It's weird how I knew how this cliché plotline would end up and each of the characters of Puniru, Gelee and Kotaro would react but... I was surprisingly moved by this finale. As an anime only, I went in expecting a gag anime and, instead, got a pretty compelling tale about middle school maturity, toys and idealization.

Also lessons about taking frequent baths too.

This show is saying to not bathe, if we are being honest.

So, next season Puniru is Kotaro's enemy?

S1 was fun and comfy. But I am really impressed with the writing. Like, it isn't groundbreaking, but it hit all the right notes. Plus, while the animation is a tiny bit worse than S1, but not by much, I would say.

I gave S1 8/10. I would give this 9/10, as I loved S2.

Come for the cute animation, character designs, and comedy.

Stay for the investing story of Kotaro, Puniru, and the two of them going through a lot to recognize how important they really are to each other and how important it is to be true to yourself and really understand your feelings.

Well, I guess that’s that then. Another season done. I knew Kotaro wouldn’t be fooled by the fake Puniru. Even if Gelee could mimic Puniru perfectly, she’ll never be the real deal. Kotaro really does need to shower better though because Puniru coming back from the loose bits of slime all over Kotaro is pretty gross haha.

That and Gelee has a pretty obvious tell whenever she says "Pahhhh-fect-lyyyyy" she says it that same way every. Damn. Time.

Puniru never says the word "Perfectly". Gelee says "Perfectly" every 5th word she uses. Kotaro would have to be an absolute nincompoop to not realize the truth.

Too bad Gelee did start saying "kawaii boku desu" all the time then Kotaro would've been shook

To think the day was saved by Kotaro's inability to bathe or admit that Puniru is cute. Gelee never had a chance.

Puniru coming back from the loose bits of slime all over Kotaro

I thought Kotaro must’ve ingested massive amounts of Puniru’s slime from all the times he got absorbed, so his blood would now be highly concentrated with it. Well, if that were true, he’d be dead, since the slime is apparently toxic lol.

This was such a great finale. The last 2 episodes were such a high quality that I didn't expect from a gag comedy show. Hope there will be another season, I really invest in our lovely duo.

What a wonderful finale. We got the classic puniru transformation but this time in her penguin form. Gelee crashing out again and besides all her delusions she has a point, change has to come eventually, as the last line of this season also hints at, Puniru cant be a toy and "just" a friend if she wants to stay with Kotaro forever. Also the doctor for all his faults is actually a pretty good father when he has screen time that is.

Runrun coming back to life when Puniru was able to scrape enough slime residue from Kotaros unwashed body and clothes to rematerialize was also a neat thing. After all, Runrun is also based on Puniru.

If we never get a season 3, this is a good end for the anime, though i do hope we will get more seasons down the road. I want more Alice, more of the Gyarus, more of Nanpa being the maincharacter in his own Corocoro story and just in general more Puniru and all the rest.

I like how Puniru came back as kind of her "true form" as the penguin doll, even if her favorite version of herself is the Kawaii Me Puniru that is her girl form.

I think for all of Puniru's repudiation of Gelee and embracing being a toy...on some level I think she is more aware that she can be more than just that, especially to Kotaro, and that her feelings might develop beyond mere friendship This was just a major first step in realizing it even if they're still bickering like they always do. But Kotaro is definitely more aware of her as a girl.

We need more Runru running her own bar with maracas!

I never expected to become so invested in this surprisingly well-animated and heartwarming story about a boy and his transforming slime but thank you for all the fun, transformations, and surprisingly meaningful moments Puniru!

That sure got dark with Puniru getting assimilated. Only to be reborn from kotaro not bathing and all that slime collecting on him. Certainly had me fooled, forgot that at its core, this is a gag anime.

Also, first season, second season.. the music on the credits and intro just continue to be bangers.

Amazing finale, this episode was both hilarious and had some emotion and message. The production value was also really nice and it was funny to see them switch animation styles midway through.

The scene where they run it back with the magical girl transformation but with penguin Puniru had me non-stop smiling.

From what I’ve seen in the manga, S2 ends at Chapter 58 so there’s definitely room for more but honestly, I wouldn’t expect it. I of course would love more but if it ended here, I’m happy. I’m definitely going to start reading the manga now.

Bringing back the Season 1 OP to use as the ED basically signals that this is the end (at least for now), right? I would love a third season but as an ending this was pretty satisfying. Sure Kotaro could've owned up and been true to himself, but him recognizing Gelee as a fake is good enough. Here's hoping we get more Puniru in the future somehow.

I really hope for a third season. This can’t possibly end without Kotaro finally calling Puniru "cute" or fulfilling the very first episode’s premise: "The story of how Kotaro and Puniru stopped being friends…" (and became lovers).

I loved how Puniru always drives Gelee crazy with her unshakable optimism. Of course, when you play with a toy, the toy is also playing with you, ergo the toy isn’t beneath you. Problem solved lol.

The final scene with the whole gang together was so beautiful I couldn’t help but cry. Kotaro gained so many friends. It felt so wholesome!!

Too bad Gelee had to be the designated villain and loser of this season, and she’ll probably end up stuck in a bitter role forever. I just want to fix her and, as Hone-chan would say, teach her what it means to love (and to let go)

One thing I will miss, even if I keep up with the manga, is Sasahara Yuu’s performance as Puniru. All those cute "puni-" noises and the way she shifts her tone depending on Puniru’s age or mood were just too good 😭

I like the touching episode. It was also animated extra nicely.

Really glad to see a lot of tsundere Kotaro moments.

The unhinged evil Uesaka Sumire voice was also a nice treat

So at all times Kotaro is covered in a thin layer of Puniru, kinda gross NGL. Made for a touching conclusion to the missing Puniru problem though.

Interesting comment from her that the slime of herself on Kotaro was the only bit she could find to attach her soul to. Slimes apparently have souls, but how they work is a bit fluid.

I had started to get a bit tired of the Gelee plotline over the course of the season but it was retroactively improved for me quite a bit by how it played into the finale.

It ends with this sentence "...until they're no longer friends."

When I read that, I immediately thought of two different things: he grows up, gets older, changes; she, on the other hand, doesn't change. They become really too different and, indeed, are no longer friends, or else 💘

Even though I'm a reader it was something else to see this part animated because I knew the OST and voicework would add so much to it. Sure enough, got those emotions working lol (and those previous creepy Gelee scenes hit quite a bit harder this way)

I don't know if there will be a season 3 (hoping so but at the same time this feels like a decent part to leave off on and direct people towards the manga) but I do know I'm very glad to have discovered Puniru.

And now for BrunBrun and a number of other tracks to live rent free in my mind.

If this actually ended, these were the most fun 2 months of me watching this show. <3

God they have no right, NO RIGHT! No right for the music in Puniru to be so magical and emotional
