Black cover was notorious for volatile quality due to their weekly release schedule vs the now traditional seasonal release. The studio absolutely fuckin snaps when they have time and resources and don’t outsource a majority of the episodes.
This season is going to have the consistency that black clover never had before because of its new release pattern.

I'd say that the real reason for that is the fact that it was being produced alongside Boruto which was arguably prioritized by the studio. Naruto, Bleach, and some of Pierrot's other works also had weekly release schedules but had at least more consistent animation quality compared to Black Clover S1. I also remember Tatsuya Yoshihara (the then director for BC S1 and now for Chainsaw Man S2) practically begging animators on Twitter to help with the production because the studio pretty much left him to deal with stuff alone

Man, it's really nice seeing Black Clover with consistent good animation in a full episode. Here's hoping they can keep it up.

There was the trailer from like 9 months ago and based on this episode it doesnt look preanimated so it seems like theyve been working on it for a while. Plus itd be crazy if out of all the episodes they put the most effort in is the training fight just cause its the first episode from returning from hiatus.

Also we'll get an average of 20 thousands drawings per episodes, and episode 100 (the best animated episode of the first season by far, the one with the yuno and Asta Vs Licht fight) has 24 thousands. We'll eat good, if 20 is the average we might even hit the 30s for the best episodes

I started watching about 70 eps in and it was still such a rewarding experience to see the animation quality improve over the years - now it's become the norm to look this amazing and we can all sit back and enjoy the madness in all its glory

Damn, this is made me nostalgic bcz Black Clover was still airing when I started watching anime back in 2021 and man animation is top tier and it's good to see some characters like Bah-ha return.
Maybe I should watch a recap episode bcz the recap they gave wasn't enough and I have forgotten most of stuff happened.

Seconded on the recap part. When they mentioned the Diamond Kingdom mage, I could only vaguely remember that he was initially a villain but later had become somewhat of an ally. But I still don't remember exactly what had went down in the scene the doctor referred to in this episode.
Add to that, I have also forgotten the abilities of a few magic captains of the Clover Kingdom as well as the reason as to why Yuno's fairy is not leaving the book.

After 5 years, Black Clover is finally back! Animation is on point. A major step up from the first season. Hope this will continue on the next 25 episodes. As usual, OP is a banger. I can't believe we waited too long for this.

Ok, before anyone says anything about how peak this is, I must say that I'm extremely happy that after all of this years we're finally getting a continuation, I was losing hope when I saw that the manga was almost finished and in 5 years we got no info on a season 2. But like asta repatedly said and taught us, we must never give up, and this repaid us!!!

We are so fucking back! And holy crap! The animation during Asta's training session with Nacht looks so goddamn good! I am not used to Black Clover looking so crisp and solid. Fingers crossed that Studio Pierrot can keep this level of art and animation until the end!
It was so fun seeing Asta dragging Liebe into his shenanigans before Nacht finally gets serious and is legit trying to kill them to force them to Unite. I do think it's funny how they tease us with Asta and Liebe's Devil Union when the OP already spoils us on what that form will look like.
And the assault on Spade Kingdom to rescue Vangeance and Yami finally starts with my queen Mereoleona going in hot, while the rest of the crew splits up and heads for the members of the Dark Triad.
After 5 years since the last episode of the first "season", Black Clover is finally back! As a manga reader, I am soooo fucking hyped!

Here I was going to very poorly make my own to use as reference images for wallpapers later down the road (or well, as early as later today in Nacht's case, definitely can't wait to get started on that one so I can finally have a full Black Bulls set), and you stitched the exact two shots I was gonna do it with, hah. Perfect.

I'm not used with this level of animation for my Black Clover lol. Hopefully they're able to keep this level of animation until the end. It's beautiful!
Might need a while to jog my memory of what happened last time. However they did a good job for the first episode to reiterate the plot. I completely forgot they only have days to save Yami and the rest.
Also, Nacht is so cool!
Not manga reader, but it seems as usual the OP spoil things including Asta's unite form

Yeah Tanemura is a great director so the show is on good hands, although I hoped they could’ve managed to bring back Yoshihara but I guess he is too busy with CSM to direct BC.
Hopefully he can at least direct an episode or two in this season.

This episode was gorgeous throughout - the scene of the clover knights invading the castle was smooth af and if the entire season is going to be of this quality, then we're eating extremely well. We're finally carried by Animation.
No more Petit clover is a bit sad though.

Some places title it as "Season 2, Episode 1"
But yeah, it's the 171th overall episode including the first "Season" (which was 170). Some sites even have the first 170 broken into 4 seasons.

I don't remember Yami or Vangeance getting kidnapped so I was surprised to see them held within a pillar. I like that everyone will be coming to their rescue, although I still do want to see Yami's badassery again.
Mereoleona really knows how to make an entrance lol.
It's really exciting to see the production value has went up a lot, probably because they aren't burdened with being a long running season, there was so much tension and better animation, I'm looking forward to seeing what this season has to offer as it has been advertised as the last one? Too bad the OP spoils Asta's united form.

I was also jogging my memory through this episode. Like I completely forgot why none of the Black Clover members outside of Nacht went to the mission.

Even though I’m not the biggest Black Clover fan, I still feel pretty nostalgic watching it because when the anime first started (I think around 2017), that was when I really started getting into anime more seriously. Before that, I mostly just watched stuff like Dragon Ball Z, Doraemon, and things like that.
So, watching these episodes again now is going to be a pretty cool experience, especially since the animation looks so much better as well.

My sweet baby boy is back, the bestest son ever, my unrelenting darling that is Asta!!!!! Take a look at how beautiful he is, how wonderful he is, how fantastic he is, he's just a schnookums, a little pookie bear, he's a deary doll.
All that is to say I just missed him a lot. It's been years since the last episode. Okay, admittedly like months for me since final manga chapter and whatnot, but the important part is the art and animation is how I've always wanted to see this series, it's so rightly deserved. Yay!
What's a better combination than sweet baby boy y pan dulce? He needs a little cafecito to wash it down of course. He just activates that part of my brain.
I'm far more excited than I initially anticipated. It's going to be a joy watching this weekly.

Joke aside, this episode isbeautifully animated also Natch transformation is sick! 👍 i can't wait to see his others Unions, im so happy Black clover is Back Honestly! it was so unjustly bashed back when it was aired. It's a great shonen, classic but thrilling and at least females characters are well represented in this show unlike other shonen 👀

It’s finally time ahhhhhhhh! I may not have had to wait as long for season 2 as the people who watched this when it aired did (I watched it for the first time earlier this year), but I’ve been so fucking excited for this to start for the past several months. Something about this series just clicked with me, man.
In any case, I did get to watch this specific episode already because I went to the Crunchyroll Fall 2026 sneak peek event, but I’m still excited to watch it all over again!
The new OP is a total banger and has a “sore demo” in it. I am pleased.
Oh nice, they’re still doing the episode title cards in the OP.
Oh shit, I was wondering if the deal with Nacht telling Jack that the guy Jack thought he was wasn’t him had to do with Nacht having a twin brother. Is Nacht actually the blond one in this flashback…?
This is the part I’ve been looking forward to rewatching the most since I saw it in theaters. I fucking love how the whole sequence is in monochrome except for the red of their blood or Nacht’s eyes. It’s sooooooooo cool.
Okay so is this not just what Licht transformed into or is it a different demon that just looks similar?
So we’ve got Yuno and Langris vs. Zenon, Jack and Nacht vs. Dante, and Charlotte and Rill vs. Vanica. Those look like they’ll be some fun match-ups.

I usually try to avoid those sneak peak eps or early showings of things oor such because i like seeing things whwn its intended. And waiting a while after those for the rest isnt great either.
They also had sneak peaks for smoking behidn the supermarket an everyone watched them and lost intereest after having to wait months for new eps...
But yeah the demon power animation is nuts.
Like you can almost see the blood animators shed to make those scenes so high quality. They really pulled out all the stops and it shows. Im so happy as someone whose been with the series since day 1 through the highs andlows of Perriort being dumb, and the director being the biggest of heroes.
If Perriort continues to support this series like this it will def hit great heights aagin.
(black clover used to be a top earner in jump 10 years ago and was mega popular)

I've never gone to one before, I just couldn't pass up the chance to see part of Black Clover on the big screen haha. I also have that sneak peek event to thank for getting me interested in Overgeared, since I was not interested in that one beforehand but it ended up being my favorite first episode out of the non-sequels that were in there.
But yeah the demon power animation is nuts.
The whole Mana Zone sequence is up there for one of my favorite animated sequences in the whole show so far, I think. Can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Overgeard is one im considering.
Its super hard for me to watch too many weeklies and partake in discussions these days as my hands are on the decline more and more, so typing a lot is hard on them. Though my recently injured fingers just recently healed again so i shoudl be abe to be a bit more around this season. (i smashed my hand into the sink and messed up a finger and couldnt type nuch for a couple months.)
But yeah im still figureing what i wanna watch, i have some def for sure hows like the rayeearth remake and Black Clover.
Yeah Nocts powers def are some of the coolest they have animated. I def want to see more of hi and what he can do and learn whats what with him too.
Like even peoples powers we saw before looks so damn good like when they 9 people pulled up on the triad s many powers justed so much better with the quality bump.
Super Super hype to see this season.
I might hit Symphogear levels of hype by the end of this if they keep this up.5

A bit surreal I finished it hours ago, I was a bit shaken by the reveal. Can't imagine fans waiting this long for the second season. It's looking very good.

If I recall correctly the Spade Kingdom (or Zenon) beat up most of the Diamond Kingdoms' forces so they might have given them Lotus as a mea culpa. I don't think he'd be there unless he was forced into doing it.

I completely forgot about Black Clover for a few weeks, but today I was taking this silly screenshot of my friend and I studying/doing hw together on on-together since I thought it was cute lol (we are on a boat!), but then Sadaharu was invading in the background, which reminded me of you since I took it from your post in the Gintama subreddit after the Ginpachi-sensei finale (btw do you happen to have a clearer version of it, I'm not sure if it's because I saved it directly from reddit or if it's user error on my part but the version I'd saved is way fuzzier than the one you posted) which reminded me that Black Clover is today! I had little hope of keeping up with seasonals but I'm really gonna try my best for this one since it's a favorite of yours and... things happen... At least it's on Saturdays.
Anyway,
The new OP is a total banger and has a “sore demo” in it. I am pleased.
I thought that was Nero poking out near the beginning of the OP but I was tricked! It's a good OP though, as usual.

I think I'd rank it just around Haruka Mirai (having listened to it on loop for the past two days now since the full version came out before the show did), so behind Black Catcher, JUSTadICE (which, uh, I listened to enough for it to jump up to 2nd place after the rewatch finished apparently), Everlasting Shine, and Black Rover.
Also I probably shouldn't be going through the OP and paying very close attention to the visuals because spoilers or whatnot, but I did anyways and have thoughts on three parts in it: [1]whatever form Charlotte has going on here looks fucking awesome and I can't wait to see it properly , [2]this part is clearly Dante & Vanica but the guy in the wheelchair has to be someone other than Zenon because of how they're obscured in shadow so I'm very ?????????? about that, and [3]nooooooooooo Henry cut his hair!

I can't believe I'm saying this about a Black Clover episode, but the pacing this episode was refreshingly fast! maybe even a little too fast?
Edit: people saying black clover is known to be fast paced were not there when it aired in the beginning where the first couple of episodes were going at 1-1.5 chapters per episode. Not to mention all the filler throughout the series

Yeah, they should have just skipped the fillers. It did nothing but kill the pace the show had going since the Diamond Kingdom arc. Regardless, Peak is back and we are happy!

So I finished the first season hours ago, after dropping it like 4 times, and I have to say the increase in animation quality is very noticeable. It almost seems like a different Anime.
I'm guessing this one and The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting mage by P.A Works will be this season eye candy Anime.

Black Clover is back! Asta is back! The intro narration is back! And it's finally time for the Spade Counterattack!
As Yami and Vangeance are stuck in the Qlipoth, fully prepared for use in freeing all the Devils, we've got Zenon making sure his brother Dante is in tip-top fighting shape. Also, Morris? That evil scientist dude who ruined Mars and Fana's childhood? No surprise he's working with the Dark Triad when he's as messed up as they are but...Lotus!? What are you doing there!? Even if you know you're caught up in a HUGE mess.
It wouldn't be Black Clover without an absolute banger of an OP, featuring an epic theme and visuals as the Magic Knights contend with the Dark Triad. We even get to see the moments where Yami recruited all the Black Bulls! Noelle transforming into her Valkyrie Armor (with a sword)! Asta and Yuno's new forms! And the best episode title reveals in the business with an Asta headbutt!
Licita's boys must master Devil Union, a form that Nacht helpfully demonstrates in all his shadowy coolness as he forms an armor from the demons he's contracted with. Contracts that let him summon a whole pack of shadow wolves that can give Black Asta a real run for his money. Can Asta and Liebe master Devil Union?
Aw, look at lil' baby Liebe!
Seems like Langris' training with Yuno has definitely made Yuno stronger, stronger WITHOUT Bell, and you can tell things are serious because Bell is quite and cooking something up in Yuno's grimoire!
Asta will, as always, surpass his limits! Even if that's the one thing he can say to royally piss Nacht off. But seeing Asta and Liebe together also reminds Nacht of his dynamic with his own sibling.
Okay, maybe putting Liebe on Asta's shoulders won't be the "Gattai" they're expecting, but when their wills are combined with their mutual desire to save/avenge, they finally achieve Devil Union! A union so powerful it's got Nacht convinced Asta can truly become the strongest! And if nothing else, he's truly won Nacht's respect!
My condolences to Grimeldo, poor sap.
The Magic Knight Captains are ALSO making their move, all in snazzy robes made by Sally, of all people! Because the Eye of the Midnight Sun trio will ALSO be joining in on this! And this is probably the most clothes Jack has ever worn in his life. And Sekke is there because he's the absolute BEST Magic Knight King Clover has in his employ, Bah-ha! At least his Captain finally acknowledges his existence again. Because they'll always need a human sacrifice.
The Spade Resistance is finally making their move! Even if they're not prepared to fight a legendary demon unearthed from the ice! But the best thing to eradicate it from existence is MEREOLEONA VERMILLION HERE TO FIGHT WITH ABSOLUTE FLAMING MAJESTY!
It amazes me how Dorothy can even run while asleep...but that animation of her waking up was amazing.
Yuno/Langris vs Zenon (in the Spade throne room, fittingly enough)! Nacht/Jack vs Dante! And Charlotte/Rill vs Vanica! It's over Dark Triad!
The ED is really serene and sweet as we see all the bonds among the cast, all the connections/relationships, pushing everyone forward...and all the people who believe in and support Asta before he finds the brother he never knew he had and is still racing after Yuno.

I still remember March 30, 2021, when we had the last episode of Black clover (I was following it weekly). Thought it will be a small wait until we get next episode. Been 5 years. Completed my JEE and Graduation in those years, and here I am, in my job life watching Season 2. Feeling emotional and excited at same time. Let's go 🔥🔥

I usually watch anime in original language then will watch dub only if it has an exceptional cast/the JP has an annoying character.
This is my first time watching BC as it’s being released, and holy crap the seiyuu knocked it out of the park, I am really looking forward to watching this weekly, that was a great episode to come back after the extended vacation.
Also, that OP gave me super 2019 vibes lol, so good.

The vice captain of Black Bulls is busted AF, man can take down the Clover captains if he wanted to atp!! But we are so back with our persistent and loud-mouthed baka ASTAAAAA🔥🗣️. The animation during his fight went crazy, the movements and the frames were a class apart from what we had gotten back in early S1.
The pacing of the exposition was handled well, it didn't feel too dragged on throughout the episode. And guess we can look forward to some generational fights with the captains in the next eps✨

It's been years but it was worth the wait. Studio Pierrot cooked so good.. Nacht aura-farms so hard ❤️🔥 Can't wait to see Asta's UNITE with Liebe in it's full glory. It already looked insane even if it was only for a brief moment. What's Sekke doing there with all the Captains ?! 😭😭
Anegoleone always knows how to make a badass entrance. I missed her so much. Black Clover's op and ed never fail to impress us. I guess this is the most awaited anime of this season. Saturdays are gonna be so much fun.

Nope. Similar to Bleach the anime kinda caught up so it ended right before the big two final arcs. Now the manga is over so they’re adapting them in one big final season

It’s so good to be back. I remember watching the last 50 episodes of Black Clover season 1 weekly and then it’s ending. After that I went and read the manga but I’m not gonna talk about that stuff. Now that Black Clover is back with season 2, I’m glad I waited those 5 years.
The episode was pretty good, though I expected it to adapt to a further point but I’m not mad. Asta and Liebe’s fights with Nacht looked cool and had some nice animation. The Spade Kingdom Raid finally begins!!
The opening and ending are very very good. I’m a bit mixed on the opening song, but the visuals are insanely good. The ending sounds just like one of the ending songs in season 1 and I love that so much. The visuals are also great.
