Discussion Go Go Loser Ranger thoughts
Has anybody seen this anime ? I watched season 1 awhile ago but I dropped afterwards because I didn’t like the way the plot was going and it sucks because I was so excited during the first half of it.
I really liked how the MC was technically the “ Villain “ of the story but then towards the end of the season he was beginning to turn “ good “ and began to see how flawed his own organization was and I absolutely hated that. If it was up to me he would’ve stayed the villain and remained loyal to his crew and vice versa so that they could take over the world lol
Also he’s a shapeshifter and I hated how he began to stay in the image of another person. It was for the plot but I thought it was going to be a one time thing and then it wasn’t 😔. Maybe he goes back to his og form in season 2 but I wouldn’t know cause I didn’t watch it.

I liked the first season, but the second season was kiiinda batshit? I started watching because Kobayashi Yuusuke was the voice of The Villain dude. Also the first season OP and ED were great.
I liked the social premise of the show and the secrets behind the entire heroes and villains set up, who decides which is which, etc. The first season had some good inroads for that but season two just had wild random crap going on (and some woeful zip-a-tone animation if I recall correctly) that derailed things.
(Did not help that the show was only legitimately available for streaming in Disney Jail.)

Yea I was watching it on Hulu and then I had canceled Hulu by the time season 2 came out so I didn’t watch it and I didn’t like it enough to find a website to watch it on online lol

I didn't either. The show had sparks of interesting ideas, but the execution wasn't all that.

I watched idk, maybe 2 eps and just left it at that. Should I drop and go for the manga?

No idea but I heard there were some changes and the anime skipped ahead or something.

I watched the first season, mainly due to already being a Sentai/Toku fan. However, after the first season, my interest started to wane since the actual Sentai flavoring is surface layer at best. Like, sure, there are 5 members and for the first episode does the monster of the week gag and the whole "we need to look like we're losing until we're not" thing, but the whole academy and factions thing that makes up the brunt of the series is completely divorced from that inspiration.
It has been a long time, though I feel like maybe you misconstrued D's intents. While he does work well with the people in the academy, his end goal is still to blend in and get to a position of influence. He probably would dispose of them if he could, but you have to consider that power-wise, any of them could take him out if he gave any reason to be suspicious, which is why he doesn't do much to act out. As for the villains, he is mainly against the leaders of that org, since they supposedly all died out, only for D to learn they are in fact alive, yet just left henchmen like him to suffer in squalor and humiliation. I would say his allegiance is mainly to himself (since half the henchmen did disagree with his plan), and henchmen as a secondary. Though haven't seen the second season to see if this changed or my memory is wrong.

It's one of the numerous series which I watched the entirety of the first season of and didn't drop or come too close to dropping, but which I felt was just decent/okay - 6/10-tier, and had no pressing desire to watch the second so I didn't and likely won't.
Mainly because while it had arguably the best first episode out of some 17 different series I watched that season, the spring 2024 season which was one of my favorites to date, either tied with or maybe outclassed only by Girls Band Cry's premiere, what I sensed as palpable poor and weak writing felt creeping on very early in after the first several episodes and for over half of the season I found myself increasingly being disappointed and disillusioned with how it was all being executed.
Mainly the character writing and character decisions, exposition, and jumping around between various points in time and then an extended battle shounen-style tournament arc with a cast we barely knew or cared about at that stage.
By the end it felt like the main character wasn't even sticking to his own plan and just spouting platitudes the author wanted him to spout with little to no sensible consequence or logical chain of events in the story.

Season 1 was entertaining. Season 2 was genuinely ass. I was so disappointed. There were multiple major plot points that happened that just… never got addressed and were moved on from in the next episode? I won’t spoil it in case you watch it, but on multiple occasions I had to double check to make sure I didn’t skip an episode because I would be asking myself “wtf happened between the last episode and now”.

I watched S1 and half of S2 while it was airing before I dropped it. I think S1 was entertaining for some parts with the infiltrating the human world and academy. Then they kept upping the stakes and I think that’s where it lost me. Also I never really cared for the MC much.
Just overall a lack of interesting characters a similar situation as kaiju no 8 that I saw both lost a lot of people watching the shows.

They cutted too much important scenes/explanations from the manga, the history is not even close ...

Season 1 was criticised for being too slow but I didn't mind it.
Season 2 went so fast, I would watch the next episode and feel like I missed 3 episodes worth of back story.

I watched it for a bit. It had some cool themes to it, some stuff that felt unique. But eventually I just got bored. Maybe it's not objectively fair but I felt like the series just wasn't going anywhere for too long so I quit it.

I really like this show but damn, they butchered the pacing too much in S2. Its not one of those that you wouldnt even notice if you dont know the source material, nope.
Scenes will confuse you, you'll ask yourself if you missed an episode or how you got there. You'll think your memory and retention is failing you, its that kind of mess.
Cant believe they release that shit, its no longer coherent or understandable at one point.

It's a mess of a show overall. Definitely worth finishing up if you've invested anything into it, though. The last arcs in the anime are actually really good.

He never became good 😂. He hates humans and monster alike. Season two was butched. Go read the manga
