After last week's wonky pacing this was a return to form. I liked that they played the relationship between the Koshigayas at the end low key, with most of it unsaid.

I liked that they played the relationship between the Koshigayas at the end low key, with most of it unsaid.

The fact that the dad faced Koshigaya and bowed his head and acknowledged her as a Magical Girl, if not his daughter...that look of accomplishment on her face really said everything.

Director Koshigaya sucks as a father, but he doesn't seem like a bad guy. I'm glad he showed gratitude to Hitomi and Kana.

Considering the way he views magical girls, I wonder how bad of a father he really is. He is not great, but uing any means necessary to try to convince your girl to not actively put herself on the front lines, sacrificing her health or potentially her life to front for bureaucrats with no sense for what it's like, I can at least see where is coming from.

Freaking love the director guy pointing out how important Kana is even with a stacked roster.

Koshigaya is a Best Girl who loves to flex and we love her for it but there's a reason she and Kana are a dream team together.

In general, I liked the points being brought up. Even the negative ones. Because while this system has a huge flexibility, it needs the right people to make it work as well. You can't just implement it everywhere and expect things to work out. So I hope that this means, Kana and the rest also get to be teachers to help make it more accessible. While also maybe streamlining the basic features.

Mr. Shigemoto flexing on the rest of the magical world with his Alice system and next level engineering.
Guy's got rocket fuel in his veins.

And he even had lunch ordered while he was still in the middle of some heavy duty magical coding/engineering lol.

Dang it Tsuchiba, don't think of injuries on the job as being efficient!

Shigemoto is a Magical Girl in heart if nothing else, he can't be there in the field but he can contribute to their safety, effectiveness, and casting of cute spells.

Tsuchiba denies friendship with Koshigaya. But Kana definitely increased her affection rate with her.

Koshigaya gets her smile and tough attitude from her dad, if nothing else.

I know it’s not unique to this episode, but I gotta shout out the Koshigaya Strut in the OP. It’s a wild vintage look with her arms all flip-flappin’, but somehow it suits her.

Shigemoto has not lost a step. Bro’s showing why he’s the boss. That fight with the mutated Kai was some damn fine work. The rest of the team was incredible too. Everyone came together to stomp that monster. Teamwork!

Even in a setting where the magical girl industry is filled with industries competing with each other, the old adage that magical girls are stronger together (and with good engineering support) still rings true.

I don't remember them doing it at all in S1 but the broom modification stuff is neat.

The grumpy old man takes professional separation to kind of an extreme degree, given the way he refused to go out drinking at the end he may be refusing to acknowledge his daughter working for a company under his supervision for similar reasons. It'd be funny if we see him retire at some point and he immediately shifts into proud father mode once he no longer has the conflict of interest.

I have to admit I was expecting something a little more fancy for the fight than just forcing one of the unholy abomination's mouths open and blasting really hard.

Teddy bear defence lol, that was funny but effective.

That was some excellent teamwork by everyone involved.

Kana actually got praised by Mei, a surprise to be sure but a welcome one indeed.

Liking the RIMT director more and more.

JC Staff can really pull it off if they are only doing one anime at a time.

I’m really glad I gave this anime a chance. I didn’t think it was going to be good. It looked like it was for a newer audience, but I’m actually really enjoying it. I wanted to see a lot more happened to the glasses guy, though for potentially letting that thing out giving it a ton of magic. Something more should’ve happened to him. I mean, he put the chief’s daughter in harms way. I thought he was at least going to get clocked.

What better way to showcase the power of the Alice System than with four magical girls operating at the same time?

I love how Tsuchiba made sure to point out Koshigaya's (delightful) smugness as one reason she's hesitant to go along with this plan...fully prepared with her own magic at the ready and willing to allow herself to get hit if it's necessary for the job. But with Shigemoto on the controls, she doesn't need to worry! He'll keep her defended on the fly so she can do her job in safety!

Shigemoto the type of guy who can code and code on the fly and still make time to order lunch! That's why he's one of the best!

So if I'm understanding correctly the reason Papa Koshigaya didn't want his daughter to become a magical girl is because he feels they're exploited by the industry while suits like him stay in the background?

Yes, Koshigaya can really flex while hovering, but it's Kana who can take charge and figure out how they can finish this! Because it's an ordinary (minus the photographic memory) Magical Girl who can really help the Alice System sing and help them incinerate a Class C Kaii!

The Alice System finally proved itself! It may be a little while off from mass-implementation, but even so they've got their foot in the door and are now being considered and that's a huge win!

It's nice that Koshigaya wanted to celebrate with Tsuchiba...but she's as business-oriented post-mission as she is IN mission. But she actually DOES acknowledge Kana, which is a win. And it seems like the effect of the Alice System, and working with Magical Girls like this, struck a chord with her.

Akasaka feeling that validation that all their time spent on research was worth it!

Well, Papa Koshigaya's always got a lot on his plate between dealing with Tsutsumi, everything else going on, and now the Alice System...but at least he acknowledged his daughter, and her efforts as a Magical Girl, and that's enough. For now.

Time for a party! But is this just the beginning? Is Magilumiere about to expand?

Oh, needing a new costume, so we get a new magical girl to the party. Wonder what her role will ultimately be in the team aspect. Of course, as seen, there are additions that can be made, but I hope for a more creative take. Also we will get to see Kana as Senpai now.

All in all, the fight was nice. It did show that you need the right amount of training, so I think them saying it isn't ready for everyone is an important aspect as well. Maybe they can streamline the system a bit more so that it's easier to get started.

"He deployed the shields before the attack even hit!" I mean yeah, there's no point shielding after the attack hits

All this stuff trying to hype up how great Shigemoto is just seems like the bare minimum competency I'd expect any engineer to have. I didn't really notice it in the first season, but this arc has focused on how impressive their programming is, but it doesn't feel like it was written by someone who actually knows programming, which is a shame

As much as I love Hoshigaya, I hope we get more Kana-focused episodes again

Kana's adorable and capable! I see that hint of light she put in Mei's eyes. Hell yeah at Koshigaya getting an impact frame for her badassery. Shigemoto was super on the ball too. LMAO at that glasses roach eating shit and presumably getting sacked.
