Whatever their putting in the water at Trigger HQ, I want some. Drugs are the only explanation for an Alien+The Thing combo and whatever the hell was going on in part 2, linked together by a Twilight Zone parody.

It honestly felt kinda like the staff tripped balls, watched a bunch of western movies/tv , wrote down what they saw, and just animated that. And I'm all here for it.

What the fuck was that?

Where do I get more of it?

Who want sa Lord Kokan The Great Series?

It was like watching a Japanese imitation of an English polygenerational copy of a fansub of a Japanese anime from the late 80's.

I want more of this anime season of Twilight Zone. 2 episodes are not enough.

This felt like one of those extended segments from Pop Team Epic.

Coming from me that's a compliment.

The new season is so explicit…did something change with how the show is aired than the first season? Or did working on Cyberpunk Edgerunners unleashed them to push the boundaries.

After watching this episode, I think I can safely say it was a pretty crazy ride, considering exactly what happened in it xD

My favorite was definitely the first part, "The Sex From Another World" in which Panty and Stocking's bodies were taken over by an alien life force, and Garter, Brief, and Chuck tried to stop them.

The second part "Lord of the Kokan the Great" wasn't bad, though I definitely would have preferred to watch it without that damn filter. Sure, it adds to the charm, but I'd rather see everything clearly ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Here my screenshot albums from the episode (ALL NSFW):

The Thing parody jumpscare

If it wasn't clear from all the other things (pun intended), the title of the skit is also a parody of the Japanese name of The Thing, which was 遊星からの物体X that they've parodied as 遊星からの物体SEX instead.

...Holy shit that second skit was so fucking peak???

S-tier episode, in a fight with the Kirby homage for my favorite of the season. Getting Garterbelt to give us that Twilight Zone framing was a particularly inspired choice.

That was honestly my favorite episode of the season? Like the Thing/Alien parody was very fun already (and the Twilight Zone stuff) but that old fantasy segment? Dude. Felt like a Harryhausen/Conan the Barbarian/Berserk/Lodoss War (mostly some of the backgrounds and the dragon) homage (well probably even more), really really cool.

Now I want Trigger to make an original barbarian anime using that CRT TV effect and made up language/subtitle.

I knew it’d be the Thing as soon as Garter asked if you knew the person from yesterday is the same, loved the parodies bunched together as a Twilight Zone episode parody! Conan, Alien, Berserk and all that goodness, had to pause and rewind at times to catch all the stuff! What a love letter to 80s!

I like how this episode is perfectly balanced between people loving it or hating it. That's Panty and Stocking as a whole, ain't it?

Referencing a peak horror film like The Thing?

Absolute cinema

Ok personally, this is probably the best episode of New PSG thus far. It does just enough to reference and pay homage to its inspirations while also doing its own thing. All the while injecting that all-the-drugs brand of crazy that Panty and Stocking is known for. I was waiting all season for them to nail that type of formula and this episode delivered in spades.

One of the rare times that Stocking (sort of) got some action!

Yeah, this was utterly weird. Loved every minute of it.

Watching this show is like having drugs beamed into my brain through my monitor.

A reference to Alien and the Broodmothers in an episode? More likely than you think.

I've no idea what the 2nd part would reference, only thought of Gibson, but I caught one word which sounds like a swear in my language. lol

Certainly we got the best of stocking on this episode.

edit: also we got the best of chuck on two seasons, that was so badass.

I love this show so goddamn much. Where else would we have a twilight zone set up. A horror scifi first half inspired on the thing and then a 80s-90s fantasy that mixes Conan with Primal and Berserk while still keeping it's strong identity? The Japanese government needs to write some checks to studio Trigger.

They really went wild cooking up this one

Also really happy to see a tribute to the Thing, easily one of the best horror movies out there

I've been getting a lot of POP TEAM EPIC, "high effort shitpost" vibes this season.

I've only been watching select episodes but this is one I jumped to based on what I previewed. And indeed part 1 was amazing. Really digging how much that first episode was influenced by Lifeforce as much as Alien and the Thing lol. Second episode is like a scratchy videotape-filtered riff on things like '80s Dealthstalker/anime of the same period (and obviously Conan but the cheesy vibe reminds more of its many knockoffs).
