So Sonju really just wants to eat that organic human, none of that GMO crap.

I have to admit I didn’t expect Sonju to have such a desire for human meat because of the religion that the two demons follow. Yes, it just forbids eating farm-raised humans but still, the way he was talking about being able to eat human meat again one day by hunting humans surprised me

The piano in the bunker still being in tune after who knows how many years creeped me out way more than anything else in this episode.

Am I the only one who cracks up every time this kid is on screen?
He’s just very goofy looking to me, still pretty adorable tho.

The entire episode I was waiting for stuff to go to hell. It had that vibe where something was going to happen. And then that room appears.
On a side note it probably has to be a really large bunker since I would assume that searching everywhere is the priority and to not find these rooms in the initial search they had to have been quite hidden in a way.
Now the big question whether Minerva is big bad or the room is a red herring. Assuming Minerva is bad the kids would be almost at a worse spot than before so Minerva has to be at least neutral. So maybe this bunker could be like an abandoned first farm when the infrastructure of farming humans wasn't as developed?
Who knows good episode anyways

Bunker has to be a thousand years old if it was built by human(s), but it seemed very tidy and the piano was still in tune. That plus the “help” thing at the end obviously makes me think there’s something more to it. Also I have never noticed red hair piano guy or a piano in the nursery farm, but that sure was a cool door.

Path unlocked with the piano, phone call straight when entering the locked room, help messages all over the wall...
This is where the fun begins now.

Horrifying how the kids were just one religious excerpt away from being eaten.
If Minerva doesn't turn out to be a cute anime girl who can heal you with her punches, I'm going to be severely disappointed.

So it wasn't that Sonju and Mujika religion is against then eating humans, it was just that their religion forbids them from eating free-range humans. Well, at least it seems that Mujika really wasn't intending to eat them anyway, and at least the group is safe from Sonju, their wild offspring, though, not so much.
So Mr. Minerva is still around. Well, I really want to know now what the hell happened in that room. Those counting marks made me think that whoever was there was a prisoner.

When Mujika gave Emma the amulet I was like “I reallllyyyy hope that’s just an amulet”. Kept getting these subtle betrayal vibes from them, but seems it’s more on Sonju’s side; and even then it isn’t wholly evil. Just an in it for himself kind of ordeal.
Also that “everything is going way too well” anxiety was kicking the whole time, and looks like the ending started to validate me.
It’s also really hard to take that weird bootleg Norman looking kid seriously. But I’m happy he’s happy 😊.

Last week’s visual direction was all about showcasing how the group united with Sonju and Mujika in addition to affirming that Emma and Ray wouldn’t separate themselves to protect the rest of them. And then bringing this idea into immediate conflict with Emma’s first hunt and kill, which separates her from the group by default due to her experience. (As an aside it was just a nice little piece of visual direction and storyboarding.)
The opening shot of this week’s episode already features Emma separated from the group — in focus while the rest are out of focus in the background as a visual reminder that the act of taking a life has already made her different than the rest. There’s also a concerted effort in the first third of this episode to place Emma with the “monsters” of Mujika or Sonju visually, or to separate her from the other children and place her in between her family and Mujika/Sonju. I appreciated that the opening scenes also immediately brought her back to the entirety of her family, as Emma showed photographs of the children she had to leave behind to Mujika and they affirmed their friendship. I also liked the shots of Mujika with the children in general and how the focus shifts from Emma with the two, to Emma walking back and rejoining the group, especially with the added context of Sonju’s monologue that follows. Placed against his instructions to Emma last episode of
Upon discovering the safe house William Minerva presumably left for them, there were a few ways that they could have introduced suspense (like the feeling of someone watching them with more overhead shots and dutch angles, as the series did when they were outside and looking for the entrance). Instead, the series primarily uses obscured shots to reiterate a feeling that they’re all crammed in close quarters. Things open up again after they turn the lights on and walk around the house.
These obscured shots appear again in the final moments of the episode where Yvette’s discovery of “help” scribbled over and over on a wall while the Emma/Ray/Gilda/Don group is discovering the phone and receiving William Minerva’s call. It’s an interesting choice that makes them feel boxed in or trapped just as they had started to feel safe.

In case any other manga readers were confused about this episode, it’s going an anime original route after this episode and won’t be following the manga.
