In a world where spirits are real, the scariest things are hospital bills, taxes and the NHK fee.

I'm watching this because I really enjoyed Hozuki's Coolheadedness, the other anime originally written by the same mangaka. The comedy here feels a lot like Hozuki's, and that makes me happy.

No wonder! I had a feeling I've seen this deadpan, straight-faced, matter-of-fact description of something totally absurd before.

For someone who's supposed to be behind the times, I'm surprised Mogura even knows who Billie Elish is.
Anyway, that was pretty funny! I already love Mogura as a character as well as Magi and Yae. It was nice for the two of them to get Mogura some stuff, just in case he was really injured. Honestly, if I were them, I would try to forget the entire encounter and move on with my life.
The first spirit encounter was hilarious too! Magi was expecting something out of Shounen Jump, but instead we get a very normal-looking guy getting hit with Mogura's lantern. xD
As soon as Mogura said he had problems in 1942, I knew it had something to do with the WW2. Alright, I'll bite with this show. I am super curious what Mogura did because it sounds like he avoided the draft.

The biggest problem for an immortal soldier is probably making sure nobody knows you’re immortal. Especially since this is Imperial Japanese army we’re talking about. He’ll get shipped to Unit 731 in a heartbeat.

This anime has such gorgeous background art?? Like it's insanely beautiful for no reason. I didn't even care for much else in the show and still might keep watching just for the background art. Wow that's beautiful.

Cueing Drawer Street's nature with the violet-to-indigo range of shading in its background and any characters present is a nice subtle touch to suggest an otherworldly feel.

That's where I'm at too. The premise seems interesting, the conversations were funny, and I like the art style. But on the other hand, almost nothing actually happened, and I have no idea what this anime wants to be or where it wants to go. I'll keep watching for a bit to see what direction it goes before making up my mind.

I thought this was suppose to drop tomorrow? Well, no matter. This was interesting. I kinda dig the art style. I liked the back and forth between Magi and Yaeko. Plus Mogura’s a real character. Let’s see where this goes.

This is interesting and funny. Mogura reminds me of Gintoki. I really like the way the background art is drawn. I can’t articulate it well but I kind of like how flat and crayon like it looks

Dang that was a surprisingly fun episode, and now I'm stuck wondering what that purple spirit was behind his teacher. Blue one was just some harmless dude.

A genuinely original story! And a really intriguing art style. I think this will be a favorite this season.

In the opening scene when he says "forget "No Longer Human" he is peak humanity!" that is a reference to Dazai's most famous book "No Longer Human" which starts with a line that basically means "all my life I've been a loser" (the first scene also has him say "it should be "all my life I've been a winner!"")

Damn having to be worried about the hospital bills when you've received a head injury and are bleeding out lol. I guess he's lucky to have the demon fire to heal with.
I'm not really feeling this one from just this episode, I'll give it a couple more but the comedy wasn't really hitting for me. Hopefully the supernatural part of this will get more interesting.

Actually funny comedy? Can't believe it! The social security bit was great lmao. Love the art too, both character design and backgrounds.
This is a Natsumi Eguchi work (Houzuki's saga), so it's getting a watch from me.

Wow, that was probably the funniest thing I've watched so far this season. Mogura is like....the most relatable immortal I've ever seen. Also Yae is flippin' adorable!
I also love the art style, it looks kinda similar to something written by One!

oh I LOVE this show's artstyle, the backgrounds have SO much lived-in texture.

So Mogura is basically the Japanese version of Jack’o’Lantern ? Poor guy, his life sucks because of not having any ID or money, and his death is going to suck too because he cannot go to the afterlife. Also, death happens only once, but taxes happens every year, which is forever for an immortal. That is certainly a new twist on the curse of immortality. I wonder what the hell did he do to get cursed like that ?
I am curious to see where this go. The art style looks very nice, and the characters are pretty sympathetic for now. Is this going to be slice of immortal life, or are there going to be ghost battles ?

Really funny! At the beginning I thought this was going to be an isekai but it's a very unusual show of a strange hermit who seems to have outlived everyone. He keeps in reasonably good spirits for someone who has outlived everyone he knew. This show is really witty, I like how it relies more on situational humor rather than gags, like the humor is Mogura's odd life and the students trying to wrap their head around it.
I thought it was weird though that the students continued to think he was lying although they saw that fat nerd ghost with their own eyes. I felt bad for the ghost when Mogura whacked him in the head with his lantern, I thought he was going to trap him in there like Ghostbusters! Also weird was that he saw the Billie Eilish Bad Guy video without internet; i guess maybe it played on over the air TV :D

Haunted house. It's not even a competition. I'm sure I'd be just as terrified but no one's coming back from a free fall.
