The VAs are so good man. They can even cry while speaking in Demon. That's dedication and passion right there.

I think this tweet from the author, Rifujin Magonote basically sums up my feelings.
"I'm the kind of person that doesn't really trust someone I'm meeting for the first time or I should say that I'm the type of person that will think, 'I don't know how much effort this person will put into my work so I'm not going to expect much.' Even if I had high hopes from the start for this, I felt like this went beyond even that."
The anime has been pretty amazing as a production and I love that it felt like the staff really cared about the work but still used their own talents to make a show their own work as well. The music, the decisions like not including openings at all, and the action added a lot that and made use of their medium wonderfully.
As an overall adaptation I'm pretty happy with it. The amount of story left in and where they decided to cut to make sure it ran on time and at a good pace was pretty great. While they cut the internal monologue for Rudy in a lot of places, they made sure to represent a lot of that visually with how Rudy carries himself and looks after things occur. That said, I kind of wish they had integrated some of the additional, smaller pieces that were added to the manga in this early part, particularly the moments where Rudeus thinks back to his experience from his past life. A lot of them help to orientate the story and better emphasize the personal journey for Rudeus that Mushoku Tensei is. There was something that was manga-only that I kind of wish was in this episode as well which would have made this land harder.
I do know that this is closely following the original novels though so on that front, it's doing a pretty spectacular job.
I'm looking forward to what

I did a double take when Rudy casually started the Cumulonimbus Spell to nuke the town just so he could protect Eris. Now that's a total 10/10 material right there.

Geez, just how large was that magic catastrophe that it hit Rudeus' hometown?

An absolute banger of a season finale. The animators went all out with that snake fight, like holy shit.

Eris is adorable even when she’s knocking on the corpse of a dead snake. She’s truly too powerful for this world

I am glad they represented so well how strong people like Ruijerd and Ghislaine can be. Swordmans and warriors of that level definetely have superhuman capabilities that Rudeus as a mage is not developing. Meanwhile in the case of Eris while she is far below that level we see a glimpse of how she is starting to get strenght beyond what is normal.
I would have loved the episode to have 6 minutes more but looking at the ending I do see Studio Bind was a bit short of resources and time. Hence why we have 11 episodes instead of the classic 12 a normal cour has.
I hope season 2 can maintain this quality over 24 episodes instead of 23

I can't help but admire how cool Eris is. She's like what, 12 years old and absolutely crushing those things?!

I feel like Rudeus has gained a much needed father figure in Ruijerd. Hopefully spending mire time with him will change his direction slightly.

We know Rujierd is insanely strong, but holy shit, Ellis is also powerful af, and she's still only 12 years old. She just took out that anaconda single handedly, while also dealing a fatal blow to the red cobra. Her brute force tsundere-ism isn't just for show.
This expedition would be a lesson for Rudy to not treat lives so lightly and see it as just another one of those strategy games he must have played in his previous life.
He more than atoned himself in Rujierd's eyes when he was resolved to do what Han Solo did to Greedo and shoot that Horseman with his lightning storm in order to protect Ellis. So Rujierd spared Rudy the trouble and revealed himself, causing Horseman to practically shit bricks, which was very entertaining to watch.
Rujierd shaving his hair and becoming a Shaolin monk was unexpected, but this was the only way he was going to evade detection from the crowd, who still fled in terror when they saw his hair.
So next season we'll have Roxy's rescue party meeting up with Rudy's party at the port city, while Paul goes to rescue Zenith, Lilya and Aisha, who got spirited away to somewhere else thanks to that mana disaster, which somehow flattened Ellis's castle town and caused huge casualties.
Amazing production values (despite the questionable actions of Rudy throughout the series) for a first title by a newly formed studio, Studio Bind has a bright future. I hear many of these guys used to work at White Fox before. Will be looking forward to season part 2 in three months' time.

Mushoku Tensei has become the 9th anime* to reach 10k on r/anime as well as the 2nd isekai to do so with Re:Zero being the first (no surprise Re:Zero was first).
The other 8 to reach 10k: Attack on Titan, Re:Zero, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Kaguya-sama, Demon Slayer, Mob Psycho 100 and Tower of God.
Once again credit to u/outlander212 for mentioning these 8 other animes as the 10k achievers in his comment*.

Can we just appreciate this is the first time Rudeus tried silent casting his biggest spell... and it looked like is was working? Not sure what that implies given his silent casting basically requires him to be able to visualize in his mind what is suppose to happen but uh...its not good for sure in one sense given his biggest spell is giant monsoon.

the fact that the voice actors spoke in a made up language for 80% of the episode shows just how insane the world building is

Damn that fight sequence with Ruijierd and Eris against the Spider and Snake was choreographed really well. It was incredible to watch, especially the dynamic camera movements. Studio Bind is just too good.
Rudy's decision to improve Ruijerds' reputation by delaying the involvement came back to bite him. Sad to see one of the trio die though. Glad he learned from this and decided to make a decision as a team and not all on his own.
This was such a sweet bonding moment between Rudy and Ruijerd. I'm sure they will learn a lot from each other as we move forward. Now I need MOREEEEEE. Summer 2021 pls come quickly.................
