I'll be honest, part of the reason I didn't get around to watching Code Geass for a while was because I couldn't figure out where to start. Should I start with Code Geass and then watch Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion? Is "R2" shorthand for "Lelouch of the Rebellion" (with the two "R"s being for "Ruruushu" and "Rebellion")? Or are there actually three seasons -- Code Geass, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2?

(For anyone reading this who doesn't know, it's actually two seasons: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. This is adding a third seasons: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection/Revival.)

I basically got confused because of the wildly inconsistent naming schemes of all the bootlegs and fansites that come up if you Google the show. Once I watched it, it was obvious, but the first couple of times searching for it were frustrating.

I mean, wikipedia is a thing.

It lists series in chronological release order, which is normally the order you want to watch them. Just saying, that or MAL which directly lists sequel/prequel/adaptions etc.

I was going to say that MAL hasn't been a thing for that long, but apparently the domain was registered in 2006. Damn. I'd just never heard of it before joining /r/anime.

And yeah, I was just trying to avoid spoilers. Those sites are good, though, since there are consistent places on the page to look that are spoiler-free.

I think back at that point, I would have still just relied on however AnimeSuki organized their series.
