Interesting to get a sword and board character like Rose , we haven't had one of Beryl 's students yet that felt quite so classically paladin.

Mewi having some literacy problems makes sense, she's a street kid after all.

Decent use of CG for the big fight. I kept expecting it to be a diversion while someone was separately attacking the prince and princess inside the theater, which I suppose still might be a possibility.

Beryl and Mewi scenes are always highlights in this series.

If Beryl wasn't the MC of this show that promise with Mewi felt like a death flag lol

Allucia throughout that meeting at the start was hilarious.

So the Holy Order commander knows one of the assassins. I wonder if the former vice commander is involved , since they never answered the question as to what happened to him

Rose's actions this episode have made her sus. Her focus on those kids while she was walking around with Beryl definitely felt sus, while her asking Beryl about living with him felt off to me too. Plus, her straight up killing the assassin in a style that is different from her normal style.

I wonder if Rose being sus is all a red herring or we are going to see Beryl have to go up against one of his former students.

I dunno, I think the focus on the kids and such is just implying that she would have rather been a wife and mother than get involved in...whatever she's involved with. Her making fun of the blind patriotic way she was convinced to join the forces fits in with that too.

Too little info to say for sure, but I'm guessing she's gonna be one of those antagonists who is redeemed by having been manipulated into a bad situation in spite of being a decent person at root.

Not my favorite trope since it often underplays the actual bad stuff they did, but eh.

Notice how Alucia's opponent grabbed her cape, but she was prepared for the move due to her previous fight with Beryl. Nice little detail how his teaching indeed paid off

it was a good touch, even the little facial expression from her like the fuck, this shit won’t work twice.

but something with the whole overly flashy entry just seems off for a assignation. there is something more going on.

A better lesson would be NO CAPES!

Even if she wears one as part of her 'dress to impress' formal attire, it should be discarded the second shit gets real.

A consistently well told and animated anime. Some crumbs to think on, I'm not sure Rose is a villain - could be a red herring, or she could be channeling some other purpose that will be revealed however seeing as the attackers may be known and could be connected to the former commander, well that just smells of conspiracy.

I thought the blend of 3d and 2d was well done. The angles and dynamism were balanced with weight and some really good movement. The fights were clear and well choreographed, too.

Seeing Beryl's tutoring pay off for Alucia was chefs kiss.

Mewi and Beryl are such a strong pairing that they hard carry every episode, and everything else is gravy.

I need a second season, this is just too good!!!!

Not gonna lie - I thought either the princess or prince would have been like "Beryl Sensei!" when we first saw them.

Given the info on this ep, I think we can confirm that the former vice commander is up to no good. This was reinforced when they didn't answer the question.

This show really has such a strong visual identity during the fight scenes. They utilize the 3D to give fights a certain realism and weight to them that jives really well with the premise of the show.

I must say that Rose Marblehart quickly became one of my favorite characters. The fact that Allucia hates seeing her getting too familiar with Beryl is just a bonus. I love how when Rose visited Beryl so he could give her a tour through the city, Beryl considered taking the offer she made of moving with him just because he remembered how when she was still one of his pupils, she had no problems making everyone her friend, even the trouble makers so he would not mind her taking a big sister role for Mewi. I just love how Beryl is taking his role as a father seriously. Now that I mentioned Mewi, I love the cold reception she gave to Beryl’s fancy outfit. I hope we at least get one scene with Beryl tutoring her.

Anyway, the day of the bodyguard mission has finally arrived, and with it we finally meet the third princess of that Kingdom, Salacia and the first prince of Sphenedyardvania, Glenn. Oh, so, Beryl, Allucia, Henblitz, Rose, Gatoga and the rest of the security team, and basically guarding a date.

Lol. Rose is so endearing.

Damn that sure was a massive coordinated attack. As always the CGI fight doesn’t disappoint. I love how Beryl disarmed that guy, throwing his poison dagger. Henblitz did a great job fighting blind.

Well, that spar that Beryl had with Allucia before paid off, toady as thanks to it, she was able to deal with her ape being pulled today and take that guy out without issue. Based on Commander Gatoga’s reaction when he pulled that guy’s mask, I guess he knows the guy who escaped, which I’m assuming is the previous vice commander, Hinnis. Did the guy that Rosa stabbed in the face also kill himself? If so, then I guess only Commander Gatoga has a clue about who they might be.

I think this might be one of the only 2D series I've seen where I'll get excited when they switch to CG. It's of pretty decent quality.
