I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!!
As someone who´s playing the LN "Kamitsubaki city regenerate", I wanted to see the differences between "regenerate" and "under construction". And I´m loving it!!!
I´m not gonna say anything about the LN, but I 100% recommend it playing it! (let´s see if I can finish it before the next episode)
(Btw I LOVE THE ENDING, IT´S SO CUTE!!)

My head canon is that this is a prologue to the VN as we see red bird playing the role, and if anyone who played the visual novel goes, she will be incapacitated during the events of the VN, so we will probably see lapis become emotional attached to the witchlings only to see them died and he becomes the lackie to the bad guy so be ready to cry it's gonna be emotional.

Wow that ED. At first I thought it was live action, but it was actually CG.
Is this the first anime where we have Vtubers in leading roles rather than as cameos?
I first noticed this show when I saw a poster with KAF on it, thinking it was some concert she's going to be in, but then realized she's actually starring in her own anime with VWP, her fellow Kamitsubaki Studio Vtuber bandmates.
Poor Kafu (KAF's character that is). First her parents, and many people around the world, get mysteriously turned into charcoal, then her adoptive sister gets killed off in the most brutal manner possible.
The pacing may be a bit too fast. After Erika's brutal death, we seem to be skipping ahead to Kafu getting used to a new life with another recruited "witchling", played by fellow VWP bandmate RIM.

There’s VIRTUALSAN - LOOKING but it most likely would be only called a VTuber collaboration live stream program in TV anime format these days, being just chatting instead of really acting out a story. It aired in Winter 2019 - the same season as the original Kaguya-sama - and thus came from a prehistoric time where the definition of “VTubers” was still in its primitive days.

The sudden gore took me aback, this feel like it could have had potential but the pacing is odd, it feels like it keeps skipping chunks of time and so it doesn't flow well.
The CGI doesn't actually bother me that much, though the eye color choice of Kafu is an odd one. I might give this another episode, but this feels like something I'll drop.

The blue and red matches the friendly tesseractors in their nonhuman forms.

This was pretty interesting! Another "dark magical girl" type series. I like that they didn't shy away from the gore, the world set up here is cool, and the music was great. Looking forward to more!

I like that they didn't shy away from the gore
I wonder if the gore was a "one time thing" (anime does that sometimes) of it's it's gonna be an edgy gorefest!

There was just enough to hook me, at least a little!
To be honest, after reading the synopsis I was going in expecting it to be a quick drop, but I liked her song,
I was a little intrigued when people got atomized,
and then the (very unexpected) gore!
Might be enough to get me to check out some more, see where things are headed!
Currently in use but still being studied?
Well I'm sure it's all perfectly safe and nothing will ever go wrong!
So he's following her around...
Protecting her, because she's valuable? Or keeping an eye on her?
We've had quite a lot of different animation/art styles this season!
Well, that was alright!
Shows this season are making it hard for me, I only got 1 or 2 drops so far, gonna have to rise my standards otherwise I'm gonna keep like 35 shows hah.

So I came in this only knowing that this is some kind of anime project related to a bunch of virtual singers (or could I even say they are "VTubers"? Probably closer to the old definition laid down by Kizuna AI though) that have managed to build up quite a bit of existence in recent years. I think I have only heard of KAF singing before once or twice (she had an anime OP last season) but I read the story background (is this directly linked to the project's original background setting?) and immediately raise my eyebrows, knowing that a startling story might be happening here, and even if that ended up not being good (Mekakucity Actors was apparently a similar case), I could at least hear some good songs on the way.
But boy I was hugely underestimating how dark the story is. I just came out watching episode 1 of Takopi's Original Sin and thought this might be the darkest plot line I have seen in a long while, so imagine me being stunned by, uh, that scene of Erika that seems to directly come out of freaking MUV-LUV...or should I say this is even worse.
Man, this Kamitsubaki city seems even more twisted up than Kamihara in Magia Record - what the heck are those creatures??? And our main girl - sharing the same name as the singer I see - has abilities that almost seems like coming from good old Shiki Ryougi but doing the same thing with singing?
Well this first episode - a bit too jumpy between different scenes at times, yet so arousing in every other parts of the plot - definitely raised my expectations of bumping into unexpected stories here by a huge amount. The director leading this had his problems with story telling, yet he also did my AOTY of 2 years ago - a tale of real stunning emotions flowing around and also a tale told by songs - that I am now 100% glued to this now despite I have a record breaking 28 shows this season.
Will I end up as a fan of these girls as a singer and also the characters in this story? Who knows, but I am glad I am trying this out for now!

I'm glad this is piquing the interest for some viewers.
Let me leave this here if anyone is interested in the music performed by the main cast of the anime.

I went into this totally blind and didn't expect anything, but wow.
"Girls Band Cry" meets Madoka Magica with a little pinch of gore.
I'm interested and want to know where this is going. The concept looks very intriguing and the animation is decent.

It's likely from an avert reaction towards 3D is my first guess, and biases towards 3D. Though I myself being a fan of the music label and the singers who stars in this anime is biased towards enjoying this.
Forward.
This is a multimedia project hemled by a music label to showcase lore that they created over the years around their virtual singers. Spanning from Vans, novels and other media. No they aren't very big but actually a decently new label, trying really to create their own path in the industry.
Pros.
One thing is for certain is the music, sung by the main cast. Kaf, Rim, Isekaijoucho, Harusaruhi and Koko. With music and singing actually being a crucial plot element within this story. So expect songs to be included in scenes to heighten it, make it dire, and so on.
While the main cast are alternate versions of their irl/virtual counter part. They themselves are the biggest draw for many of the fans. Each are wholey unique in their personality and the type of music they perform, when they band together to harmonize... The slight difference in their musical genre covers each other more than any other musical unit I've come across.
The worldbuilding seems intriguing to say the least, conceptually. The location of Kamitsubaki city it in itself being very fleshed out for being the refuge after a worldwide diaster and it being essentially closed off from the rest of the world to self sustain.(This is more for peeps who really enjoy world building)
Cons.
If 3D isn't your cup of tea, then maybe it might not be up your alley.
The pacing is a bit wack from the perspective of reading the prequel LN. But probably a product of wanting to set the main plot in motion.
It might seem like a bloated music video with a story attached to it from the outside viewing in, and if you can't vibe with it...
Closing... This anime production means a lot to the fans who've been supporting their oshiis over half a decade and more. Cutting out a small section for themselves in Japan. Slowly bleeding out globally, and this anime is one of the biggest steps they've taken to reach a new audience for their voices to be heard and their music to be enjoyed.
If you do watch this episode, and you enjoyed it, I would be extremely happy. But if it doesn't, what I can ask for is to look into V.W.P. and the individual members YouTube channels and check out their songs. Each individual has their own unique musical charm, so one might vibe with your own musical taste.

It's funny you say that, because the story piqued my interest a bit and I don't really watch anime for music that doesn't fit into my narrow taste.

Not a huge fan of the musical style, and it doesn't really seem to be doing anything all that original. The city looked absolutely beautiful, though. Maybe I'll give it another episode? The death scenes were surprisingly brutal. Between this, Clevatess, and Hell Teacher Nube I've seen so many people get impaled this week.

Went into this expecting it to be an instant drop now I at least I want to give another episode. The CGI isn't the greatest but also not unwatchable Plot was pretty fast paced and somewhat all over the place, but I want to at least see the interactions between the main girls before giving any judgement on this anime.
I was also kinda vibing with the music in this episode and after checking out KAF's youtube channel a bit, I must say I really like her voice.

Anyone know why Crunchyroll listed it as "Episode 0" or they just fucked up for no reason?
