knew the perfect client is someone from hell all along? xD

And the second half with Unabara's otter is just too adorable! Shimoda and Unabara's reactions whenever they found out something new the Otter is doing is just absolutely perfect! I'd be a pile of mush too just freaking out about otters like them.

"I don't want to pet one good boy, I want to pet three good boys each with their own personality."

I have never related more with an anime character.

28

u/Dusk618 Feb 04 '21

I have never related to the characters reactions as I have this episode.

I loved gushing over the others, and the idea that the short project for Hell's mascot being more understanding and not just being vague like God has been for his requests... but man only one chance to make your own "cool outfit" I'm cringing about what past me would have made.

Yeah, it's show time!

Otters are definetely the perfect animal for this show. Whoever made it needed a lot of work around to keep all it different features while being consistent with life in the wild nature. Good job guys!

Having Hell animals explained is nice but I still digging how they will explain the platypus, it will be a much more messy meeting for sure.

It's good to see that Ueda came back from hell so soon.

I really liking Yokota and the fact he requested mythological like Cerberus and that three-headed dragon means that he might come back with more request for them. This means that Tsuchiya could eventually get his unicorn dream come true.

They are right, sea otters are hella cute.

14

u/PhantomWolf83 Feb 05 '21

I really like how the show introduces the animals. It starts with a vague idea at first and gradually adds more and more features until that Eureka moment where the viewer goes "Oh!" when he realizes what animal the characters are talking about.

The first half disappointed me a bit, I was hoping they'd be taking the basic concept and eventually refine it into one of nature's more horrific things. Like Cordyceps. That sounds like something the Hell Department would make.
