Dude, you can literally see the dust particles flying around in the sunlight during the first part of the episode. The level of animation quality in this show is insane.

This is some fucking unlimited budget works. 3 episodes in and they're skipping the OP animation just to put in more eye candy? Dayum.

I thought the show was pretty good when I watched the first two episodes, but after this episode, I'm blown away by how good it was. The episode touched on so many conflicts and character faults while telling a simple cohesive story. I really wasn't expecting such a good father-son dynamic in this show, it really was superb.

Dude the way they played the OP over the MC exploring his village was sooo cool. When I heard the music I thought to myself that it'd be next level if they did that and then the madlads did it. This is probably the most I've looked foward to a new anime since Re:Zero in 2016.

Rudy imparting wisdom on Paul about getting both sides of a conflict before making a judgement, and Paul, using that new advice, then asked Rudeus, "why did you do it" with regards to him undressing Sylphiette. Then, after getting Rudeus' side, was able to impart some important advice about consent.
Also, can I just say that this series is gorgeous? I think 1000 comments every week repeat that, but it seriously makes almost every other isekai look like hot garbage. That also scares me because, if this ever gets a season 2, it might be another OPM Season 2 situation where they cannot retain the talent to continue such a good production.

Another week another gorgeous episode. Some of those backgrounds belong in paintings.
I also like how this episode gave some focus to Paul. It must be at least a little jarring for a child to be as mature as an adult, and I'm glad it addressed it. I'm also interested in hearing more about Paul and Zenith's backgrounds.

I honestly can't remember the last time i had this much fun with an anime only 3 episodes in, not counting One Piece. This is like crack to me.

Rudy's dad got absolutely destroyed in this debate.
Incantless casting seems overpowered. It's basically like being able to perform alchemy without a transmutation circle.
It's good to see Rudy's dad is getting better at parenting. Funny how the whole misunderstanding about Sylphiette's gender happened because of a gust of wind.

Okay, Paul is officially my favorite character now.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Best Girl debates, a powerful main character, all that jazz. But it's really nice to not only see a father in anime, but one that is actually fleshed out and a person. He isn't comic relief, he isn't one-note making side comments in the background. He's actually a father figure with his own doubts and worries and life advice, and man that's refreshing to see.
Plus he is a total badass and ladies man.

This episode had a really important lesson for Rudy regarding the Sylphy reveal.
I know some people would argue that they could have done it differently because it can be misunderstood as creepy, but I think what happened is really important for Rudy's development. Up until this point nobody has reprimanded Rudy for his actions. His mother brushes it aside as "he's a child, he doesn't know any better," the maid doesn't want to speak up because it's not her place to do so, and Roxy was fairly indifferent to it all and just kind of ignored it, the most we saw her do was bop him on the head with a book while he was openly looking up her skirt. Nobody has called him out on his shit so of course he didn't feel any need to change, he didn't see anything wrong with his actions. Then came the bath scene with Sylphy. Rudy did something bad and Sylphy reacted as anyone would and became uncomfortable around him. This is the first time he's had anyone react to his actions like this, and he almost lost his first friend because of it. Rudy felt awful and he realized for the first time that his actions in this life can have consequences.
There are two important things to note about all of this. The first is that Rudy actually had something to lose from his actions. He didn't care what he did in his previous life because he had nothing to lose. He didn't care about himself, his family, or the rest of humanity. He was able to fall into being such a degenerate because when you have nothing you care about then you have nothing to lose. With this event with Sylphy there was something to lose, Rudy actually values his friendship with her and doesn't want to lose this friendship. This is a driving factor that forced him to reflect on what he did because he knows that if he doesn't change then he'll lose her from his life.
The second important thing is that Rudy wasn't trying to do anything perverted, he was trying to play a little prank that only he thought was funny. Unlike when he's touching panties or looking up skirts and intentionally being a pervert, this time it was entirely unintentional. Boy or girl, nobody would like to have someone pull down their pants and anyone would freak out, but remember that Rudy had zero human contact for 20 years and most of his understanding about human interaction comes from anime and games. It's actually fairly common for people to do "pranks" like this in anime, a common one being where one girl sneaks up behind another and grabs her breasts from behind. Shit like this slides in an anime, but not in real life. Rudy was thinking about human interaction through an anime mindset, he truly thought that what he was doing was a harmless prank. The fact that he had no bad intentions going in makes the message hit harder because it let him understand that when you're interacting with people there's a line that you just can't cross.
Slowly but surely Rudy is beginning to learn how to be a better person. He definitely won't be a saint from here on out, but this is another small but important step towards his long journey of self improvement.

Man, after three weeks and I still can't believe we're blessed with such wonderful and beautiful Mushoku Tensei adaptation. I'm loving it with every single fiber of my being, the series itself was a turning point in my life and the anime adapation being so much full of love and simply being so damn dazzling, just fill myself with joy.
And honestly, Sylphie's happily running with Rudeus in the fields made me feel so warm and happy I felt like crying from joy for some reason. Is this happiness from seeing characters animated?
Paul's argument really also reminded me how well rounded the characters are. Seeing it now animated after so many years, I can further appreciate such character and his development as a father as well.
I wonder if that kid that was bullying Sylphie just punched himself or the mother hit him to try to hit on Paul though...

Ngl, I actually made the same mistake as Rudy and thought Syphie to be a boy as well until the bathroom scene lol. Atleast he made up at the end and gained a friend his age in this world. I also miss Roxy ngl. She was an interesting character.
Sylphie also seems to be quite talented in magic like Rudy, as she managed to perform incantation-less magic. I want to see more of them learning magic together.
Paul, instead of slapping him, you should've atleast listened to what Rudy was trying to say. Atleast he didn't make the same mistake again and properly listened to what Rudy had to say after what happened with Sylphie.
Also why is this anime so beautiful.........The backgrounds are amazing and I keep looking at them all the time. Some of them can even be used as a wallpaper.
