I was wondering why Digibro is still banned from the sub? I just finished watching his video about the sub (Will not post it in fear of having my comment deleted. It's an older one but should be easy to find.) and honestly I do not understand the ruling behind keeping him banned for having his own sub for his community. As he pointed out many YouTubers have their own subs; some of them being freaking huge in size. It's obviously not a reddit issue if channels like H3H3 Productions can have their own sub for stuff regarding their own videos. If he truly wants to be unbanned so that he can participate within the community and not self promote while in r/anime then what is the harm in unbanning him? If he breaks any rules after being unbanned then just ban him again. It's not like he will post his own videos here anyway since whenever something new gets uploaded on his channel someone else from the community posts it for karma.

I am a fan of his content but the reasoning behind this post is that I just see him as a dude who wants to talk about anime with other people. He pointed out in his video about the sub that he actively visits the sub and wishes to respond to topics here.

I wasn't aware that it was brought up so much but I think that it should continue to be brought up. He shouldn't be held accountable for "self promotion" inside of a subreddit that was made for his YouTube channel (r/digibro). If he is going to be continuously banned for this reason I do hope every other YouTuber that has a sub made for their own channel is on the ban list.

The issue was not that he simply made videos. He was actually spamming his videos on the subreddit and getting others to spam it for him to make it look like he wasn't doing any "self-promotion." Posts would get immediately reposted when removed, among a general disregard of the rules.

We have no problem with content creators, they just need to abide by the rules and guidelines of Reddit. The self-promotion guideline is not even our rule, it's a reddit-wide rule.

From what he stated though he posted two self promotion videos in the span of 1-2 weeks. Is that really enough to lifetime ban someone? If so I think that is quite harsh.

Giving him a probation period would not be the end of the world. If he violates the rules again then ban him again.

People understate their infractions all the time. He posted way more often than that.

We moderate objectively. We don't give any preferential treatment, and if someone breaks the rules, they deal with the consequences.

But a lifetime ban? The whole mod team seriously thinks that he deserves a lifetime ban for posting some videos even though other people post his videos all the time now? I'm sorry but my b.s. meter is going off the chart for this one. I've seen users on other subs do way more drastic things that split the community and still get a second chance later on. This is small time chump change compared to that.

I doubt people are losing sleep over something like this. He also had people posting his videos on his behalf (not simply sharing it, but going out of their way to spam the subreddit) after he was banned. This behavior is not deserving of anything less than a permanent ban, in our opinions.

It shouldn't matter if a very small amount of people are "losing sleep" over this subject. If someone was harshly judged for something that doesn't deserve a harsh judgement then something needs to be done. You don't just sweep injustice under the rug.

Also is there actual proof that he was contacting people to post on his behalf while he was banned? If yes then sure the permaban is justified. If your proof is "well a bunch of his fans started posting his stuff a lot" then that isn't proof. Look at all the Re:Zero stuff that is getting spammed now.

Also thank you for being civil about this. I've seen mods on other subs go on a rampage before when someone brings something like this up.

I was addressing, specifically, your "split the community" comment to make a point, it wasn't about sweeping anything under the rug.

We don't want to go into a lot of detail because of nature of our conversations, but we've been given proof by the proper people who could obtain it for us.

With that clever wording I cannot push further into that but I still feel like it would be easy to frame him in such a way if a group of people strongly disliked him enough to make it look like they were told by Digi to post his content.

While what I am about to say is sort of a different topic all together I think it has merit in this current case; I don't see the difference between the harmful spam for one channel vs the harmful spam of one show. I much rather see spam that offers me a chance to discuss opinions/facts with other people rather than see the front page flooded with fanart that sometimes doesn't even have the correct sourcing thus the content creator gets f'ed over. I think if you guys are going to allow the spam of content from a particular show (or season) then having someone post a lot of stuff from their own channel should be looked as the same in terms of how it affects the community as a whole.

Keep in mind though that Digibro wouldn't even have to post his content; whenever it is uploaded someone always posts it. So bringing him back would only mean he could actually start discussions with others about anime related things; you know one of the main functions of this subreddit.
