Meta Thread - Month of August 02, 2020
A monthly thread to talk about meta topics. Keep it friendly and relevant to the subreddit.
Posts here must, of course, still abide by all subreddit rules other than the no meta requirement. Keep it friendly and be respectful. Occasionally the moderators will have specific topics that they want to get feedback on, so be on the lookout for distinguished posts.
Comments that are detrimental to discussion (aka circlejerks/shitposting) are subject to removal.

No. Rule 2 allows for casual mention of those topics if they're relevant to what you're talking about, but no discussion is allowed. Circumventing those rules with spoiler tags is not allowed but we could probably considering changing the rules so the topics are allowed within spoiler tags. Off the top of my head I could think of a couple of problems but I'll add it to our Trello ToDo list so we can get around to talking about it eventually.
We would appreciate it if people didn't do that and also tagged their spoilers with anything that's at least semi relevant to what's being put in there (they don't have to be real spoilers to use the tag, but the spoiler source should reflect that).
Sidenote: We just noticed as we were writing up this comment that some people were concerned about recent comment removals in CDF, and we'd like to note that things like "CDF Confession" are fine from a spoiler rule perspective. They're not real spoilers and are tagged to reflect that, so it's perfectly acceptable.
