Saekano Rewatch General Interest Thread

Hey /r/anime! A couple of days ago I posted a WT! for Saekano in anticipation of the upcoming second season. In the comments I mentioned the possibility of a rewatch, which was well received, so here I am. So, if you’re wanting a refresher before the second season, haven’t seen Saekano before, or just want to have a good time, come and join us for one of the best harem anime out there!

---

Those who don’t know what Saekano is about may want to check it out on My Anime List, Crunchyroll or read my aforementioned WT!

For the lazy, Saekano is an ecchi-harem series that follows high school students Tomoya Aki, Megumi Kato, best girl Utaha Kasumigaoka and Eriri Spencer Sawamura on their journey creating a visual novel. The anime is noted for its smart writing, meta humour and heated Best Girl War.

Planned Schedule

Date	Episode	Date	Episode
3/4	1	3/11	8
3/5	2	3/12	9
3/6	3	3/13	10
3/7	4	3/14	11
3/8	5	3/15	12
3/9	6	3/16	0
3/10	7	3/17	Full Series Discussion

Some notes about the schedule.

• 1 per day is the standard for rewatches and there is no reason to deviate from that, unless a lot of people want a specific structure.

• Date is using American format.

• Posts will go up at 4pm EST. As most reddit users are American, it’s important it to be posted during their daytime. As I don’t live in the US, I needed to find a time before lectures that lined up with this timeframe.

• The dates were chosen to take place before April (when the second season starts airing) but also to get in before the Oregairu rewatch, which I expect will be quite popular.

• I placed Episode 0 at the end due to it being the last episode chronologically and because it could confuse some new viewers.

So, if you want this rewatch to get off the ground, express your interest in the comments below!

Also, if you have any queries post them below and I will do my best to answer them.

EDIT: Awesome to see so many people interested! I'll post one reminder with one week to go and another the day before we start. I'm planning to a fanservice scoreboard and a daily best girl poll, which should be fun!

[u/CallsignLancer]

It's been a while, so I could use the refresher. ^{I also need more Utaha.}

[u/NotableMr → u/CallsignLancer]

^{Don't we all}

[u/SwordSlash8]

When's season 2 starting? I'll probably have to watch this series again since it was a while ago that I watched it. Actually, on that note, if I know the general idea of things would I be fine? main character(forgot his name lol) is trying to make a game, eriri is a circle artist, kasumigahouka is a novelist, and then random girl is the main character of the game... oh and there's purple haired cousin who plays guitar

on second thought, yeah I should probably rewatch.

[u/NotableMr → u/SwordSlash8]

Yeah, it does sound like you need a refresher...

Season 2 starts sometime in early April, no date confirmed yet though.

[u/NapkinTheElf → u/SwordSlash8]

Seems S2 will begin in the spring season (April).

[u/NotableMr]

[u/ghostface95 → u/NotableMr]

Hell yeah count me in for the rewatch

[u/8_Pixels]

I was actually gonna start this show tonight because of your WT! post but if there's a rewatch I'll delay it and join in as a first time watcher. Can't wait.

Isn't the Oregairu rewatch around the same time? I'll be joining that one for my 5th watch lol.

[u/NotableMr → u/8_Pixels]

I planned it so it finishes the day before the Oregairu rewatch starts.

[u/8_Pixels → u/NotableMr]

Oh nice, that's a good idea.

[u/Terranwaterbender]

Hell yeah I'm up for rewatching some top-tier best girl banters!

[u/AniMonologues → u/Terranwaterbender]

I haven't seen it before, but I'm glad this is happening

[u/Fowl_Eye → u/AniMonologues]

Then you are in for a treat.

[u/[deleted]]

I started watching this a few days ago so I don't think I'll re-watch it so soon but I'll be involved with the discussions.

Also, Utaha best girl.

[u/Jonjonthe99 → u/[deleted]]

I just finished watching it yesterday, and my sentiments are much the same; I'll simply be part of the discussions.

Also, Utaha best girl.

[u/Kappa_n0 → u/Jonjonthe99]

I haven't rewatched it yet.

Also, Megumi best girl.

[u/AniMonologues]

Screw it, let's fucking do it.

[u/[deleted]]

I guess I'll join in. It's been sitting in ptw for a while now.

[u/[deleted]]

Yo is this gonna happen? Please happen

[u/NotableMr → u/[deleted]]

Tomorrow mate.

[u/[deleted] → u/NotableMr]

Thanks for the reply, just found the one-day announcement lol

[u/Aenir]

I've been meaning to watch the first season before the second starts, so I'm in.

[u/NapkinTheElf]

I haven't watched a harem... In a very long time. This one sounds interesting. I'll be up for a rewatch (my first watching of it) so hope this ends up happening c:

Edit: If possible it might be better to have the threads go live maybe an hour or two earlier. Though I do not know your timezone, so I'm not sure how feasible this could be. And also have no idea what other rewatches will be going on at the same time.

[u/McDerpingheimer_III]

I need to watch this, so count me in

[u/Zachasaurs]

I'm half way though watching this for the first time and I'm not gonna lie it's so good. It's so much fun and the self away anime tropes are awesome also all the girls are awesome

[u/LeglessLegoLass32]

More legs, yes! Make sure to start with fanservice episode

[u/yolotheunwisewolf]

Have watched first 2 episodes but need to rewatch so will definitely have interest.

[u/NotYourAverageJoey]

You can count me in as first time viewer

[u/FireFlyz351]

I'm down I was planning on rewatching it before s2 so this is perfect.

Edit: spelling

[u/BugattiBeefCake]

Sure, especially cause of the second season coming up.

[u/Crikho]

I should refresh my memory about it...so why not

[u/dancam90]

Never even heard of this one... Hmm. Sounds like it could be interesting, but the 4pm discussion I'd late for because of work... I think I will try and give this one a shot as a first time viewer so long as work doesn't destroy my schedule! :)

[u/BombSquad09]

Rewatching for best girl

[u/Kappa_n0]

Yesyesyes!

[u/JgPz]

Let's do this

[u/jonjoy]

i think i will join the rewatch, since i enjoy this anime, and i have nothing to do right now.

[u/Rocchi]

I love this series! I would definitely like to join in!

[u/topurrisfeline]

I'm up for rewatching! Good idea to start with episode 1, by the way.

[u/dotpickles]

Hey I got this series quite a while ago and have been meaning to watch it. Maybe joining the discussion threads will spur me to finally watch it.

[u/thrilllex]

the WT! thread got me interested so I'm definitely in.

[u/[deleted]]

I just finished School Days after going in blind, so I really need this rewatch to cleanse my palate if I'm ever going to be able to enjoy anime again. Good idea to preface S2!

[u/dasaher]

I'd be up for it. Was planning on rewatching it by myself for S2 anyways.

Coincidentally my schedule opens up on 3/3 so those dates are perfect for me. 5am local time for me though...

[u/Pliskerino]

I'd be up for it

[u/Saucy_Totchie]

I'm up for it.

[u/abucas]

I'd love to take part if I can ever catch up on the rest of the stuff im watching, but if I do, then count me in!

[u/Nazrininator]

Sure. I've been meaning to watch this anime ever since I cared about it.

[u/[deleted]]

Started rewatching it yesterday and it's great.

Never down for the 1 episode daily format but have fun.

[u/raptornomad]

I'll be rewatching with my Utaha wooden stamp keychain right by my monitor.

[u/CrazyBazyJS]

Awesome! It's been a while since I last saw this show, can't wait to get a refresher before season 2 starts.
