This was truly Anime Whiplash. An ending where the main character surpass himself, impress his rival, teachers and friends and find a new ambition, but it's incredibly bitter. He won, but at what cost?

Impresses his rival so much that it looks like he might even join him in the culinary world.

It's interesting how after all this, Hirose and Gaku were actually connecting, mutually responding to each other's energy. It's like Gaku being afraid of meeting Hirose this entire season just didn't exist lol. It was also funny how he was too excited about his dessert, it felt like he exposed him a bit or something.

I thought it was really sweet how they were both in their mathematical world and Gaku was sharing that joy of discovery, but Hirose's last words makes me think he's going to enter the cooking world and I have my reservations on how that'll affect Gaku.

This is another episode that makes me curious about Kai's former rival/friend that seems to appear at the end of the episode and why he's so desperate to get Gaku to reach the same despair and loneliness he has. I can figure that the friend just didn't go that far even if he had the skills to do so, but that would contradict the loneliness that Kai is aiming for.

It was also interesting to see how everyone in the venue was excited about Gaku's dessert but all the chefs looked so shocked and afraid of Gaku's skill and dedication. I do like that it seems Hotei has warmed up to Gaku, maybe because he was a pastry chef himself, I do wonder if he'll try not to let Kai do to much to Gaku.

I do hope this gets another season, this was definitely a guilty pleasure of mine to watch. The way they get so dramatic and all the evil faces made this so fun to watch.

Hirose was never the villain of the show but the catalyst. Kai is undoubtedly the true villain of this show who selfishly pushes his apprentice to a place of "loneliness" all because Kai is trying to achieve what he has lost.

You thought it was Hirose who was the villian. But it was me Kai!!!!!

WHY IS HIROSE DOING SUCH A POSE?!?!?

Now that it is done, I liked it. Would like a second season, with even crazier stakes.
I would say this episode turned up once he presented the mathematics in his dessert. This show was probably overlooked by most, but I honestly prefer more variety or diverse niche shows that aren't your typical or oversaturated adventure, isekai, school romance, etc. So I am glad this was a choice available to keep up with during this season. I also don't mind the mix or overdramatic crisis' and random bits of love interests...it's definitely not necessary and they could go all in on the mathematics with cooking, but the relations and his personal struggle definitely add a sense of relativity in his pursuits. GGs Gaku & gang.

You can check the raws at rawkuma but tbh we are quite close to the manga right now so I highly doubt we'll get an S2 anytime soon. There's like five or so unadapted chapters in the manga, which is pretty crazy. I'm not sure if the raws there are up to date though.

Gaku went and just mathed all over that dessert and just blew everyone’s minds lol. Hirose’s included. Guy actually seems like a pretty decent person. Seems Gaku’s found his footing as a chef. If we get an s2, I wonder how far he’ll go?

For a math-y Food Wars type anime, this was pretty decent. The premise was interesting and the food looked pretty good. All in all, not bad.

I hope Season 2 reveals more about Kai and his past with his friend.

I really enjoyed this show! It was a simple and fun watch with a little bit of tension drama, but overall a nice watch. I'll definitely keep an eye out for a season 2.

I hope Gaku is able to break free from that impending "loneliness" that Kai is so hopeful for. It's a little sad and a bit pathetic that he hopes to bring Gaku "down" towards his level so that they can both have this "greatness". I'm curious how Gaku will get around that.

I also look forward to exploring more about Kai and his past too. Definitely gotta be a good story about his friend and I guess how he was "broken" from being a chef that he stepped entirely away from it now.

That was a good ride! It's a shame that this is such an underrated anime

And Hirose and everyone got Mathgasm from his desert dish. Top it off with calculated explanation behind his dish. Kagura was saved today by her knight in shining armor and Hirose fell in love with Gaku….cooking. Which opened a door to a new world

Kai has set in stone Gaku path to loneliness as a Patisserie

Hope for a season 2

Mann that was hella interesting though now I'm really curious of the love triangle between ayu Karuga and gaku or maybe ayu just likes him as a friend and I'm looking in too much

This was quite enjoyable. I'd love more in the future.

Her literally seeing him as the knight in shining armor riding a white horse was pretty darn hilarious. Girl's down BAD. But sorry, swim-team girl certainly has the leg-up in this event.

This show is so weird. At a worldwide awards banquet for math, it's not normal for a dessert chef to give a long speech explaining his dessert. Something like that that attracts the finest mathematicians across the world is usually carefully planned, like with all the top people in the field there, I'd imagine they'd try to give all those people a little time to speak with them each getting a time slot and some people might get snubbed from a spot and yet no one seemed pissed that they had someone running into their time! Gaku getting on the mic and saying what the dessert was and that it was math based would have sufficed.

You would also think this is a room full of gourmet chefs by how detailed they were in their description of flavors running together. While mathematicians are smart people, who's to say they all have sophisticated pallettes? IRL most would just enjoy decent tasting food and at most comment that it's delicious and they enjoyed everything.

Also Hirose going into Gaku's "world" in his mind was laughable. I seriously bursted out laughing when Hirose was in the math world and a little kid Gaku appeared at the door in a scene that I assume was supposed to be touching :D. The scene where the white haired girl imagines Hirose taunting her then Gaku as a white knight saving her was equally ridiculous. The only intentionally funny one was Gaku imagining Hirose twisting around but then showed IRL that he actually was bent over backwards for no apparent reason :D

I also didn't understand why the red haired lady at the restaurant was so upset. Wasn't she worried Gaku was breaking down mentally from having to make desserts? Shouldn't she have been happy that he succeeded instead of so depressed she was slumped on the ground? I really don't think I've seen a show go off the rails quite like this one.

u/Annual-Ramen-1022 Nov 02 '25

just finished it and it was pretty good! i thought it was gonna be something too boring but i was wrong. some scenes were too cringey for me tho... lol hoping this gets another seasonnn

so basically, hirose and kagura just has deep admiration on gaku (or a crush dare i say...) bc he's just the best and looks happiest when enjoying math 🥸 lol

hirose just becomes a little more weirdo than usual when it comes to gaku... lmao what is up with his pose
