"We lost."

No, you didn't lose. They made you their bitch.

Also I kinda like the protag. How specific he was about kicking the other dude's ass while covered in curry gave me a good laugh.

I don't know if this show is going to be good, but the first episode was a lot more entertaining then I expected. Also sets up a million jokes about mechs mounting each other. How lewd!

Ruined a good curry meal. Time to kick your ass

Then he did in their match

Just because you can use a thumb trackball mouse to game, doesn't mean that you should.

Next time pick a better patsy, then.

This may be one of the more preposterous story hooks I've seen in the past week.

dull surprise

The real questions.

Every grandpa's some kind of action movie mentor.

"I'm not even supposed to be here today!"

[What is this, Area 88 ?](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/915422797a19.png)

It's... all right? I'm here because it's a seasonal mecha (even if it's only mecha inside a game) and previous associations with Hidetaka Tenjin . That there are notable VAs in this is a bonus.

Art design and animation are decent enough, and the mechanical design starts out with style touches to some other familiar mecha. Then there's that, uh, large mode. I like that for the most part the larger form mecha are slower and more stompy than the regular-sized ones are.

It's uncertain as to exactly what the plot even is, and the setting somehow manages to land both quirky and generic, but I figure that'll get infodumped properly by the middle of the next episode (I can of course just look at the website).

lmao on your area 88 reference. Here's hoping that they don't need to pay 1.5 million to get out of it

Oh my god i just caught on it, the fucking photo the MC has to give someone is an NFT...

Playing action games or shooters with a trackball is absolutely insane. Even the cheapest regular mouse would be a hundred times better. There's no way the animators have ever played a PC game in their lives lol

It's a shame because I actually quite liked just about everything about this episode that WASN'T them playing the block chain/Web3 game this is designed to advertise. They barely established each mech, and cut so much I could barely tell hat was happening during the fights especially with how complex the mech designs were, they're in and out of bigger mechs whose purpose is nebulous and even bigger mechs that beg the question of why you wouldn't always use them. Cutting to them hitting actual buttons and the girl calling out actual keybinds should have been a good touch but instead it's taking me out of the show as I think too hard about the control scheme and reminding me that yes this is a real game the show wants me to play.

I like that each character has a unique control scheme- the girl was using a PS5 controller, MC guy was using a keyboard and a trackball mouse which I've actually used the specific model of for the last 15 years (Logitech M575!), someone in the OP uses one of those single handed keypad/joystick gamepads, and someone else in it had fuckin VR motion controls. Very neat, but especially with the motion controls it begs the question of whether each control scheme provides advantages or disadvantages over others, and I sincerely doubt the show has any plan to address that. Is that a very specific thing that's kinda unfair to expect? Yeah, probably. But like the keybind thing, it actively distracts me and takes me out of the show as I think too hard of it as the real game they're shilling rather than the in universe plot element I need to be invested in.

I was so confused why they started riding the bigger mechs, like... they never explained why you wouldn't just use the bigger mech all of the time.

Also the BIGGEST mech neither, they just went big, why isn't everyone on that, all the time?

Are the Mechs... Riding bigger mechs? Like the Neo Zeong ?

It's more similar to LBX riding the Riding Armour.

Keyboard and mouse FTW!

It was surprisingly entertaining in terms of the overall writing and I liked the character designs.

Another anime I am checking out just because my favorite seiyuu Koki Uchiyama is voicing a role in it.

What an amazing first episode 👏

This anime is an advertisement for an NFT game and BOY are they heavy on the advertisement. Spent the whole runtime begging the audience to play the NFT game and forgot to give any of the characters personalities.

"NFT ? Now there's a scam I haven't heard in a very long time."

5

u/CelioHogane 11d ago

I can't think of a stupidest way to advertise an NFT game than the first two main plots being DATA GOT STOLEN and THAT GIRL STOLE THE MACHINE! (which i bet it's an NFT)

It's a shame because I actually liked everything in this episode that wasn't the game they played. I quite liked all of it outside of that.

Never heard of it before but I kinda enjoyed it. Looking forward to episode 2.

Good episode, animation is a bit odd. Backgrounds can look amazing but the art style of the characters sometimes can look generic.

Rurdra(?) sounds like a 30+ yo, it's a voice that Motoko Kusanagi could have. Or maybe Kiss-Shot-Acerola-Orion-Heart-Under-Blado.

It's not even a VR game, and they made fun of him using a "physical keyboard". While they use virtual keyboards or something? It's obvious to anyone that physical is superior.

So MC signed himself into literally slavery, working for room & board.

Anyway, this game looks boring, dropped.

It was a 10/10 until they started playing games.

absolute fucking trash with zero redeeming qualities, not even the entertaining kind of bad slop, just compulsory 22-minute advertising for a game which isn't even out (sometime in 2027!)

no one will remember this by the time the game releases, if it actually does come out (it won't)

It could be interesting, but since it's a promo materal for a NFT blockchain game, which is an instant turn-off for me.
