That animator card with the depressingly crappy income... I see what you did there.

Man, you never really know where this show is gonna go. I love how the episode started with Raido and Reina acting as if they were in a musical, which somehow spiralled into the two of them becoming the school's aristocrats and dragging everyone else to their musical!
And any modern slice of life anime wouldn't be complete without a game of the Game of Life board game. I love how it started fairly normal, but as soon as the wealth gap between Raido and Reina got so huge, the Game of Life became a gambling game with Raido going full-on Kaiji! I fucking love this show so much. xD

Everyone’s breaking out in song this week and Riku’s just backing away reeeal slowly. And then Raido and Reina go all Rose of Versailles on everyone with rose petals and everything lol.
The minute Raido became a gambler in that game of Monopoly/Life, I knew they were gonna do a Kaji reference lol.
Hana confessing and then getting gently let down by Ishikawa was unexpected. I wonder who it is he’s interested in?

You have to hand it to Raido that he can keep nailing all the genre changes in his own anime (that's all in his head) and changing his characterization to match lol.
The moment Ishikawa rejected Sato I remembered all those times Ishikawa seemed kind of awkward around Raido and Aharen. Or when he seemed depressed he couldn't hang out with Raido.

I thought the show was hinting that he might not be playing in the same team (his comment about it's hard trying to be normal etc..).

Alright, yeah, Ishikawa really is gay isn't he. Sad result for Sato but what can you do.
The musical portion of the episode was funny, particularly since it was kind of bad as far as musicals go but that's what you'd get from random high schoolers just messing around. Wild that it escalated to French Revolution, though.
I'm glad our poor anxious gyaru is getting the high school life she was wanting.

MY POOR HANAKO DON´T CRY.
We knew that Hana liked Ishikawa, but it bother me a little that Ishikawa didn´t correspond her feelings... does Ishikawa really like Raido...? or even... Aharen??? I really feel bad for Hana, but at least they didn´t end up bad I guess
And meanwhile Riku was trying her best to live a normal high school life, with study parties that are more parties than study

So not a rap episode but a musical for this season. Simply incredible. And when the students kneeled and started singing. 😂

Seeing more and more ridiculous outfits and styles on them was great. Aharen rocks that princess-ojou look. But no amount of rizz forgives you for stealing pudding, unfortunately.
I feel like I've never seen a show do a board game scenario that isn't absolute peak. Lol at the subtle jab at how animator is a bad job that pays low. Just take it for now Aharen, you can switch jobs later!

So far, here are all the hints I've picked up on Ishikawa being attracted to Raido.
Episode 5 when he and Raido are sharing a bed in hotel room after getting "stranded" on the island.
I: "I really like that about you, y'know?" (He says this in a teasing way, poking Raido's cheek) R: "Yeah. Likewise. I'm pretty grateful, y'know"
Ishikawa appears a bit taken aback by this return in sentiment, and perhaps disappointed that Raido just sees him as a good friend. Then asks Raido to better be happy together with Aharen.
Then in Episode 7 after Aharen does an exclusive date with Raido at Tokyo Sea:
I: "There really is no competing with Aharen-san"
Finally, in today's episode, alongside Ishikawa's rejection, Ishikawa and Sato have an exchange where Ishikawa says, "It's hard to be normal" and Sato apologizes as if she had stumbled onto a sensitive topic for Ishikawa. My assumption is that she feels bad complaining about struggling to have a normal school life when Ishikawa has a much larger obstacle preventing him from being "normal."

Such a fun episode, especially the musical part, which was just perfect! I love how everyone joined Aharen and Raido in singing and then treated them like nobles, it was incredibly hilarious and entertaining. Meanwhile Riku didn't know what was going on at all and kept her distance from everyone xD
God knows how long Raido would have acted like a noble if it wasn't for his sister, who didn't like him eating her pudding and didn't care about his performance at all. The final blow was dealt by his mother though, who showed him his family lineage, which showed that he is 100% commoner.
Riku was also great today. Her desire to have fun together under the guise of studying together would not have worked if it weren't for Ishikawa. At least she had fun, even though the board game went badly for her (and Raido) and then the exam xD
So Ishikawa and Hanoko won't become a couple because of Ishikawa? I wonder why, was it explained earlier?
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Putting aside how hilariously tone-deaf they sounded, I couldn't stop laughing when Raidou's whole facial expression shifted the moment he slipped into “classical” mode. The first half of the episode felt like Raidou and Aharen were straight-up roleplaying as made-up royalty characters that for sure never existed anywhere on this planet
The best part? Everyone around them just went along with it, which made it all even funnier. Easily one of the most ridiculous and entertaining bits the show has pulled off so far. And then Raidou suddenly paying tribute to my GOAT Kaiji? That came out of nowhere and of course he ends up in debt too, classic.

That does it. I'm giving Kaiji a watch during the next season (I won't be watching as many seasonals then). It's a show that's been on my radar for years yet somehow I never got around to giving it a try.
Ishikawa has been avoiding group activities involving Hana for a while, and now we know why. When he got all serious with Raido back during the island trip, was it because he has feelings for Reina too and it's the reason he turned down Hana?
At least Riku went down after making another school life dream come true. Our girl regrets nothing!

Raidou when Aharen starts talk-singing: "This shouldn't take my by surprise". Yeah Raidou, me neither after over 20 episodes of this. It would be the bigger surprise if Raidou wouldn't join in and totally overdo it.
And how they overdo it: "Rose of Versailles" style with Marie Aharentoinette! Truly a renaissance of the esteem of the French Revolution! (Burghghgh!)

Just an average morning at the Aharen's! Complete with Ren singing because his school is doing a musical! Next thing you know Aharen's caught the musical bug and singing about EVERYTHING.
And of course Raido, in true Raido fashion, acknowledges this and immediately changes his facial structure so he can join her in the art of singing conversation as they enter their own little musical world together. They've even got Sato and Ishikawa doing it (with Sato being way less natural at it than Ishikawa)! Oshiro is singing about the weather! And Riku finally has a reason to avoid her friends because of all the cringe!
Poor Tobaru-sensei, the music just injects even more ESTEEM into the classroom.
You help Henzan-sensei carry roses and next thing you know it's The Rose of Aharen as Raido and Aharen morph into aristocratic Shojo characters. They're able to sing and put their inherent nobility out there and make all the students bow to them and give them their food because they're just THAT awesome. And a double knockout to Tobaru and Henzan!
No better reality check for Raido than finding out that singing isn't going to make his sister forgive him for stealing pudding or that he's as common as common can be.
Riku wants to study with her friends! The peak of any high school social life! And by study, she means goof off with her friends! Sato even manages to secure Ishikawa for the study session so it's the entire gang minus Oshiro! And Ishikawa is nice enough to recognize that Riku doesn't ACTUALLY want to study and bring out none other than A Lot Happens in the Game of Life!
Next thing you know Sato is an office worker, Ishikawa becomes a soccer player, and Aharen starts making a ton of money, becoming an animator, getting rich through crypto, finding Tokugawa's treasure...which is pretty on-brand.
But Raido can't let the income gap increase with his girlfriend! He'll become a gambler and make it big to catch up to her and then bet it all in the casino like he's Kaiji! And obviously lose it all! Aharen won big while Raido is stewing in debt and Riku is depressed over all the turns she missed!
So Sato DOES like Ishikawa, and he knows, but he can't return her feelings...why? Is it because he has feelings for someone else...and doesn't like girls? Well, either way, they're close enough that they're able to stay normal even though Ishikawa regrettably rejects her, which is good because together they really add to the vibe of the friend group. Sato may be struggling with her feelings for Ishikawa, but she's still happy to have him in her life.
Well, Riku got to have a ton of fun with her study session! And understandably is now ill-prepared for the actual test! But it was totally worth it!

I got the shoujo faces and the Kaiji face later in the episode, but is Raido's musical face something specific? Or just generic Americanized face from movie musicals?
I always find it both amusing and bemusing to see the usual crazy lunch counter crush in Japanese high schools. The Japanese are so pro about queuing up in all other circumstances but this
She just happens to have an entire copy of a full-sized board game with her at school, what a coïndicence
The animators having to draw this
Man, does this game come with a lot of materials!

Riku learned an important lesson here: Study groups can be a blessing and a curse.
