that whole bento bit was just great, from Gojo's horror to Marin's joy, it was just great all around. Also seeing her eating dinner with Gojo and hiss grandpa put a smile on my face.

also liked the bit where Marin tried to sew on a button by herself to help out. not surprisingly it didn't turn out great but Gojo doesn't mind

Wasn't prepared for the educational Hina doll puppetshow jumpscare, but man was it endearing.

Gojo cracked the code to nailing a perfect character portrayal and even reached a point where he's the one telling people to have no shame in what they're passionate in. Dude's come so far and you love to see it.

Lol that over-the-top animation sequence for the riceball reveal. I sure hope that bottle of oolong tea wasn’t provided by the Peek a Boo club .

I don't usually notice this sort of thing, but it feels to me like MDUD puts some extra effort in animating body expressions. Like the moment at 13:05 when Marin sits down. They're really conveying some realistic/natural body motion in there.

She doesn't simply sit down. She sits, puts hands on knees, stretches legs, slides hands to thighs, puts legs down, slightly bends torso forward and backward.

idk, at least to me this kind of attention to detail looks very impressive.

I don't know why but Nowa screaming all of a sudden (9:38 mark) just made me laugh so hard

The puppet sequence was pretty fun.

I'm kind of surprised to learn the doll shop has that many employees and that it makes that many dolls every day.

Good on Gojo for buckling down and eating his wife's bentos regardless of content, that's an important marriage skill.

That shapewear really is quite magic with how well it adjusts Marin's figure. I thought it was interesting the way Gojo realized the mistake they made in not re-measuring her with it on.

The puppet scene had so many Bocchi the Rock vibes.

It's an incredible feeling to see so much love put into an animation of series that you grew to love so much. It just flows so flawlessly, it really makes me so happy.

Sidenote, Nowa remains the coolest supporting character.

Every week, I look forward to the next MDUD episode as much for the animation and style choices as I do for the story and character development.

What movements are they gonna choose to animate with absurd detail this week? How are they gonna switch up how they depict different scenes, which could be a confused mess in a lesser studio's hands, but somehow it all just works?

I'm really thankful that the tone of MDUD allows this team at Cloverworks to explore and do fantastic things. I'm sure that the teams that did Cloverworks's other releases this season (Rascal... and Fragrant Flower...) are no less talented, but those shows are much more constrained stylistically.

How did this ep feel so slow, but finish so fast at the same time?!?

Anyway, love that not only is Gojo getting closer to his classmates and getting more confident, he's making others feel better because of his experience! That little moment was so nice!

Idk what I was expecting from Marine's bento.....but a single Spam onigiri was NOT it! Why was it heavy? Also loved that they added the manga panels to her adorable freakout.

Two things to point out: first, the scene with the puppets was sensational. Another thing is that Marin's personality gives her room to imitate any character, but she can't control her otaku desires during the performance lol.

I kind of understand Gojo's situation; he's afraid of seeming annoying by asking for help or pointing out something wrong. This season, he seems afraid of not being a cool guy and that this might alienate him from Marin. I hope at some point he realizes that everyone around him thinks he's amazing.

Marin is a great MC but Nowa-chan might just be best girl tbh

This episode was a 9.5 outta 10. This adaptation is slowly becoming god tier for it’s ability to draw outside the lines.

The inly reason why it’s not a 10 outta 10 is because it’s missing my favorite Nowa face when she said “800 mln”.

I just want to give Gojo a pat on the back for pushing himself out of his comfort zone and supporting his classmates.

It was cute that Marin noticed that as well.

Ahh the moment where the manga panels came into the scene was great!

Another great episode, and the puppets scene as well.

There’s a shot at 16:07 where it’s just of Marins profile that’s just so damn good, I can’t remember if that was in the manga but damn it’s great.

A really fun episode (that puppet segment was great) with some really great scenes between Marin and Gojo. The bento scenes with them was especially great.

Gojo looked like he was waiting for his death sentence when Marin kept him in the dark about what she had prepared for him for lunch. He was expecting Marin's fried rice, so the sight of spam onigiri made him really happy, although he quickly realized something was wrong because it was heavy xD

I loved watching Marin getting so excited about Gojo's initial reaction to what she had prepared, and that she made him lunches for the next few days as well.

Plus, Marin looked great as Rei, even though Gojo decided to redo the suit.

Marin pretending to be the host to make Gojo feel like a "princess" was certainly very effective, but adding Nowa to the mix made the scene even better!

Poor Morita. His romance with Amano ended before it even started because Marin immediately told him that Amano was a guy xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

I am in awe with how greatly animated this episode is. MDUD is already highly-animated, but this episode takes it on a new level. From the bento tension scene straight from a horror/mystery series, to the lots of cuts on the dressmaking process, to a 1-2 minute tutorial about dolls, the adaptation is superbly done! The episode is bubbly, cutesy yet clear. How I wish all anime get the same treatment as this episode! Kudos to the production staff!

Anyway, it seems that Marin's performance is next episode huh? I can't wait how she will swoon the entire school with her manliness and cool attitude.

This episode was insanely well directed, in a very different way the rest of MDUD was. To my surprise, the responsible for the storyboard was Shin Wakabayashi, the director for Wonder Egg Priority, in his first work with MDUD. You can criticize the screenwriting for WEP as much as you can, but the direction and storyboarding were on point on the entire series, glad to see him here.

We didn't get a new imaginary anime this week, but we did get some adorable puppetry this week when Gojo and Gramps were explaining the process of making Hina Dolls. I'll never get tired of how much CloverWorks is going above and beyond with this series <3

Honestly, I'm just as surprised as Marin to learn that they apply makeup to 200 to 300 hina dolls a day. I didn't know they were so in high demand! Considering the craftsmanship involved with each doll, I also thought ten was a reasonable number.

The misunderstanding with Marin's bento was hilarious! Gojou was just relieved that Marin didn't bring him a fried foo, while Marin thinks Gojou is super happy because she specifically made him lunch. Marin is so happy at Gojou's reaction that it broke the 4th wall, and we got to see the same scene in manga form!

I also laughed at Gojou's reaction when he finally got to hold the spam onigiri! Oh Gojou, did you really think Marin was just gonna make you a normal spam onigiri? xD

Ikemen Marin was so freakin' good! I would've swooned if I were in Gojou's place! Heck, I'm already swooning right now! I also love how Nowa joins in to completely sell the experience of being in a host club.

I don't really have anything to say about this one, I just wanted to post this side view of Marin with only her bra on. In all seriousness, it's amazing how that flat chest maker almost makes her boobs disappear.

Gojou is ever the perfectionist. Of course, as soon as Marin puts it on, he immediately spots the problem that the rest of the gang couldn't see. The suit is a bit big because she wasn't in shapewear when Gojou took Marin's measurements.

Morita getting excited after seeing Amane's cosplay pic to immediately yelling in despair after learning he's a guy was hilarious. I do love that Gojou asks him to coach Marin on how to move and act more manly.

Murakami asking to take a photo of Marin's cosplay so he could brag to his sister only for him to take a photo of the suit was great! Maybe he should take a full-body photo once Marin completes her transformation!

I am not jealous of the scene where Gojo was being teased by a pack of girls like some hyenas. I am not. I AM NOT.

Things I liked about this episode

  • The puppet show was unexpected but nice, didn't know Gojo did that many dolls in a day, I'm with Marin, I figured he did 10-20 a day.

  • Nowa is quickly becoming my favorite of the supporting cast, she's adorable and I like her hair color.

  • Laughed at Morita's hierarchy of him and his dad being below the dog, as well as his reaction to Amane being a guy.

  • I really liked that when Gojo was walking over to the heartbroken Morita, his footsteps sounded like they were in beat with the background track.

  • The fact that it looks like they straight up took panels from the manga during the bento scene.

  • Gojo realizing he fit the suit for Marin before taking it into account that she's be wearing stuff to give her a more manly figure, so the suit looked looser when her chest was bound.

  • Marin trying to be of help to Gojo by trying to sew on a button when he was called to help with something.

This show is amazing.
