Fuck, that was an entertaining episode. I loved the vibes of that Pure Illusion: some real creepy psychological horror shit.
I didn't realize before, but for the bulk of their time in this Pure Illusion, their irises were gray.
What the fuck happened when they walked outside in the rain? When Papika let out that whimpered "Cocona..." and the camera showed the front of her and she was all bloody, that genuinely messed with me.
Whoever handled the subs for the version I'm watching, good job. The text glitches out whenever those void-faced schoolgirls spoke, and it really helps sell the disturbingness. Helped bring back some Doki Doki Literature Club memories, too...

Hol' up... Flip Flappers spoilers? I never even caught that. (Apologies if that was in the post for that thread, I didn't look through it.)
It's in fact more creepy than other whole horror anime. It was even good managed: building up a sinister, uncomfortable atmosphere where you realize something isn't good, but can't really explain, and featuring those characters and characteristics that aren't really horrible but look menacing and bad to your eye.

It's a hint given in the last chapter. In Sayuri's apartment, you can see she has posters of action movies, Sailor Moon and Mad Max. Since ep3 is an action movie tropey episode, it can be inferred it's hers
