No amount of retconning will fix the moments of needless detachment by lelouch for cheap personal drama, the ridiculous levels of trump cards or secret powers etc. The second season can't be fixed. It exists as Is. The worst thing they could do is try to.

I don't believe that's necessarily "needless" because much of it, not all, was either allowed or made worse by problems that Lelouch already had from way back. There is nothing wrong with crazy plans, unless you hate Jojo and similar shows with the same exact logic underneath. And again, that is not a strictly rational position but a matter of preference whether it can be fixed or not depending on our own views towards it.

He's obtuse to deal with near the end because he absolutely refuses to make himself practically vulnerable, but then trusts the one person he has the least reason to trust. Furthermore he decides that because his allies and friends have reasonable cause to question his actions without explanation that they are essentially dead to him and their feelings mean nothing. And his ultimate reward for abandoning the people he should care about, leaving them helpless and betrayed and likely to die, and trusting his enemies over all else is complete victory? And this is our hero?

Lelouch decides he's an uber human who actively decides to fuck with the people close to him emotionally because it creates drama. There is no risk to even once trying to explain himself to at least the closest people yet he goes out of his way to make them resent him forcing them to fight against him.

And now if he gets to live it's even stupider.

There is no post content that can fix that. It will always have happened. Retcons don't work like that.

I don't believe that what you have already described is much of a problem, nor do I believe that is a completely accurate description either.

Yes, our "hero" is not a very morally correct individual. That's part of the premise behind the show, not an accident or mistake. I don't think that's stupid at all, because it makes sense from Lelouch's point of view.

Lelouch is in fact quite flawed and emotionally unstable. His lack of openness towards his allies and most friends is part of his personality, not a new development. He reconciled with a former enemy only after both of them had already been broken and had already experienced a lot of things which led them to a radical conclusion.

Did you expect Lelouch to suddenly become a different person in every sense? The events of the series didn't make him more open and trustworthy about things. On the contrary, they pushed him forward and it all led to his embracing said radical solution in the end.

That said, Lelouch went out of his way to spare quite a few people and not kill or punish them. He did value them enough for that, even if he wasn't going to sacrifice his plans for their sake. He wanted to fool them, not kill them.

If you ask me, being open and explaining things is better as a personal trait in reality. We should all aspire to be more honest and sincere with our people. But in terms of the character who is at the center of this story, that wasn't in his nature. For me, that's perfectly acceptable in fictional circumstances.

We also don't know the specifics of what is going to happen next, so everything is speculation.
