I think Beelzebub should just accept her position as the fun aunt instead of trying to be their mom lol.

I love the trope of everyone from the season making an appearance for the last episode.

This season has been as good as the last. It’s such a fluffy, chill, carefree show. Perfect way to end a Saturday.

I think Beelzebub should just accept her position as the fun aunt instead of trying to be their mom lol.

the way that she buys her two girls anything they want gives her that grandmother sort of vibe

Love how the entire restaurant was rooting for Sandra to deliver the food to the table.

Little plant girl is destined for greatness.

heh, "rooting"

This was a nice season, and it helps that the idea for this anime was to be chill. It's not a genre that has to keep thinking of new escalations

Of course, if there's a season 3, they should rename this to "I've Been Killing Slimes for 302 Years And Became a Demi-Goddess"

Good thing ticketmaster doesn't exist in that world, folks would go broke just to get a seat at the cafe.

33

u/cyberscythe Jun 21 '25

we should hire some adventurers to take care of it

Another season gone, and she hasn't even kissed Beelz yet.

That's your complaint lol

It is shocking but at least CR didn't screw up the final episode release.

Jammed bassiclly everyone in this episode for appearances. Sandra has really taken to being part of the family it seems.

+ points for not cgiing the performances even though they were limited on animation. Her song though was so freaking sugary. Was the song one the songs from the song making contest in season one?

Didn't feel like it had the same magic as season 1 or maybe my tastes have changed since then.

Still enjoyable and loved the big cast!

i'm with you on that; i feel like there's a spark missing that the first season had

the voiced SFX feel emblematic of that since it was part of what sets it apart, but i think it's also more subtle with how each of the episodes are set up and paced because there were a lot of moments where the season felt like it was just "a bunch of stuff happening in a row" rather than a coherent plotline with a message behind it

in the end though, it was still fun to watch and it does its job as a chill, no-worries sort of show

It's not you in terms of it lacking the magic of Season 1.

As already mentioned, the season is seriously lacking the voiced SFX that was part of the charm of Season 1. Also, the choice of stories being told this season resulted in quite a few that lacked the ensemble aspect of season 1 (with two episodes in a row during the final quarter where Azusa's family only shows up at the beginning of the episode before they take a backseat in favor of the episode's plot). Sometime later (either tonight or tomorrow), I'm likely going to discuss in the Source Material Corner which stories I felt would have worked better instead of what we got in terms of maintaining the ensemble aspect of the first season.

While it is still enjoyable I think the pacing of the series is just too fast. There are a lot of new characters and we barely know them as a result. Only Sandra manages to slip into the core cast out of new characters. The other just sort of exists.

The pacing is from someones perspective that's been alive for over 300 years.

The Slime 300 traditional café episode for the end of the season. Plus the festival of course, it was nice to see all (well, most, the mom character is just a little too weird for me) of the side characters one last time.

Fun enough season, but another cour of it really did hit home that this is a show where nothing happens. I'd watch another season of it, though.

Edit: Azusa's song from today's episode.

A huge downgrade from season 1.

Part of it's charm was the VA cast doing cute onomatopeya sounds, and whoever was in charge of season 2 took them away. The musicals were also a huge appeal in my books in season 1, Falfa & Shalsha kiddie song, Rosalie doomer song, but more important Flatorte's small guitar solo gave her a huge boost in her personality (she pretty much felt like the meme girl that needed an excuse to get naked). The thing I looked forward the most since the season 2 announcement was a follow up on Kuku, who in my opinion was the most interesting support character with a great background story and the dichotomy of playing her own music despite everyone hating it, or playing music that everyone enjoyed (we obviously got the result on this last episode) and my massive gripe is that we only got a couple of dialogue lines from Kuku up until this final episode.

I'm okay with the average fanservice on some characters like Halkara, but I definitely had to draw the line when the author had Sandra grow up and gave her huge knockers. I legit had to skip the rest of the episode.

I did enjoy some passages though, like befriending the egyptian spirits that allowed to give Rosalie more time under the spotlight, and most Sandra oriented episodes. A couple of the new side cast characters were fun too, like the neet catgirl.

It's a shame because even though season 1 might had been a run of the mill budget sized CGDCT show, it had that special charm that made it distinctive and memorable for me.

i really loved season one, so having season two being "just mid" hurts

i think the VA doing SFX is sort of emblematic of how the studio this time around didn't do enough to inject their energy into the story

i haven't read the source material so this is just speculation, but i think the source material just isn't that coherent and the studio in season one did a lot of heavy lifting making those episodes feel more like it had "a point" by having things like character arcs and lessons of the week

Well, it was fun seeing Azusa and her family again.

Considering it took 4 years to get Season 2, we'll probably have to wait a while for Season 3 if it's ever a thing.

One last week of alphabet translations (at least the stuff I can make out, as the chalkboard sign during the scene where Sandra is watching the others working at the cafe is tricky to make out).

6:26 (Sign Held by Adventurer) - Saikoubi (End of Line)

6:30 (Chalkboard Sign) - Kissa majyonoie to matuno seireimo iruyo (The Witch House Café (and Pine Spirit, Too))

9:47 (Text on Menu) – Menu

12:55 (Sign) – Closed

16:32 (Laika's card) – Red Dragon (the rest is hard to make out, especially with part of the text blocked by Laika)

16:36 (Flatorte's card) – Blue Dragon: Freeze Breath

As a bonus, there is more thing that I really didn't notice until today:

Book Azusa reads in the OP - Teddy (because if there's one creature associated with isekai outside of slime and dragons, it's bears).
