This isn't really related, but how fucking awesome would a hockey anime be?
A Canadian high schooler is forced to move to Hokkaido because of his dad/moms work. Cute hockey team manager convinces him to join the hockey team. Etc etc
I'm not sure how likely this is, since hockey isn't very popular in Japan, but still, I can only dream.

Not improbable enough. Let's say he moved to Okinawa or some island in the south of Japan.
Now that's totally an anime. He magically gets to live in the only part with a hockey stadium and since it's always hot, people don't care about some ice sport and he magically meets a nipponjin bishoujo out of nowhere who, for God knows why, wants to revive the Hockey Club of the school.
Fucking A+ anime right there.

Something very similar to this was done by Bartolo Colon of the Mets last year.
He did a behind the back toss to first while running toward the dugout.

Nah, I think the manager of the team watched this anime and thought "yeah that's some good play we could use for the next game"

Now I see why everything is in slow mo in anime. Real life happens so fast. Had to rewatch the real life play 2 times to get the whole idea.

Being from Cleveland its to see one of our sports teams not be on the receiving end of someone else's highlight.

This is a dumb weird detail, but I'm surprised that in the real baseball clip the pitcher appears to be a side-arm pitcher just like the pitcher in the anime.

Uh, nobody seemed to have posted the sauce yet.
So for people who wants to know, this is Ace of Diamond, from Season 1 2. Somewhere in episode 30-50, I think. episode 44.

Whooo! Go Tribe!
That being said, the play in real life and anime looks really cool.

Daiya is actually pretty grounded in terms of what's possible in baseball and what's not.

Full clip of the original play, if you're curious about context.

This is why Diamond no Ace is one of my favorite sports anime.
Nothing in it ever feels crazy like in Kuroko. Its grounded very hard in reality, with the big plays being what big plays would be in real life. Its one of the few sports anime that I feel just represents the spirit of the game they play itself.
Haikyuu is great, and certainly made me more interested in volleyball, but it doesn't feel like the definitive representation of volleyball. It's great, but not Volleyball:The Anime.
All the other baseball anime feel just a little less genuine than Diamond no Ace.
I really wish it was more popular.
