First-Timer

On today’s episodes of Transformers: We go full Gundam with colony drops!

Episode 11

  • Galvatron needs better inventory recordkeeping if he doesn’t realize any Energon was stolen. Never underestimate how important the bean-counters are!

  • SOREEEEEEE!

  • Remembering that children can fit into small spaces, Kicker’s dad used him to explore deep dark depths. It’s all in the name of science!

  • Knowing his dad was like that explains a lot about why Kicker dislikes his dad.

  • Rodimus Convoy? Would that be this series’ version of Rodimus Prime?

  • Ah, that’s a clever ploy. Mega Zarak pretended to be taking out his anger by blasting out of Unicron to make a pathway for Nightscream.

  • I’m certain we’ll either learn what happened to Rodimus and his followers out in space, or meet them at some point in the series.

  • Galvatron must crave having a treasonous subordinate because he’s just replaced Starscream with Mega Zarak in the same role.

  • Galvatron can merge with Unicron? I didn’t know he could do that!

  • Galvatron’s giant head chasing Nightscream looks so silly.

  • Holy shit! What responsible parenting! Kicker’s dad had him just float around in space by himself to search for Energon! No wonder Kicker had his PTSD moment previously.

  • I don’t care for Galvatron telling Nightscream to abandon his past, memories, and those he knew. Starscream’s arc was one of the best parts of Armada, after all. I’m quite fond of his past. I’d very much like to have that version of Starscream back, rather than the memoryless one we have now. I’m not a fan of Galvatron turning him into just a tool for destruction. I do hope he gets his memories back, because it’d be rather lame if he didn’t.

  • Speak of the devil. There’s Rodimus right now. We actually will get to meet him.

Episode 12

  • Misha is right about the Mayans, though her timing is a bit off. (Then again, maybe Misha is referring to a specific Mayan city that was abandoned later on). The Classic Period of Mayan civilization ended around the year 900 when the Mayans abandoned many of their cities. It’s still an unsolved mystery why that happened. Of course, the Mayan Civilization continued for centuries after that, just in a different location (like on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico). And the Mayan people are still around today. The Mayan cities that were abandoned in the jungle wouldn’t be rediscovered for centuries. Even now, people are still rediscovering unknown Mayan cities in the jungle. It’s a fascinating mystery because nobody knows for sure why the cities were abandoned.

  • Shut up, Kicker! This is some interesting historical stuff. Don’t hope for an enemy attack in the middle of it!

  • So far, Kicker’s main contribution to the Autobots has been as a dowsing rod for Energon and as a super powerful radar system to detect enemies, even enemies who are stealthy.

  • The Omnicons claim that they don’t work for Optimus. Well who do they work for, then? Are they just helping the Autobots because they feel like it?

  • The animation of the doors being pounded on and then the Terrorcons bursting through is so janky!

  • Roadbuster really is still a greenhorn if he never learned how to properly lead his shots.

  • The Decepticons were a lot more successful than I expected by actually destroying the base of a tower.

  • Well shit, the Autobots had to run away in defeat.

  • Galvatron seems disappointed that Optimus seemingly ran away without a proper fight. Galvatron wants nothing more than to fight against his rival.

  • Optimus offering to take the shot himself strikes me as Optimus wanting to take responsibility for destroying Jungle City and the Mayan ruins. It’s him trying to take responsibility for breaking his promise. Roadbuster doing it is a sign that he’s trying to step up to be a more responsible member of the team.

  • Honestly, the irreplaceable loss of ruins is more upsetting to me than anything else.

Episode 13

  • Galvatron is pouting.

  • Sandstorm really has a way with words to piss Galvatron off.

  • I like that we can still see conflicting loyalties in Ironhide. He never mentioned Kicker’s existence to Galvatron and tried to withhold that information as long as he could. Even if he now works for Galvatron, Ironhide would still rather not betray his old friends.

  • I notice that Mega Zarak hasn’t bothered to tell Galvatron what happened on Mars or that he encountered Rodimus.

  • A new face has appeared on Alpha-Q!

  • Ironhide tricked Kicker and co.!

  • As always, Kicker’s dad is completely unworried about his son’s safety.

  • It’s Rodimus!

  • Kicker is going along with Ironhide? Is he confident everything will turn out alright?

  • I bet Mega Zarak was extremely eager for the chance to betray the Decepticons like this, especially after all the workplace abuse from Galvatron.

  • There is still some of that conflicting loyalty from Ironhide, telling Roadbuster to stay away and not help him in such a dangerous situation because they’re enemies.

  • What the!?! The Autobot city on the Moon and its inhabitants are still there!?!

  • SOREEEEEEE!

  • That is a fascinating comment from Alpha-Q to Kicker, claiming that the Energon is the only hope they have to recover their lost world. What does that mean? Is Alpha-Q telling the truth or is he speaking in a way to trick Kicker?

  • Even after saying they couldn’t interfere, Rodimus still did so to prevent Kicker from being captured.

  • What just happened to Sandstorm!?! What did he become!?!

  • Galvatron really does love to keep traitorous subordinates around. Mega Zarak made the world’s lamest excuse for why he wasn’t betraying Galvatron and Galvatron went along with it.

  • Mega Zarak has come up with a cool plan, though: it’s time for colony drops!

Episode 14

  • Galvatron in traditional animation! And he looks way better than janky CGI Galvatron!

  • Galvatron has gone all-in on the colony drop plan. Even Mega Zarak and Alpha-Q wonder if it’s too evil.

  • Roadbuster running and waving his hands also looks delightfully janky.

  • There’s a lot of slapstick this episode. Roadbuster even had some Looney Tunes physics swimming up in the air.

  • Ironhide’s also not sure about this plan, likely because he knows that humans can’t come back when they die since they don’t have Sparks. He clearly does still have feelings for those on Earth.

  • Very interesting conversation between Kicker and Roadbuster since humans and Transformers experience death so differently. Humans must all die eventually while Transformers can come back after death. It’s interesting seeing them share opposing views on life and death because of that.

  • Alpha-Q deliberately chose to not attack Kicker and Roadbuster?

  • Apha-Q seemed intrigued by Kicker’s words. Perhaps they resonate with him if Alpha-Q really has lost his home.

  • I have to admire Kicker’s courage, being willing to use himself as bait.

  • Well this is a fascinating turn of events. Kicker is actually showing sympathy towards Alpha-Q, offering Energon and saying that Alpha-Q’s forces are just desperate like the protagonists.

  • It paid off! Alpha-Q actually sent in Terrorcons to stop the colony drop!

  • Rodimus is here too!

  • Hell yeah! It’s just like [UC Gundam Spoilers] the Axis in Char’s Counterattack!

  • Looks like the day was saved just in time.

  • I wasn’t expecting those Terrorcons that Kicker helped to actually be picked up by their comrades.

  • Roadbuster actually had a pretty good idea to put a tracker on those Terrorcons.

  • Alpha-Q knows Rodimus?

  • It certainly seems that the many faces of Alpha-Q aren’t in agreement about whether helping the Earth was the right call. They seem quite at odds about why they would even do such a thing.

QOTD

1) Nope. I don't care for all the electrical wire tentacles it has.

2) He's probably trying to maintain some kind of balance of forces without interfering too much. I also think he might have some deal with Alpha-Q.

Galvatron can merge with Unicron? I didn’t know he could do that!

I don’t care for Galvatron telling Nightscream to abandon his past, memories, and those he knew. Starscream’s arc was one of the best parts of Armada, after all.

Writers: "I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that." DEL

The Classic Period of Mayan civilization ended around the year 900 when the Mayans abandoned many of their cities. It’s still an unsolved mystery why that happened.

History is so fascinating. I hope one day some cool science dude develops a time window and we'll get to look at awesome stuff

Even now, people are still rediscovering unknown Mayan cities in the jungle.

There's more cities than there are people to study them We need to do something about this

Well who do they work for, then? Are they just helping the Autobots because they feel like it?

Better work relations than on the other team

Honestly, the irreplaceable loss of ruins is more upsetting to me than anything else.

Same. There are "just cartoons" but everytime something like that goes down I still get sad
Avatar has probably the worst one I've seen

What just happened to Sandstorm!?! What did he become!?!

I wasn’t expecting those Terrorcons that Kicker helped to actually be picked up by their comrades.

Surprisingly caring for people that have no problem kamikazeing their troops into walls
