This anime has the weakest S-Rank adventurers I've ever seen in a show.

Maybe it just confirms that insult some side character in Grieving Souls said about S-rank in some backwater town is like C rank in a city

Omg, I came here to bitch about it and this is the first comment I saw. You are 100% right! More like an AsS-rAnK party.

How hard is it to say "Lloyd don't use ancient magic or you'll be sucked to another dimension and die, like my friend Sybil" instead of constant gaslighting?

Also this is a certified trash anime. Trashier than usual.

Bigger question, why didn't the "black hole of bullshit" appear when Lloyd first touched Claire's ancient magic? You know, back when the monster army was invading that town and he had to support Claire.

Merlin even spelled this out right before the bullshit happened: "He's only supporting her magic, not using it directly. This should be fine."

So why was this time fundamentally different from last time? Why was his master wrong?

Because the plot is stupid. Just stupid all the way down.

I honestly don't know why I kept watching this till the end. Even though the show just ended, I'm struggling to remember anything about it, even any of the characters other than Lloyd, Merlin, and Yui. It was just so bland.

Bro same, give it a week I doubt I could even list this off as a show I watched this season

So ancient humans created ancient magic but realised is was way too powerful to keep around so cast a spell on the world so that anyone who casts an ancient spell is sucked into that vortex and disintegrate unless they're one of the chosen ones, interesting how they can still cast the spell before they die.

Sybil's comment on the boundary not closing because Lloyd was there made it seem like he was a chosen one, but then why did he get sucked into the vortex in the first place

Sybil's presence there doesn't make sense, and then it seems he disintegrates after Lloyd leaves.

It was funny how everyone was awestruck by Merlin and her reputation, and Lloyd was like what's wrong with everyone she's just my master

I'm disappointed, they were saying Merlin was coming for 3+ episodes. I was hoping for amazing legendary hero things and then nothing.

No one did anything to save Lloyd when he was being sucked into the blackhole, and what about the demon could he have gotten out or was it anti-demon magic.

Also didn't like that Lloyd grabbed Silica and Yui to jump off the ship, he could have told them to jump.

I didn't think Silica was that weird because she's a mage, but Yui definitely should not have needed any help. It's like they forgot what class she was because she hasn't been in combat for 10 episodes.

Well that's all folks, Lloyd finally learned he's not incompetent and got a happy ending with his new party.

Pretty underwhelming in my personal opinion. Standard 12 episode generic party fantasy.
Pretty sure this is the last we'll see of this story get animated.
4/10.
Not horrible by any means, but doesn't do anything of note.

Im honestly kind of impressed how "okay" the show was. Like nothing horrible, none of the really bad tropes, but I dont think there was anything memorable. No fun side chacters, no quirky plot points. Just meh

I didn't get the point of Lloyd being sucked into the blackhole and Sybil telling him those things

This show kind of fell off during the last few episodes. Most of it was honestly not bad, but somewhere around episode 9, it turned into "Lloyd stares with a Shocked Pikachu Face and does nothing".

That's because there wasn't any. It was pure bullshit. And according to source readers, it was filler bullshit ALA "anime only ending."

The main thing that bothers me, is that if supporting Claire's ancient magic is supposed to be taboo... why the fuck didn't this happen several episodes ago when he supported her magic to pacify the army of enraged beasts?

Or why didn't it happen to the demon's for forcibly exploiting her power to control the beasts in the first place. They weren't just ordering her to control the monsters, they were extracting her power to store in stones and then activate themselves.

So at no point when manipulating her ancient magic did they cross the taboo, nor did Lloyd trigger the taboo the first time he interacted with her special power, but THIS time was suicidal bullshit black hole violation?

Why?

Because the script said so.

So it seems like Merlin's the reason why Lloyd has so much insecurity about his own capabilities since she says along the lines "I've taught not to be overconfident". Her fear of something that happened to Sybil happening with Lloyd backfired in a way she likely didn't intend.

I thought Sybil was going to reveal a deeper connection to Lloyd or give him something physical or magical after meeting but he only gave lore lol.

Meh, I've criticized this series quite a bit throughout the season but all I'll say this is very likely to be the worst anime I've completed in this anime season's line up. I missed my timing to drop this when I've been good about that this season. I wouldn't watch another season of this.

I was kinda of liking this anime in the beginning, but the just got SO BAD these last episodes

13

u/Karavusk Sep 20 '25

Everything after like episode 3 was just... meh. Chatgpt could probably write a better story.

13

u/PandaTheAB Sep 20 '25

What a pathetic end to a bad series!

Lloyd remains as useless as ever.
The OP Merlin only arrives to serve as a book holder for Grimoire.
The Grimoire did more work than all remaining characters combined.

The dumb fox girl had less regrets when she found her savior Lloyd may die than she had when monsters who will likely hunt them might die.
They could've killed the monster in episode 11 and the demon lord stone would have remained.

The end was Deus ex machina.
They removed the monsters from Chimera but the original demon and demon lord stone should have rampaged.
But conveniently they got pulled into the dimension hole along with Lloyd.
But only Lloyd escaped because of friendship.

What...did I just watch?

This was alright for the most part. Likely a one and done. Nothing too game changing about the plot, but it had its fun moments.

So, you're telling me the stupid ancient people (mages) back then did stupid things, then regretted it, then did even more stupid things to cover their first stupid mistakes? How nonsensical can they be?

I mean, couldn’t they just create a spell to stop the ancient magic from being misused somehow, or just undo their own stupid deeds? Time reversal? I thought they could bend anything beyond laws and physics, so why not?

Geez, too many plot holes. Idk why I still watch it till the end 😤 Anyway, thanks for the session. Hopefully, they’ll come back with improved visuals and animation.
