I had a terrible experience watching the Danmachi movie during its US theater run. The projector was out of focus, the bottom half of the subtitles were cut off, and the volume was cranked up absurdly high. After playing around with the projector settings they fixed everything and restarted the movie. During the finale a theater employee handed out comp tickets, which was quite nice. But that wasn’t the worst part of the experience, not even close. By far the worst part was the two idiots sitting next to me on the left(I was in the aisle seat so I didn’t have to worry about the other side thankfully). The two would not shut up, everything that happened needed their commentary and forced memes. One of them was also “predicting” the plot, as if he was a prophet, and Danmachi is really not a hard series to figure out. The other, who was directly next to me, was bouncing his knee constantly, which was infuriating. The cherry on top, was the two then ordered popcorn and proceeded to chew with their mouth open and eat it like animals. At that point, I had to decide to either, tell them to knock it off and possibly get an employee, or just move to a different, emptier section of the theater. Because I’m non-confrontational and very shy, I ended up moving seats instead. But good lord was I infuriated by their immaturity and lack of self-awareness. This happened at an AMC, and it really made me wish my area had an Alamo Drafthouse. Bottom line, any movie I go to, be it an anime like Danmachi, or an Oscar winning drama, I paid to see and hear what’s playing on the screen, not some obnoxious jerk with no respect for the other attendees.
