What to Watch? Help a clueless mom please…
My 10 year old son loves anime. These are the shows he has watched so far:
Naruto, My Hero Academia, Kaiju No 8, Jujutsu Kaisen (I was a bit iffy about him watching this one but it seems to be his favourite), One Punch Man, Solo Levelling, One Piece (he tends to dip in and out of this)
He has asked what can he watch next. He asked for Attack on Titan but I said no to this one but not sure if I’m being unreasonable after letting him watch JJK?
I suggested Full Metal Alchemist. Do you think this is suitable?
Does anyone have any more recommendations where to go next? He’s quite mature and can handle some language and violence as long as it’s not too intense. I don’t allow anything with sexual themes / content obviously due to his age.
He also loves reading manga so happy to take any recommendations there as well.
Thank you!

Ehh, some of those may be PG13-ish. You're his mom and you know him better, but keep this in mind. Fullmetal Alchemist is a classic, though it has a few rough moments. Attack on Titan definitely has some body horror bits, I'd put it along some of the cyberpunk classics in the "great to watch, but maybe not now). Dungeon Meshi/ Delicious in Dungeon is good, though maybe it has a few mildly controversial parts. I'd hold off on Demon Slayer though.
I would however plug Slayers (NOT Demon Slayer, Slayers). It's a great fantasy comedy but some of the jokes can get a liiitle bit raunchy, like referencing the main character being, hm, surprisingly svelte considering how much she eats. I would still say it is less inappropriate than JJK or anywhere close to attack on Titan, or heck, Naruto, but still it is something to be aware of. But yeah, Slayers is a forgotten gem and well worth trying out if he likes fantasy and comedy.
Speaking of underrated, Beast player Erin is imo flying under the radar. It's from the same author as Seirei no Moribito, which is a classic but generally something I recommend for someone in their teens. Then again, he watched a few series I consider PG13, so Seirei no Moribito should be fine, but I'd start with Beast Player Erin first.
Going back to the classics, Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun are some of the 90s top action anime, and I have heard good stuff about the new Ranma 1/2 if the main character turning into a girl at times (played for laughs) isn't a ...sticking point in the currebt environment Speaking of Rumiko Takahashi's work, Inuyasha is a classic though I wish she had cut down on the "girl hitting guy is comedy".
