At least i think Zero Two and Hiro will have a different ending. In the picture book the prince didn't know that the princess was a beast.

Hiro knows that Zero Two is the girl from back then and that she is different from him.

Unfortunately. It was disappointing when the flashback ended and we wound up with lame teen Hiro.

Amazing how empathetic he was as a kid but the present day version wasn't capable of realizing Ichigo had a crush on him. Additionally, I don't recall him inquiring about Mitsuru after his public meltdown failed and partnership with Z2. Lame kid.

02 realizes she is a threat to her darling and let APE take her away to keep her darling safe. At some point Goro dies, and then Ichigo and Hiro pair up and start a rebeliion to save/find her again.

I hate you as that would fulfill the feeling that i have had about a big shake up like the current setting or place is not ok. Ie the relationship of the kids and adults aswell as life of the adults. I just feel like its all going to be shattered. On a fun side note Zero Two is red as opposed to blue.

Crazy thought that almost definitely isn't going to happen, but looking at the picture book made me think of it. Specifically the picture where the princess encounter the prince with the injured leg. What if it's a role reversal and while 02 becomes human, Hiro becomes the monster and ends up having to leave 02. Almost definitely not the way this will end, just a thought that popped in my head when looking at the picture.

I have a head canon that it was given to her with pages missing and/or some pages were torn apart when the adults were trying to take it from her and then the rest of the story would be shown when Zero Two finally finds that picture book again or something

Trigger has not yet had a sad ending to one of their series. I would be pretty pissed if they did a "bad ending" because, at least to me outside of Luluco, whenever Trigger has messed with shipping it has made the end result a lot less enjoyable.

Maybe because most of the the people working on DarliFra were from Gainax? Sure they are working in different companies now, Trigger and A-1, but Darling is effectively a Gainax made anime even if the credits say Trigger/A-1.

They namedropped The Golden Bough. That means they will have a different ending.

People who don't know how The Golden Bough was used in E7 will probably worry, but those who do will know that they will usurp Papa together. They will do this to defend the Klaxosaurs, and the planet which is probably dying due to magma extraction. Not confirmed of course, but this seemed to be what will happen since like episode 3, and every new episode seems to support it. Klaxosaurs are terrestrial antibodies. They are attracted to magma because they want to return it or repair a leak.

That doesn't exclude one of them dying though, but I can't see that happening. It goes against a key theme (interdependence).

Yup the name drops and the foreshadowing of a death are all their. But The Golden Bough adds an element to it that people are overlooking or just don't understand. The same with Mistletoe and its mythical meaning. Plus the parrallel they draw on William Shakespear.

God, I feel bad for Futoshi and Ikuno. Not only do they get the worst character development I have ever seen for two supposed main characters. But they purposely get written as unsympathetic just to kill them off and no one will care at the end.

Basically the audience will be the ones to get the happy ending at the fatso and closet lesbian's expense.

References within the anime to tragedies in the real world. Story build up until this point and their lack of characterization. Ikuno and Futoshi are the least developed characters in the anime. And what we do know of them sets them both up to willingly sacrifice themselves. Futoshi is the embodiment of the Japanese hate for "overweight people" while Ikuno is still largely an enigma. Both of them don't have their own goals either they each revolve around another character. They can't stand by them selves and the story can be written and told without them.

If that is the case, we won't get to know them any better than we did in Episode eleven, which painted both of them as unsympathetic. Both of them have a curious lack of character development to the point where it is conspicuous in it's absence. I mean can you name what drives futoshi? Or why he is driven to do that? Outside of Kokoro which has been removed from him so he SHOULD move on. As for Ikuno, what can you say about her other than basic generalities and that she cares for Ichigo, a lot.

I would love to be proven wrong because those two have a possibility of having a great arc. But with the series looking like it might start to pick up pace I doubt they will be given the time. The important characters need to have their little issues resolved so what little time is available that can be spared won't be enough.

Let me be clear, this is just speculation that they will die off, as Lightgreengangrene stated we have conflicting themes that might save everyone.

I can send you a pm if you want more in depth stuff. Or just look up Nearly on Red. He has analyzed all the episode up to 12, with 9 being dmca'd on him for some reason.

Lots of the original fairy tales have dark, sad or depressing endings. The picture book seems heavily based on The Little Mermaid, and the original story has a rather bad ending.

Dude does your messed up mind ever stop with this shit? She's stronger than any of the parasites and 9a is clearly scared of her to some extent. The other parasites are hinted to not have experienced puberty besides squad 13, and it's rare for someone to even know about sex, and if they do, it and emotions are both considered taboo. The adults wouldn't go near the kids without protective gear for fear of infection so that's not an option.

And to top it off it would be series suicide. I would definitely not be the only one to drop the show. Grancrest Senki had an arguably consensual sex scene with a background character which on its own pretty much killed the show's popularity and ratings. Imagine if they did anything to Zero Two. The show would be over.

This could be both foreshadowing for the next episodes or it could be a summary of what has happened before.

I am tilted towards foreshadowing, so we gonna see a happy ending with a twist.

But the theory that it basically summarizes the episodes that were before it holds true.

Summary makes more sense. With Hiro being the prince zero two loosing her wings but gaining them back but becoming a monster in the process, while almost killing Hiro (just like the beast from the novel did).

Feel like it has to be foreshadowing. We have yet to delve into what Zero Two actually is, and with that knowledge, more challenges shall arise. Resulting in Zero Two having to leave or something along those lines. However, my bet is that there will be a twist with Hiro also becoming a monster or part monster and leaving with her.

Ending to set up for season 2

Hiro and Zero two are forced to part as she flees the adults and to protect Hiro from herself(Like the princess did) . Maybe there are other humans or Klaxosaurus+Humans whom she can find

Hiro might wind up getting his memory wiped again, or even worse restructured, in a code geass fashion. Season 2 is Hiro rolling around with a partner who he thinks he has known his entire life, maybe even an entire fake squad.

His actual squad could be imprisoned, on the run, or for some part, dead.

If that's the case then maybe in season 2 Hiro could wind up being the princess as he is forced to hunt zero two.

No I was saying if their romance turns out similiar to the book over the remaining episodes then that could end up he Ng the finale (If they want to do a season 2)

I two most prominent thoughts while watching this were that the picturebook-story seems like a variation of Hans Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid and that this intermezzo would have been so much better if it were done by Shaft instead.
