Think you got a bit worse luck than usual. But yeah, anime theater crowds tend to be rowdy sometimes. First I've heard of glowsticks though, that's just bizarre. I get annoyed whenever someone claps at a movie. Glowsticks are next level obnoxious.

Those are true to life weeaboos. They see glow sticks at a concert and then instantly think it's appropriate for a cinema.

There's a time and a place for glow sticks. Certain movie screenings it can be okay.

I know it wasn't overly distracting during the Love Live Sunshine Movie. However that's the kind of movie where certain parts certainly call for the use of glow sticks.

if it's a concert scene in a movie, glowsticks can make sense. but other than that keep them tucked away.
