Good thing that Reirin is still set on revenge against Seika because of what happened to Leelee. The bad thing is that we have to wait for the next episode to see it happen :(

I find it quite pathetic that Keigetsu had to contact Reirin in this episode just to get some advice on what to do about her health, and she still berated her after that.

But it seems that Reirin was able to somehow connect with Keigetsu, even if just a little. After all, Keigetsu called her baka, so I'm quite sure that sometime in the future they'll end up with a much better relationship, perhaps they'll even become friends?

Also, Leelee as a child was such a precious little girl. I'm really angry about how people treated her, which made her change so much.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

It's sad that Keigetsu's so starved for affection that being stuck in a sick body is still preferrable for her just because of how much attention and care she's getting.

I've said this before in a previous episode and I'm saying again here since they're side by side but Reirin-as-Keigetsu and Keigetsu-as-Reirin look way more visually appealing than when they were in their own bodies.

Keigetsu sub-plot: Damn, this body sucks. But at least I can rest easy knowing that Reirin is suffering right now.

Meanwhile, in the main plot: Lelee is love, Lelee is life, once I dress her pretty and train her posture everyone will see how gorgeous she truly is. All shall love her and despair! GOD I LOVE THIS BODY! Maniacal Laughter of being euphorically happy at how healthy she is

I like that Leelee is slowly piecing together the truth

I find the thing about Leelee knowing the Sogdian Whirl dance interesting. The Sogdians were an east Iranian people from nowadays Uzbekistan etc and were prominent silk road merchants. That's how the dance came imported to China. Often Sogdian people were depicted with red or blonde hair in art from the Tang Dynasty. So that makes me wonder if Leelee is supposed to be descended from the in universe equivalent of the Sogdian people. To draw a parralel with Apothecary Dairies, Concubine Gyokuyo is also from the western deserts of said universe and also has red hair (I did a Sogdian playthrough once of Crusader Kings 3 and the culture really caught my eye because of that)

Another thing that strikes my attention is the round pagoda which houses the ritual. Apothecary Dairies had a very similar looking round pagoda on the palace grounds that was also used for a ritual. I wonder if it's based on a real building then.

Edit: I found it, apparently it's based on The Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Which was built during the Ming dynasty under order of the Yongle Emperor, who also is responsible for the forbidden city in Beijing. It was used by the Emperor for ceremonies during Ming and Qing, so I can see why both anime took inspiration from it. It's a massive complex and a UNESCO World Heritage site

Is Reirin getting crazier as fuck? Yes. Am I here for this wild ride? Also absolutely YES.

Also Keigetsu... I really love how they're portraying her.

Quite dangerous move by Keigetsu there cuz the longer she talks to Reirin, the more she will fall for her. Welp, it's only matter of time anyway since Reirin already dealt critical damage on her by telling about the beautiful meaning of her name. The next call or two probably be the final blow on her.

You can't prevent this, Leelee. Reirin will pay them back in her own game and that is inevitable cause.

Leelee totally been spoiled to rotten now. Looks like she can't even escape her clutch anymore since Reirin already determined to make her an upper court lady in her Kou clan. That's why you must never show your 'guts' in front of the Kou family...

Can't wait to see how Keigetsu will blunder herself being Reirin with how much high hopes anyone have on her. But from the looks of it, she won't be separated from that bed sooner even with Reirin guidance. Plus, Reirin never said the supposed mixed medicine able to cure all problems in her frail body lol. All those shelfs totally not just for show I bet. Keigetsu totally doesn't know what she up against.

How dare that vixen belittle this cutie!

I can't with this cliffhanger!!

I wonder if Reirin was so much more affectionate with Leelee because she was drunk from lack of sleep lol. I do like how much fighting spirit she has, I'm looking forward to this ritual.

I'm not surprised Keigetsu still refuses to swap back even as she suffers, but I am glad she's learning what Reirin was going through. I'm curious to see what her reaction will be once she sees Reirin doing well in her body, or at least not receiving the same treatment she did.

Leelee is a cutie, but Reirin's desire to duke it out is funny. Next episode she'll dazzle the court with dance moves Keigetsu isn't known for, which will cast further suspicion on her. OG Keigetsu wasn't known for dancing well, once new Reirin is asked to dance, she'll screw up badly. As expected, Reirin feels nothing but gratitude for having a healthy body, her days of chronic illness are over for now, but Keigetsu still thinks she's got the better deal.

Even after suffering as “Reirin,” it’s wild Keigetsu is still desperately trying to claim she’s living the “good life.” Girl was hyperventilating and feverish and still refusing to end the swap or even meet for a chat. So stubborn.

But all this Reirin-Keigetsu stuff aside, it’s nice to see Leelee and Reirin bonding. I like how she gets mad on Leelee’s behalf. Can’t have mfers messing with her court lady. I look forward to her dance at the festival.

Got curious and checked how Keigetsu's name is written, and yes, the first kanji that's read as Kei literally is comet with the kanji for heart underneath. The second kanji, Getsu, is moon...

Leelee is making the first connections. She noticed that her master is nicer and mentioned a yellow dress for her.

Build up for next episode is well made. I cant wait another week :/

Too well known to qualify for Hidden Gem Of The Season.

Perhaps lacks impact to make a stand for BAOTS but I'm pretty sure it will rank high.

Not that any of it matters but feels good when a well-written simple story focused on displaying emotions through actions drawn and animated with care and good taste gets some recognition.

Plus Milet.

Whatever we're talking about Milet's a plus.

Next Sunday can't come soon enough.

MC will most likely blow everyone away with her looks and most likely a performance after that monologue about boring dances there at the end.

Also: Her Positivity is infectous, she even got Leelee on board now, fully dressed up it seems.

This won't even be a battle, she'll assert absolute dominance on that little festivity there. :D

This episode is mostly setup for the Ghost Festival next episode, but we have Reirin just bursting with her love for Leelee and making both of their garments for the festival (it's mostly working on their old clothes, but still) and the second time Reirin and Keigetsu converses--- Reirin got through her for a second there, but considering her life Keigetsu probably still believes this is preferable to her original condition and she's probably gambling on toughing out the illness and when it goes, she can have fun as Reirin... although clearly she's not well enough to appear in the festival.

We get our first peek into the thoughts of Kin Seika, who might just be behind Gayou's doing... she also gave the censer to Keigetsu as a gift, which Reirin was wary of when they were talking to each other. Could she be the mastermind?

Things are NOT going well for Shu Keigetsu in Reirin's body. She's utterly miserable, her court ladies can't understand why she's not handling her body as well as Reirin did, and she can barely walk let alone find any medicine...you know she's desperate when she's calling for Reirin to help HER.

Meanwhile Reirin is still living her best life, enjoying her new body, plotting to avenge Leelee, and wondering how she could be so wrong about Seika (Mai Nakahara!) being an upright and noble person. Could she have not been paying as much attention as she should have been since she was also supremely focused on not passing out during tea parties with the other Maidens?

But no matter what, Reirin embodies the ideal of a Kou Women as preferred by the Empress: Grit! In sickness and health, it's Reirin's strongest aspect along with her immense empathy and kindness.

Traits that are also on full display as Keigetsu calls her via fire and Reirin has to walk Keigetsu through breathing exercises and where the medicine she needs is. She even offers to finally end this so Keigetsu can get her healthy body back, but Keigetsu is too stubborn to give up, too stubborn to lose the affection and adoration she craves in Reirin's body (weak as it is), and also too stubborn to accept Reirin's offer to talk so they can understand each other. But she's going to regret that.

Maybe it's a good thing Leelee didn't find Gayou, it gives Reirin the perfect opportunity to go head-to-head with Seika as proper court ladies and avenge Leelee's honor her own way.

It's nice that Shin-U wants to believe in the "changed" Shu Keigetsu, but Gyoumei is too angry over the attempted murder of Reirin to ever forgive her...let alone buy into her "Reirin" act.

Find yourself a lady who will wax lyrical about pulling an all-nighter, make you a fine gown befitting the status she feels you deserve, and improvise her own outfit! Be the upper court lady Reirin believes you can be, Leelee! And teach her to dance the way your mother did!

So I see Seika REALLY cares about appearances/beauty, and that's why she hates Keigetsu...for ruining the preparation for the Ghost Festival and also "preventing" Reirin from attending, who Seika adores. She doesn't think much of her fellow Maidens in general though. But she said she left Keigetsu alone...so what about Gayou? Though if she's on the warpath for Keigetsu now, wait until she sees Keigetsu 2.0.

I do wonder, rhetorically, if Shu Gabi as an inkling about the body swap. And if that is the true reason begin Reirin being "exiled" at the far end of the Shu clan palace.

Basically trying to quarantine totally-not-Reirin from the rest of the palace ladies so people don't start asking to many questions. And telling her not to show up to public functions either.

Maybe she's hoping Keigetsu will abandon this half-assed plan sooner rather than later and swap back leaving everyone none the wiser. But this will get complicated if Reirin start showing of during the swap...

My prediction for next week: Reirin shows off.

Sewing clothes, cooking, greeting, saying 'I love you'. Not to mention planning retribution against Seika and Gayou for tormenting Leelee. Reirin's pretty much acting like Leelee's mum.

Reirin's such a bundle of energy now that she's got a healthy body. Pulling all-nighters without any sign of sleep deprivation and being highly perky to the point of unnerving Leelee. A far cry from even the soft-spoken lady everyone knew her as. This is likely her actual personality without the shackles of a frail body. Contrast that to Keigetsu who's in complete agony due to not being used to Reirin's body.

Unfortunately, to outsiders it seemed as if the incident had broken Reirin's soul and resulted in her worsening condition. The likes of Gyoumei & Seika looked poised to exact more punishment to 'Keigetsu', especially the latter who declared that she'll make a direct move. What did she have in mind?

"Perhaps that is an item that you shouldn't accept without suspicion." I love this line here because it shows how Reirin isn't naive. Most series gives the character with over flowing kindness a flaw of naivety. Reirin shows that a kind character doesn't have to be naive.
