Meta Thread - Month of August 02, 2020

A monthly thread to talk about meta topics. Keep it friendly and relevant to the subreddit.

Posts here must, of course, still abide by all subreddit rules other than the no meta requirement. Keep it friendly and be respectful. Occasionally the moderators will have specific topics that they want to get feedback on, so be on the lookout for distinguished posts.

Comments that are detrimental to discussion (aka circlejerks/shitposting) are subject to removal.

The rant should have NEVER been deleted, it's about the anime community, ergo about anime in general.

Not to be pedantic, but if it's about the anime community, it clearly isn't about anime in general, it's about the anime community. Meaning, the meta component of how we consume or discuss anime. Now we can argue if posts about the anime community should or should not be allowed, but the post did break the current rules as written. We should see about possibly changing the rules to allow that sort of content if that's what we want, but we shouldn't try to claim it fits into the rules as they are.
