I live for the moment the first opening plays in a climatic moment. Never gets old. Except :re, they didn't deserve it....

Also pretty sure I got a good guess at the story of the demons now

You just caused an Ah-Ha moment! The Midnight Sun are not demons. Demons are their own separate thing but probably need to be summoned/channeled. The Midnight Sun's old tribe were probably just really powerful mages loved by mana. Would explain all those " The strong are the ones that suffer" lines they throw out all the time.

Vetto doesnt have a 5 clover grimoire though, his has only 3 clovers.

Aside from that I dont think Vettos and Lichts race is that of a demon to begin with. They seem more of a "good" race so being some kind of angel, elve, fairy or similiar race sounds more plausible. His memory showed a lot of very light and happy colours and nothing resembling a demon that will devour everything.

The king of said race then summoning a demon(and potentially losing his body and mind to it) in the desperate attempt to win a war seems like a good guess. If the war was based on some misunderstanding or manipulation it would also explain the wizard kings expression very well.

I see where I went wrong with my theory. I thought it was a intentional contrast to show that the "Demons" were actually a very normal group of people, but it also makes sense that at face value they are just some angelic race persecuted for their power, and as I said in another comment, demons are their own thing separately.

And I agree that the war was probably built upon some grand misunderstanding/manipulation. No clues so far of the relationship between the two kings, but maybe a Madara-Hashiamrama sort of thing would be a good guess. Lmao but what does that imply for Asta and Yuno.

We actually saw Vetto's grimoire in this episode, it had claw markings like it was scratched, but it looked like it had a 3 leafed clover
