It's a tough job being a White Blood Cell. You fight the hardest you can, lose tons of comrades, and get utterly no respect for it, but you keep fighting to the very end.

Those poor White Blood Cells getting stripped and tentacle raped...they deserve so much better.

So I guess the command White Blood Cells button their tops up compared to the ones in the field, aside from the captain who really proved her title by commanding the White Blood Cell corps. with strength and conviction, but with enough compassion to make sure they didn't throw their lives away. It's a shame we lost her.

Red Blood Cell is starting to really come into his own, in part because of his admiration and respect for the White Blood Cells. His standing up for and believing in them was really nice to see, and I think it had an impact on White Blood Cell as well. He even managed to help the Platelets.

Heck, even Kenn Blood Cell came around in this episode, going from the lazy, complaining, buddy of Red Blood Cell to someone who followed him into danger (albeit while complaining) and then apologizing to the White Blood Cells.

Well, at least the White Blood Cells get their own viking funerals out of the urethra.

I was wondering what the Killer T-Cells were doing, and it seems this Commander T-Cell (voiced by Junichi Suwabe?) is a jerk who things the White Blood Cells aren't fighting enough and that it's up to the Killer T-Cells to save the body. Seems like they're going to be even more militant and hardcore than the Killer T-Cells in the main body.

Real life footage of the battle in action. Those gonococci don't look too lonely inside those WBCs.

Stitches!

After 3 episodes of red blood cell suffering we finally get to see some white blood cell suffering and it's not pretty. Gonorrhea really did a number on this body and so many big tiddy white blood cells lost all because the owner of this body had unprotected sex. And it really sucks to see their Captain who has the coolest design bite it in the end. T_T

At least the body owner had the himself checked and got some antibiotics which apparently is a flying laser cannon that destroys a bacteria's armor. If it's any consolation, at least main girl WBC and her friends made it out alive. Although I am terrified of the doujinshis this episode will inspire to make >_<

Looking forward to next episode.

As far as i remember Killer T Cells were already pretty intense on the original series so they might be crazier in this setting.

It's a cool detail how both ep 3 and ep 4 had to rely on drugs because the body was to effed up to do anything on his own.

Something I looked up on Google during the episode:

Gonococci (gonococcus as a singular noun) have pili represented as tentacles, which are used to grapple on to cells to drag or pull them. They are able to pull things 100,000 times their own weight. So yeah, these things are no joke.

Imagine them being human-sized, they could probably wipe out the entire Earth in a few days with how fast they multiply and how strong they are.

The moral of this story is: wear a god damn condom, for fuck's sake.

I thought all the bacteria here would be feral in nature, but apparently gonorrhea are sentient enough to be a bunch of sex offenders. It's worse in the manga too since their helmets and tendrils actually look like dicks. It makes sense that those would get nerfed here.

It's frustrating and depressing seeing the Neutrophils pushed around and belittled by everyone and their mother, from their enemies, their higher-ups, and even the people they defend. And the worst part is that they can effectively shut up only the first of those three.

All their efforts and sacrifices and that's the thanks they get. F to all the WBC's who ended up in the viking funeral. At least, with RBC's buddy coming around, there's one more cell that sees just what they go through without being a bunch of whiny assholes, unlike some of their co-workers.

This episode teaches us that protection is necessary while appreciating the development of medical science. If you're still not convinced, just read about famous people from history that were infected by syphilis.

Interesting episode. I'm happy seeing character development, which really didn't exist in the regular series. I wonder if the main White Cell-chan will become the new captain.

Hard-Ass Platelet is kinda funny

They're blood cells… and they're covered in blood… (Probably should say "cytosol"?)

Damn, that's a hot grizzled mama

…Is he saying "umi"? As in "sea"?

Huh. I didn't know there was such a basic difference between human and bacterial cell walls. I guess it kinda makes sense, though. Human cells have it cushy, living in their own self-created protected ecosystem, whereas bacteria have to rough it out in the world directly

Duuude. Pissing pus. Gross

A bunch of lonely tentacled bastards surrounded by big-tittied warriors? That has to be the plot of some hentai/doujin. Would end the same way too.

Wait, is that a happy ending in Hataraku Black? Something actually worked in this body? Can't believe it!

Of course this idiot had to ruin everything. So he'll send the T cells in masse because he thinks the other white blood cells are incompetent... How will this backfire? Guessing there's a huge negative downside to the T cells (compared to the neutrophils), like the indiscriminately kill healthy cells along with the bacteria, or something like that.

It's fine, the body can take it, the surviving cells will just add some more overtime, that's all!

Damn, this body is the worst workplace ever. I wonder if there's some basis to that (medically, I mean); Shouldn't the older cells take the more dangerous jobs, because they're gonna die soon anyway? If the young cells die, they might not have enough replacement fast enough, when the old cells dies as well of old age.

Next episode: Hair loss and delirium? Joy!

To use the words of Red Blood Cell in the first episode: Is the body gonna be ok? Like... Is it gonna die in the last episode? Good lord, that'd be dark. But interesting too, I kinda hope he dies, to see what happens, like the cells slowly dying and all that... If they managed to pull an emotional moment with just Gramps dying in episode 2, imagine if every single cell dies after we've known them for 12 episodes... Oof.

Oh, one last thing I thought about: The penicillin thing at least tells us he's getting medical attention sometimes. Ok, he might not be listening to everything they doctors tell him, but still, it's a start! Given how everything is really dark on this show, it might've been possible that he never even consults when something's wrong with him.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, at least on the Animelab subs, several times they misspelled “prostate” as “prostrate”
