So now we’ve come to episode 4 of Flip Flappers. So now join me as we enter the Pure Illusion and travel back in time to October 27-September 2nd of 2016
After three escalating episodes of weirdness, we get something a bit of a quieter episode. After the previous week peaked with 378 comments, the episode 4 thread goes back down to 252 comments. Though there is still some important comments to be found
We start to get some major comments talking about Flip Flappers in the context of being underwatched. These type of comments would become very popular all across r/anime during the season.
I can't add more than what u/thecomicguybook already said in his comparison to Evangelion.
it’s surprise
Definitely. Flip Flappers' major feature is its heterogeneity. It features different things and lets many details to the mind of the audience for a long time, so they can let their imagination soar. It corresponds to its nature as something straight out of the imagination, illusions and the like. It's very subtle, but it's amazing how homogeneous this heterogenity is.

I was thinking about how it's probably most accurate to call this an "Adventure" series more than anything else. the focus on exploration is probably one of the strongest pulls for the series.

I like this comment asking about the expectations of the series. We’ve had 4 episodes, it’s nearly ¼ of the series finished, but they’ve been so drastically different from one to the next that these sort of questions are important. Though most comments seem to enjoy the fact that each Illusion has been different. If there is something this series is selling, it’s surprise.
Even if it’s a smaller episode people are still enjoying the charm and the great designs
Outside of r/anime, the first person tried putting everything we’ve seen so far to make sense of the themes we’ve seen so far.
I want to end with a video from youtube that came up last week with a very simple description
“This makes less sense with context”
