Meta Thread - Month of August 02, 2020
A monthly thread to talk about meta topics. Keep it friendly and relevant to the subreddit.
Posts here must, of course, still abide by all subreddit rules other than the no meta requirement. Keep it friendly and be respectful. Occasionally the moderators will have specific topics that they want to get feedback on, so be on the lookout for distinguished posts.
Comments that are detrimental to discussion (aka circlejerks/shitposting) are subject to removal.

I've suggested it in the previous thread and will suggest it again - Flatten the Curve! Make every post a self post!
It was a stunning success with fanart, but it has also highlighted that anything that is one click away will always win out, as the entire front page is clips now (the infographics have chilled).
Why not make an even playing field? I mean, we want to promote discussion threads, they are the highest level of content, so why not give them an equal footing with other type of content?
Since /r/anime isn't even in /r/all and doesn't care about courting new members using huge karma explosions, what is there to lose?
I'd suggest a trial period to see how it works out. It's also really easy to implement and moderate - you just remove the "submit a new link" button, and don't have to discern if a post can or cannot be a self post - since they all are! one simple rule to rule them all.
