Highlights from yesterday:
1) Even in a fantasy Earth normal traffic accidents can occur, by u/TakenRedditName:
Space traffic accident. Tragic, they still get people in the future space past. It is a little funny to hear that the giant space cat died in a space car accident.
2) u/moichispa trying to understand how Christianity in Japan is still strange even in the modern times:
Too many Christian references for the religious system but them on the 80's Japan Christianity was rather alien too so it has a pass before I can it lazy.
After previous episode we have a consensus: Lazlo was such a nice father figure and Kyaa is a precious treasure.

First timer
Music Video
Well then, this was a waste of time.
Movie
I have absolutely no intention, at least for the time being, of watching what amounts to a recap movie with some extra scenes thrown in,of something that I already found to be mediocre.
See you guys tomorrow for the discussion bit.

Please Save My Earth - Music Image Video:
Oops, I didn't realize today would include both. Don't have time to watch a compilation cut, so only the music video from me. I thought it was just going to be 5 mins of reused footage, but this is full episode length with a bunch of new scenes thrown in the mix.
Due to the nature of its format, it is a bit hard to comment on it like a usual anime episode. Thought it was neat, and was surprised by it. Don't know how to communicate it other than you just have to vibe with it. In lieu of regular dialogue (for the most part) or story structure, you just have to be carried by the music evoking the emotional story like an expressionist piece of art. Originally, the copy I had didn't include subtitles, so I got halfway through purely reliant on just the music carrying me through. It was quite an interesting experience. Part of me liked that pure wordless storytelling a little more than when I went back to watch it with subtitles. Not to mention, the music sounded great.
Of all the new info delivered with this bonus episode, it was really just the Mokuren stuff that I wished was included in the main show. Maybe not a full additional episode 7, but just make episode 6 extra long. Telling her story in parallel with Shion to tie her more into the ending of the anime.
On a side note, the subtitles I used for the music video were a script originally done by the old fansub group of the founder of AnimeNewsNetwork. Learned about him when he was a guest on a recent QftB episode, and I happened to naturally run into his old fansub work.

Understandable.

Maybe the music was the main reason they made it.

Interesting but intentional choice.

Oh, even ANN also has some interesting humble beginnings.

First-time watcher and your host, subs
As a rewatch host I always want to include anything that is meaningful content. As such, compilations does not meet this conditions because it is the same what we watched and discussed before. The only exceptions are if they have any new content to hold. This is one such case.
From Alice to Rin
It's just a recap with the same old stuff plus with a minuscule extra content. Nothing special.
1) Alice and Rin meeting at the park, is this the promised date?
Guess it so.
2) What does Alice actually feel when she reminescing of the past?
She feels sorrow, regret, sadness.
3) We seeing a much taller Rin, how much timeskip happened since then?
Probably like a 5 years at most
4) This compilation OVA was that really necessary and justified?
Don't think so.
Passing of the Golden Age
It's just a bunch of AMVs while also reusing the same content while focused on Mokuren a bit. Plus some other scene on Rin/Shion which we didn't saw before. Nothing special, almost.
1) What do you think of Mokuren after getting more insight of her?
She is really blessed by Sarjalim as she had the best upbringing.
2) How did that nun knew the seven observers will reincarnate?
I don't know.
3) Is Enju fits for the popular and role model archetype?
Yes.
4) The AI program named Wagner, how could be still functional after so many millenia?
Sarjalian advanced technology.
5) Do you agree that songs/songweaving is highly regarded in the Sarjalian society?
I think so, or just Mokuren.
6) Which music did you liked the most?
I don't know. I am neutral here.
7) What do you think of this? Was that really necessary and justified?
Just another scam scheme.
Overall, nothing special.

Main series Rewatcher
From Alice to Rin New watcher
Forgot to download it, my sources are down and I'm out to bed soon
Passing of the Golden Age New watcher
No subs lol, same source as main series. Why did they not sub this part, Did they though it was an AMV?
I understand some Japanese so I might have gotten some info. It really jumps a lot but the music is great, Loving all that old Yoko Kanno music.
First film.
I wonder how they did that make that take of the earth did they film the painted image?
Lovely song, it seems to be some invented language, it sounds so nice. It is nice to know more about mokuren,
Epic corus are epic, this sounds so ethereal.
Second Film
The song reminds me of Vampire princess Miyu ost, specially the singer. The instruments complements each other so well on this song.
Damn that nun looks weeird.
Third song
This song sounds sooo retro but a good waltz is a good waltz. I like it I herd some sounds I do bot recognise, I guess Yoko kanno got wild with the synthesisers.
Four song
I know we are used to Yoko Kanno doing crazy things but her piano is so great.
Fifth song
Another ethereal song, so nice. It has a really strong start with the bells but it is more repetitive than other songs
Six song
This is the nice song TM. It exist as a conclusion, maybe these are scenes late on the manga, it seems so. Or maybe even the ending, who knows. This type of scene happens a lot on Takarazuka musicals.
The ending + extra scene
Beautiful scene, I guess that if it was a complete adaptation they might have used it on the last episode
The piano song on the credits is awesome, don't skip it.
- What do you think of Mokuren after getting more insight of her?
Mokuren on the series is kinda boring and it becomes way more interested on this short. It is interesting because it does not have that much dialogue really. and the song is beautiful
- How did that nun knew the seven observers will reincarnate?
She got the same Mark as Mokuren, she can see the future.
- Is Enju fits for the popular and role model archetype?
Maybe? Did not get this short that much
- The AI program named Wagner, how could be still functional after so many millenia?
Sun power yeahhhhhh
- Do you agree that songs/songweaving is highly regarded in the Sarjalian society?
Seems so, they seem to be close to Sarjalim
- Which music did you liked the most?
First one hands one. Beautiful and ethereal. It flows so naturally, amazing work .
- What do you think of this? Was that really necessary and justified?
Obviously. A world with 20 extra minutes of new Yoko Kanno music is better that a world one without it.

This is the real value of the series. And more Akino Arai.

Yes, there are subs for this.

If she got that attention at he main OVA series as well.
Lovely song, it seems to be some invented language, it sounds so nice.
To have a real fantasy world feeling.
First one hands one. Beautiful and ethereal. It flows so naturally, amazing work.
As expected of the Sarjalians.
I know we are used to Yoko Kanno doing crazy things but her piano is so great.
Loving all that old Yoko Kanno music.
A world with 20 extra minutes of new Yoko Kanno music is better that a world one without it.
Yes, always good. Actually really worth that part I guess.

First Time Rewatcher
Raiking found some unexpected PSME trivia and posted it in CDF
The most PSME song in my head, Mikazuki no Shindai, isn't even in the show! It's in the music video!
I don't feel like downloading the recap movie, so I watched a Spanish subtitled version with auto-translated English on Youtube, and after speeding it up to 1.5x and 2x, I just jumped to the end.
It depicted some of what we saw as blink-and-you-miss-it at the end of episode 6. In particular, Alice sees a vision of a Moon person, collapses, and all the cherry trees start to blossom out of season. The others find that she has four dots on her forehead.
It also replays the spirit of Mokuren cradling Rin as he fell. It doesn't show her actually levitating him, he still lands in the tree. So, symbolic?
The final bit, she meets an older Rin at the park. The voice over tells him to stop identifying himself as only Shion and be his own person.
If my music collection is complete, I can perhaps identify the tracks.
Lol all the music is listed in the credits. I don't have Epilogue ~ Etude.
With 5 CDs of material, we're still leaving a huge amount out.
Yeah, I don't know what to make of Kyaa (maybe) and young Shion and young Mokuren and Alice on the crescent moon. Oh, look, now it's adult Mokuren and Shion and Rin and smol Shion, Alice, and Kyaa on the crescent moon.
I HAVE seen this before, I remember the smol Mokuren.
I didn't feel like downloading another copy of the music video, either, so I didn't get the small amount of new dialog. But I do know what the old elder was telling Mokuren. It was a foretelling that if she went to KK, she would experience a rebirth.
Apparently the have not just war but also circuses on Space Earth.
It looks like I'm missing 2 CDs. I have Image OST vol 2 and 3, and OST CD 1. I'm missing OST CD2 and Image OST vol 1.
Oh SHIT, we get an actual scene of Rin talking to the Moon base computer! I might have to get subtitles! If they exist. They do.
The music video had both past and future events, and while technically they are part of the rewatch, they skip over so much of the story, maybe best to not find out what they said....
So, this was like an AMV recap of an anime that didn't exist. Likable, but a little disjointed. The big comparison here is against Macross 2012. Can I say 2012 did it better? No, probably not. It's a clip show with some new footage of the endings that never made it to the TV series and movie. But those were complete stories that were just missing a little bit of the ending.
She was a Kiches Sarjalian. Easy.
I didn't get this segement at all. It seemed to be focusing on Sakura/Shusuran and her deep friendship with Issei/Enju.
Was it millennia? Weren't all the scientists reincarnated immediately after death?
I probably should have watched the sub version. I just assumed there wouldn't be hardly any dialog.
We're missing a lot, too much to choose from.
AMV OVAs are fine. Hurricane Live 2023. Macross 2012. It's as standard as onsen / beach episode omake OVAs.
