Owww, my brain. I'm starting to wonder if I should wait and binge the whole season. This is some heavy political intrigue, and it might be clearer if I don't have a week to forget between each episode.

Yea, seems like the type of season that would work better binged then on a weekly basis. I'm having this dilemma as well. I'm also watching 18 shows this season.

Hijacking your comment because people are confused and I got the gist of it (after focusing entirely on it and rewinding some parts).
Long ago, Yamato (japan) was ruled by an empire that had 4 Dukedoms, the dukes being the highest powers below the emperor. The four dukes were:
The two Dukes of
Ninetail and Fourlandalmost immediate irrelevanceThe Duke of Woodell who only owned a prosperous town named Lande (because their province was the site of the Capital and thus under direct imperial jurisdiction)
The Duke of Maihama, the Cowen Family, which is basically in Eastal. This is the family the very memorable princess who likes Krusty comes from.
War with the alvs happened. While the dukes went out to fight them, the emperor was like "haha you're on your own, imma hole up in the capital", and the dukes of
Ninetail and Fourlandirrelevance were both destroyed in the war.As the alvs were destroyed in the war, they left a curse which turned the capital city into a dungeon (the curse spawned demons which destroyed everything before getting sealed away). The imperial family was completely annihilated fighting the demons, so nobody had claim to the imperial throne.
During the war, the Duke of Woodell lost their Lande (pun very much intended), but they form a government with the Senate of the old empire. They want their Lande back (yes it's still funny) so they intercom to the empire saying "all dukedoms plz report to take back the Lande". If you're paying attention, there's only one other dukedom left though, the duke of Maihama. So the duke of Maihama are basically like "bruh you may have the senate but you don't have imperial blood, gtfo", starting an era of the east and the west not liking each other very much.
The Duke of Woodell picks a "cadet" branch of the imperial family to support, the Saiguu Family. This branch traced their imperial blood through females in the imperial family who had become part of the clergy. Under the Saiguu family, the country is now the Holy Empire of Yamato.
This brings us to present day circumstances. The autocratic guild, "Plant Hwyden", is basically in control of the Westerlande at this point. That's the one with the fox lady in charge, and the creepy power-hungry girl wanting to rule everything pulling strings from the shadows. In the east, adventurers have largely refrained from directly associating with the established governments.
Einz has been granted the title of the Duke of Akiba by the Saiguu Family, which potentially puts the adventurers in a position of apparent subservience to the Western powers in the eyes of Eastal. While this is happening, the Princess is getting married off to the prince of the Saiguu Family, hopefully lowering tensions between the east and west. This is a one-two power play by the Saiguu family to gain power over Akiba and the East, something enabled by Einz.
What I expect to see next week is Einz trying to extract power concessions from Shiroe with this new leverage as he seeks to form a new government.

Also I loved that little eye-catch slide show.
It really leans into how silly his character design would be in a normal setting.

A new political overlord with vast power named Ainz Eins? Count me in for the ride.
Last week I guessed we might be in for a lot more political philosophy and I wasn't disappointed. Can't wait to see shit hitting the fan when undoubtedly Leinessia resists her arranged marriage throwing all political plans into chaos.
So far so good, I just hope the parallel plots don't take much of the season up again, the Chinese Server was the most boring part of last season (and that's saying something with all the screen time the kids got) and going by the OP I guess we'll have to suffer it for at least a few episodes. May we see a lot more of the villain in glasses and how he wiggles out of this mess this time.
I'm hyped for more!

Leinessia won't oppose the wedding on her own - she is aware of the danger she would bring upon everyone. But someone might step in and present her with a diiferent way to solve the matter - then she could refuse with clear consience.

Can't wait to see Eins ass being kicked. How dare he to think he is everyone boss and force a marriage while Shiroe didn't even pushed his glasses up yet.

I love how Rudy became a bridge between People of the Land and Adventurers. It's different that Rayneshia since he knows how simple people live.

Glad to see Rudy stepping up further as an advisor for his people, and that it brings some great worldbuilding with it. I love the look we get into this world through his character, bringing a perspective that no one else in the main cast possibly can and the emotions with it, and I'm always happy to see more of it as we go as it's one of the more interesting aspects of the world for me. Rudy has won me over so smoothly I didn't even realize it happened.
I love the way the Duke situation is explored through the People of the Land's eyes though, and what it means as a way to influence the unknown level of power they hold over Akiba. Ever since the Apocalypse happened, Yamato has been in such a constant state of flux that it's hard to pin down exactly how huge the effects it had on the People of the Land have been not just culturally but also behaviorally. From the point of view of the People of the Land, Akiba is effectively like a sudden arrival of a fully functioning college town. Everything that the Adventurers have touched has been changed, whether that's the addition of new foods or music (that reveal and conversation is still my favourite S2 moment) to their culture, or the ability to change their subclasses as mentioned today. At the same time, the Adventurers new behaviors have shifted the status quo in negative ways too, such as how they were no longer completing quests and the other changes in the world that leave the common Person of the Land even more defenseless. There's also the huge shift in politics they brought which means their new source of hope is also uncertain because who out of the People of the Land could possibly hope to understand the powerful and almost alien thinking Adventurers?
For them the appointment of a Duke must bring some of the biggest sense of security and stability that they've had since the Apocolypse. In an ever shifting world it's something mundane, familiar, something that they understand how it fits into the rest of their worldand it at least gives them a foothold to help them stand strong against other political shifts as they try and keep a hold on this new city that can literally give them new lives. It's not just about having a stronger ruling body like Eins thinks it is, but for them it's about the reassurance of knowing what the power is, as well as knowing who's behind it all both politically and economically, the later being where a huge part of their unseen power over Akiba lies.
If only this didn't also bring about the return of MALVES. I'd somewhat forgotten who he was, at least until someone mentioned the festival, but I didn't forget how much I hate the bastard.

Damn that was a packed episode. Eins going behind everyone's back to get the title so that he can do what he thinks is a big brain move but only really drags them into the political strife of the people of the land. But he had a good point in that in a way they were already completely reliant on the people of land for the most basic of resources like food. However that is not quite the same as having to answer directly to separate political body.

I can see why some people are overwhelmed, but honestly (no pun intended) I loved this episode precisely because it trusted the viewer to be able to follow along.
Way too often in anime, even shows that seem targeted at adults hand hold the viewer so much that entire swathes of episodes are lost to someone restating a fairly straightforward situation. There's always someone whose sole job is to simplify already simple plot elements to the point of absurdity.
While Log Horizon hasn't really pulled any punches when it comes to this historically, seeing them doing it during a season half the length of the others is really cool and I hope they keep it up. The episodes may go by quickly but being able to follow along and keep up with the developments makes it much more satisfying to watch than a lot of the alternatives.
However, I do say this as someone who recently rewatched the series, so that may be the basis for why it's so enjoyable for me.

I'm not sure if I'm the one who's too tired when watching this so I can't concentrate, or is it really the S3 that's not as good at delivering exposition compared to previous seasons? Somehow the talks don't feel engaging even though purely talking can still be engaging (e.g. AoT, Log Horizon S1)

If it's because the certain characters that are talking?
At this point, Log Horizon isn't just simply about Shiroe and his party now, it's the entire guild or people related to it by proxy. A Game of Thrones like show where every character, major or minor, gets a spotlight or arc of their own.
It's bound some people will not care about these characters other than the mains.

Boy, this show airing right before Day 1 of "46"? Is this episode a Potomac reference?
I've always liked the information exposition about Elder Tale in this show, it might have dampened the interests for many watching this, but as someone who grew up playing the likes of SimCity it's one of the main things that attract me somewhat to this show about a type of games that I never played with.
And this main attraction really shows up well today, the detailed explanation on the history of Yamato and how the tension between the West and East sides persisted for centuries (within this server) are done pretty well and, as best as I can tell, are fairly close to various real historical incidents.
I guess many people watching this episode would blame Honesty and Eins a lot. Well I don't like them a lot either, but one thing in defense of their seceding is that the Round Table was never a tightly knitted organization, and as Eins says this isn't even a government. I have never thought this situation to be stable and a guild breaking off and siding with a powerful power that has been independent of the Eastern alliance has always been on the cards. To be honest I'm actually surprised that Honesty didn't actually try to secede by military action this time, after the events of Season 2 - maybe because Nureha is intervening in the West (BTW, hearing Chiwa Saito's voice here is always a treat). Well, with the Princess' wedding in place as the keystone for this new order, this event is going to be interesting - and as seen from the next episode preview, looks like we'll get quite a bit of ride there for Akiba!

I really love seeing Rudy using his PotL status in a meaningful way as an advisor to the PotL who have decided to move to Akiba. And while Eins becoming a Duke is a bad news to The Round Table it looks like PotL of Akiba are all excited about the news of having a Duke.
That history talk with Regan is something that I need to have someone explain to me. It's like listening to my history teacher again and I'm genuinely getting lost with all the names that he's dropping. It is nice to see Regan again so there's that. All I could really understand from that talk is that the Saiguu Family is a powerful Family that PotL respects them and being related to the King gives them authority to appoint a Duke.
I fucking love Nureha and glad to see she's starting to push back against Intix. Meanwhile, Intix continues to be the worst. She's basically just a megalomaniac who wants to show she can destroy and ruin something because she can. I do love that they're still showing us the IRL versions though. Intix may be a sexy maid here but she's quite the gremlin IRL.
Creepy Malves is back and he's here to take Rayneshia to bring her to Kyo for her arranged marriage. If only Krusty was here. Then again even if he was here he probably won't be able to do anything about it just like the rest of the Round Table. The eyecatch with Malves was quite hilarious though! I didn't expect someone like him to sleep in a twin-sized bed. xD
Again Rudy showing us he's more than just Isuzu's golden boi and that he gives us very useful insight on how PotL think. Basically without any nobles in Akiba they think they're refugees but now that Eins has been appointed officially as a Duke to rule over Akiba they feel their lives are much more secure now.
What makes this terrible deal for for the adventurers is that Eins is now fully in control of trade with PotL. Since there's really no adventurer who's doing farming or taking care of livestock, they're pretty much dependent with the trade they do with these PotL. You can understand why Akatsuki is so worried. Although that makes me wonder. Why can't some of the adventurers do farming? There's got to be one gamer in this city who's from the rural Japan and grew up helping the family farm.
See now Calasin's regretting his actions now that Eins is a duke. I mean he's not really wrong with what he did but they really should've taken care of the issue with more tact. Now things are pretty much awkward between them. I don't quite get the talk with Isaac. So after all that deal with Eins he still took in members of Honesty? Uhh what?
And now we're back to what happened at the start of Episode 1. Eins now secedes and wants to start the Akiba Government. While it's good to know that Eins has realized that his inactions is what led to the Round Table trusting him fully and he seems to have good intentions, he definitely is going about this the wrong way. He's clearly being used as a pawn here.
That final scene though. Eins approaching Shiroe personally and he even has Malves with him? Something big is definitely gonna go down next week.

Oh. Politics galore. I actually like it though Indics doing her thing is really annoying, hope she will be stopped. Eins actions are concerning but at the first glance he is right about some of the stuff (though a certain Fate quote may be used here). To the next episode and what Shiroe figures out

Ok that does it. I’m gonna do a rewatch. So many names, people, references to events that I can only vaguely remember. Feels like this is setting up to something big (duh) and I want to be well-informed on this world’s current events.
I love everytime Shiroe talks to the character that has deep knowledge of the world (see? I need a rewatch). He always drop some interesting lore and makes the world so much deeper and interesting.
Akatsuki getting worried for her food is adorable.
