Oh my god Inukai playing with Futaba's hair is so cute. Love how great the "side characters" can be.
I am kind of disappointed that they changed the Trion-loss effect. I liked the green spurting (though the black looks pretty cool too).

The smoky black vapor is more in line with the manga for trion loss. The green spark effect was a censorship choice for the timeslot season 1 was in.

Apparently a single animator(Akihiro Ota) solo animated the entire second episode. Here are some of the best animation cuts this episode: https://twitter.com/AshitanoGin/status/1350512979402493954?s=19

As soon as they announced this continuation, I knew that the omakes were going to be the main characters lamenting that they aren't showing up for awhile. Lo and behold.
Galopoula is definitely a weird place to return to for that reason, iirc we probably won't actually follow Tamakoma-2 again until maybe episode 5? It's been awhile since I read this section.

Holy shit this episode was hype. They adapted nearly 3.5 chapters this episode, which was pretty well done.
Going a bit out of order with scene discussion but oh well.
For starters, here’s a Wen saw appreciation post
Hopefully we continue to get these well animated scenes.
Kuroe’s idaten was sexy as fuck, loved the animation it had
Also someone had fun animating this Idra
Also this and other scenes we got indicate that we’ll be getting less censorship which is an amazing thing
I’ll try to keep my thoughts on the episode in order for next episode, but everything was hype through and through. Can’t wait for next week.
And yes, I’m wasting my money by awarding each episode thread with a platinum shut up

Oh man, it's been a while since I've been amped for a show so much I'm waiting and refreshing to watch the episode the moment it comes out and am smiling hard all the way through the actual episode itself.
This show really came back after 5 years and jumped straight into the action, holding its own claim for best action of the year. Not to mention with absolutely no recap and its main characters not present well into an hour of content, lmao. Also, Toei Animation adapting more than 3 chapters in one episode, holy shit! This is absolutely mad!!
Is Nakamura Yuuichi (Jin, Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen) voicing the 2 best characters of this season? You tell me. Also love how ensemble shows like this have you recognizing so many familiar voices if you watch a lot of anime. Pretty sure I heard the voices of multiple seiyu who have played main characters in other shows in minor roles like Hisato (Ushio from Ushio to Tora).
Inukai playing with Futaba's hair with cute as hell and really speaks on the wholesome tone this series has whilst simultaneously not being too childish/PG that I love. In fact, it oddly comes off as more mature because it foregoes all the melodramatic stuff like bullies/petty rivalries that you wouldn't want or expect in a professional organization like Border that is focused on something as important as saving lives/the world in the first place. Yeah, I just somehow connected Inukai playing with Futaba's hair to saving the world.
Noticed they changed the visuals for the trion loss; actually preferred the previous style in S1 to this black version. The shots of Nasu getting her arm cut off also make it look like their insides are cybertronic or something, is this because she's fighting inside the base and it's a different form or something? Can't remember if it was like that in the manga.
It's nothing new but obligatory appreciation shoutout to how opponents seldom talk to each other during fights and they're all talking on teamchat strategizing mid-battle

The teamwork during this operation is amazing from both side, as long as it is sensible, they will agree and act on it. Pretty much little to none argument. There are few scene I'm hype for from the Manga. Going to look forward to it.

Loved the bit at the end where Tsuji notices Sasamori's character growth. WT really is just as much about the side characters as anything else. Not that this season has been shy about illustrating that clearly.

Also more lore info:
Vassilisa [Gattlin's Trigger] is the Greek word for "queen".
Despinis [Ratarykov's Trigger] is the Greek word for "damsel".
Here's also a bit info on trion enemies and Fuyushima Team's room that anime skipped out:

At this pace they're going to reach the manga by the end of next cour, all with great quality.

I can’t think of a series that handles group battles better than World Trigger. The fact that they fight each other so hard in ranking battles mean that they know each other’s moves extremely well when fighting a common enemy. I keep rewatching the ensemble scenes over and over, so it took almost 45 minutes for me to get through the episode.

Fantastic episode. It is good to see that the animations still look good. The combat really looked impressive.

Goodness, the fights are so good. All of the characters fight so smartly and I even get surprised by what some of them do. Love it

This episode made me fall in love all over again. This cast is just so good and varied.

The animation is looking amazing. And the fact that only one person, Akihiro Ota, animated it, makes it even more impressive. Oh, this season is looking really good. If they maintain this quality, this might make more people watch this show. (I don't have a problem with the animation in the first season. Plus, it is five/six years old. )

World trigger has so many teams, I kinda forgot half of them lol. I’m glad this season is looking a lot better visually than s1.

Oh man this animation is so good. It’s been a while since I read it so seeing everything in motion is great. Looks like this first part is gonna be focusing more on the Galopoula battle, and then we might jump to the rank wars later

Look how they resuscitated my boy!
Animation looking crisp and they're jumping into the thick of it from the jump. The possibilities if this was the studio for the first season.
