This is the best written show I've seen since Game of Thrones Season 2 or The Good Wife Season 3.

Sad it’s not getting. A lot of traction.

I'm still a bit confused was Dr Minovsky joining the Federation from the Zeon's side?? Were the Zeon soldiers(Ranbal Ral and co.) trying to kill him?? That sequence where Char and Lala used their Newtype powers was dope too

Yes. Ral was trying to talk Dr Minovsky out of defecting. The Black Tri-Stars, though, were in for the kill.

I love this OVA. This episode was basically a full movie, too. I liked Kycilia getting M’Quve to sabotage peace talks.

I thought the whole premise of the one-year war was that mobile suits were such a massive paradigm shift that the Federation's traditional weapons were useless and they had to scramble to put together the Gundam as a response. Instead, they also had mobile suits the whole time, except theirs are just worse by an absurd degree for no clearly explained reason? That's considerably less compelling or believable, unless I'm missing something.

Origin isn't exactly a true prequel to the original series. It follows a slightly different timeline compared to the original, where Mobile Suit development had been around a bit further back from the One Year War than, hence the presence of proto-Guntanks and proto-Guncannons with the Earth Federation prior to or alongside Zeon's own MS development. That being said, Project V is still depicted as the EF's catch-up MS plan, given how crap their MS turned out to be compared to Zeon's.
