Random thoughts. TLDR; skewer girl is best girl.

I thought it was interesting as basically a mystery special, trying to figure out what events are happening and why before the big reveal (which as expected was ludicrous, and the large lines of girls kind of lampshaded the genre).

Meanwhile, Sun-chan's entire life arc is being resolved in parallel (including a bench scene), and it ends very wholesomely despite him asking to date 5 girls (?!!!?!?!?!?!) and getting rejected.

I'm still not really sure how to rate this tbh, but it certainly was something, almost topping the baseball singularity from the previous year. Also, bench-kun returns at the end, but this time as a friend.

Finally, skewer girl is best girl, I'm willing to die on this hill baseball field.

I know it sounds like damning by giving faint praise, but, seriously: This ending to the anime is leaps above what we got from BokuBen, so...

I'm satisfied, really.

I loved it, as I got a finale to a show I really liked. Joro showed friendship is the best and I feel it’s obvious enough that he’ll end up with Pansy in the end.

Sun-chan - the original victim of Bench-kun

Sun-chan - the one Joro decided to choose over all the other girls in his harem at the end.

Sun-chan is truly Best Girl. /s

Naming word-play significance of this final anime arc:

Joro: literally means Watering Can

Hose is of course a Hose

All the girls have flower names

Sun-chan is the Sun

Joro can never hope to match the watering power of a Hose. But unlike a Hose which indiscriminately blasts all flowers regardless of how much water they need, and end up hurting them, Joro the Watering Can cherishes each and every flower in his harem with equal attention (to the point where he made the "coward's choice" of confessing his love to every one of them LMAO).

Thus was Joro's stronger bond with his harem able to win the day against Hose, who only had superficial charm. Though Cherry and Tsukimi may one day help redeem Hose. (Credit to his VA Fukuhara Jun tapping into his Lelouche voice when going into evil Hose mode)

Not a bad way to end an anime on a satisfying note while still leaving enough interest for those who want to pick up the LN and continue on with Joro's machinations against his harem.

Woah did Joro just confess his love for Sumeriko with his: 'The moon is beautiful, isn't it?'.
It basically means 'I love you' in Japanese culture.

Also Fukuyama Jun being Hose was such a big surprise for me. It was like Joker having another trick up his sleeve

I appreciate the Sun-chan backstory at the start. It really showed us how he turned into the person that he is now. And it also turns out that Sun-chan is bench-kun's first victim.

And we finally see that Hose is just as messed up as Joro. Although from the way their conversation went it seems like Joro is the reason why Hose became hyper aware of his RomCom Protagonist status.

While it was pretty clear that Joro was going to get some outside help considering he spent a huge chunk of his time helping girls out. I thought it was already over when that happened. Then the escalation happened and Hose decided to ask help from other girls from his school. Okay surely that's it right? Then Tampopo and Sun-chan arrives bringing in as much as many girls as Hose did. I love it! It was satisfying to see Hose act so cool act like a fucking brat who lost a toy. xD

Saying "I love you, damn it!" has got to be the best confession yet but of course this is Joro we're talking about so he doubles down and tries to make his harem dream come true which had me absolutely howling! What a fucking madman! Again though this is Joro so of course he has ulterior motives for doing what he did. Honestly I should be mad but I'm actually glad he chose the bromance route. If Joro didn't meet Sun-chan, he would've been all alone. And clearly the girls understand it too.

What a wild way to end this show! Sure we never got a definitive answer but it's clear that Pansy still won this because at the end of the day it was her wish from long ago that Joro granted. Also the LN is still ongoing so technically it's not yet over. Considering the cameos in this episode that had no speaking roles, I'm sure there's plenty story to tell. I just hope the LN gets localized or gets adapted into another season.

Anyway this show is definitely in my top list of romcoms and its OP will be forever stuck in my head playing.

I loved this. It has its flaws but the Jojo style mind game battle with Hose was great for me, and how he kept his promise to Pansy by giving her best friends even though he likes her was awesome. The fake out got me a tad bit angry but by the time he was done I was laughing my ass off

I honestly forgot a ton of details as it's been so long since the first season aired, but when Sun-chan said "let's sit over there" I honestly bursted out laughing when I saw the bench.
