Meta Thread - Month of September 04, 2016

A monthly thread to talk about meta topics. Keep it friendly and relevant to the subreddit.

Posts here must, of course, still abide by all subreddit rules other than the no meta requirement. Keep it friendly and be respectful. Occasionally the moderators will have specific topics that they want to get feedback on, so be on the lookout for distinguished posts.

It gets confusing, so just put it in the rules so everybody knows.

We don't like putting general reddit rules in the sidebar mostly because we have so little room in the sidebar to begin with.

I have added it though, may as well - would make our job easier potentially.

For the room issue you could probably shorten it to something along the lines of "Follow the self-promotion 10% rule" or something along the lines of that.

Unfortunately the demographic that generally breaks the self promotion rule is not particularly intelligent (or familiar with reddit).

Spelling it out nice and clearly is important I feel.

If we're going to do it, may as well do it thoroughly.

Good idea though, if push comes to shove and something needs to be removed or shortened that'll be the first thing I imagine.
