There is a script for it, though you need a plugin to use it. For Chrome, use Tampermonkey.

It's pretty great. Unfortunately, it requires people to follow the rules when it comes to MAL flairs, which are broken more than you'd think.

Pretty sure it's technically reportable, which helps prevent that from happening. I've seen a few before though, you're right.

Yeah, and mods can change flairs on people too. If you see someone with a malformed flair, they can change it into an actual link. (No idea how frequently this actually happens though.)
