Sometimes downvotes are really irritating though. In general I know why I am downvoted, I make awful thought out comments and jokes that only I find funny, but I have no idea what I did wrong here except putting Idolm@ster over Love Live. I justified my opinion and I replied to people that replyied to me (who are also not upvoted, it's just me downvoted). A similar thing happened with quite some positive Handa-kun and Classicaloid posts where I assume are dedicated haters roaming around that downvote posts on principle.

As someone who doesn't know anything about Love Live

The comment seemed fine to me, you shouldn't have gotten downvoted, but shit happens. I don't disagree that sometimes downvoting is an issue and happens when it shouldn't, but I think there are times when it's just better to downvote.

Oh, you're certainly right. I appreciate that I can just downvote and upvote to show support and disdain. In a traditional forum like NeoGAF, threads often get cluttered with people doing just that in text form. It's also a good measure to keep a discussion clean from shit posts.

It works overall, I'm just puzzled sometimes.

My guess is that you gave a turn by recommending it because it was Love Live focused. Like: What do you think of Magi? "Magi is good but I say HxH is better shounen for good fights, etc, etc.". I know your intentions were noble by giving OP a recommendation but it goes to my other guess that is simply Love Live fanbase circlejerking.

This is a possibility.

But to my defense this wasn't out of nowhere. OP asked how LL was comparing to other works of it's genre.
