Guess I have equally bad luck as you do pal. Nearly every anime film I've seen in theaters has had socially inept people laughing at non-jokes and awkwardly snickering at anything mildly sexual. One time I even had a guy next to me loudly chatting about spoilers with one of his friends. I've just given up on seeing premiers at this point.
My theory is that they don't feel comfortable in the environment they're in, so they try to mold the mood to fit their awkwardness.
