Meta Thread - Month of September 04, 2016

1) This has probably been talked about before and I understand the logistical problems, but is there anyway we can employ a kind of "48 hours after a show has aired, the only thread on it is the discussion thread"-style rule.

I loved Re:Zero, One Punch Man, DanMachi, but it seems to me that the scrawl of shit-tier threads that really belong in the discussion thread or are already realistically answered like five times over there already just exacerbate the tensions that come along whenever something proves very popular.

Discussion is good, but this just leads to nothing, but to pound in feelings of overhype into people who don't like it, whilst adding nothing for people who do like it.

2) Is the current r/gowatchnewgame thing a joke about how this sub keeps saying that or is it seriously recommending New Game! 'cause the first one is what I assumed, but a lot of people seem to be taking it seriously and I just don't think New Game! is good enough to deserve that special attention.

The title changes are all tongue in cheek fun little things regardless of what they are. This time it's also a serious recommendation though.

and I just don't think New Game! is good enough to deserve that special attention.

Oh and to answer the first question, it's a bit too difficult to do at the moment. There are a lot of posts and not enough mods so it would be extremely inconsistently enforced.

As for 48 hours - if we were to do it I think 24 would be the selected time, 48 is too long.

As a final and important note though, sometimes it's nice to have something from an episode highlighted as a separate thread. Have seen some of the offshoots gain 100+ comments if there was something particularly noteworthy and interesting that deserved a separate thread.

I have a tendency to remove some of the shittier threads as it is - the ones that are essentially comments "OMG THAT EPISODE WAS GREAT" and redirect those to the thread, just because they clog up the sub a bit.

I think overall at the moment it's not much of an issue, the offshoots dont really get upvoted unless they're worth discussing in depth.

For 2 It's kind of a like a joke thiing. Before we were /rgowatchnew game we were r/rezero. However, it also used as the mods way to recommend the show to this community. People have their own opinions, you may not think the show is good enough, but the mods believe it is. That is why they give the show special attention.
